Dreamworld don't need to hit a home-run right now. They need to just hit singles and doubles. Get to first base, then to second base, until all the bases are loaded and you can start getting back to home base and get some runs on the board. Everyone here wants them to invest heavily in a major attraction - and they definitely need to do that eventually, but they need to make some smaller, significant plays to get back in the game. The trick is to buy off-the-shelf rides that fit into the family/thrill category. This means mild to wild thrills. An ABC Tourbillon to replace Wipeout, an RMC Raptor or Gravity Group Woody to replace HWSW, leading up to a falcons-fury style revamp of GD to replace TOT2/GD. (I know the tourbillon is a 'meh' ride, but the visual experience will have everyone talking about it - which is the point!) Slowly, build an aviation-themed area of the park to replace Gold Rush that highlights some of the major Queensland contributions to Aviation (Charles Kingsford Smith, Qantas, etc.), and then invest in a major new ride - the new Vekoma Flying Coaster - as the centre piece, work in the new GD rebuild, and Sky Voyager into the area, and suddenly you've got a park that is kicking some major goals, with a range of unique attractions that other GC parks don't have. They need to dream big, but act sensibly. Ardent can absolutely turn this around if they just commit to a proper vision for the park and really sweat the details. As a priority, hire a Creative Director to oversee that creative vision and do what that person advises. If they can just hold back from turning the former GoldRush site into a Caravan Park, I remain hopeful (but not optimistic).

Parkz forum members are the first ones to shell out money to ride rivals backward. I don't know if it's true or not but DW has shown little care for Parkz forum members in the past.

That tv tonight post about Big Brother was written on April Fools last year and confirmed to be a prank. If Big Brother was to return in the future, my guess would be it wouldn’t go back to DW. My guess is consentino

Honestly - he's a pretty well known illusionist. Magic shows do have a place in theme parks. It's not a game changer, but it is something else both memorable and interesting to do at the park. I'd like to see them establish a residency for him for a while - if nothing else to give people something to do when nothing in the park is open. It just doesn't make sense that they're blowing their wad on an entertainment contract whilst simultaneously nickle-and-diming the retail outlets and food stalls.

Preferably to vanish Wipeout and ToT.

Finally got to ride this in person. Green screen effect didn't work. Lift screens are amazingly too close. Disco room was extraordinarily dark (but in a way, this made it better as you couldn't see the turns or drops), and no smoke. Final drop clearly visible too. Other than that I enjoyed the other effects, and didn't think the graphics were too horrible - more representative of those of a 2000-ish era movie. I don't love it. I don't hate it, i hope i caught the disco room on an off day, and i'll assume the green screen was just a glitch. I'll ride it a few more times before i make my mind up.

The train is fucked, putting it lightly. The sad thing is the Baldwin steam locomotive which is also sitting in the shed can run tomorrow if there was enough will to get it going. if the train does close, never to reopen, well there goes an attraction that everybody can ride and enjoy. Ontop of that, with no train there is no longer any transport attractions within the park. Yeah ok not every theme park needs transport rides, movie world survives without one, but Movie World is not as spread out and is a lot more flat when compared to dreamworld. If Dreamworld management want someone to run the steam train for them, give me a call

I read the statement from Dreamworld again; 'What were you doing in 1993?' I wonder if anyone remembers what DW was doing in 1993? I'll give you a run down; in the years leading up to 1993 DW was sold to a new owner. The new owner siphoned money away from Dreamworld to fund other things (mostly a lavish lifestyle and fast cars for the owner). By the early 90s the place was on the verge of going under due to lack of investment and mismanagement. In a bid to save the park, a new ambitious ride was installed; Wipeout. That ride captured the public's imagination in a big way, and almost single handedly saved DW from closing. Twenty five years later with Wipeout closing, DW staring down both barrels and DW themselves asking 'what were you doing in 93', wouldn't it be nice if someone at Ardent reflected with 'DW were saving a failing park by adding a bold new ride. Maybe we should do that again'

Not on its own. If they had an inspiring and exciting madterplan for the park, clearly communicated what that plan was, and invested heavily each year for the next 5-10 years to implement it, then as a first part of that plan SkyVoyager could certainly help. Sadly, none of the above is true!

An application was lodged to Gold Coast City Council (not a link to the application - see the paragraph below the quote) on the 28th of February: I'd add a link to the relevant Gold Coast City Council application but from previous attempts to link applications from there in recent months, I've found it will just lead to an error message for you all due to last year's information technology system upgrade the Council implemented. As far as I am aware, Sea World's plans have not yet been approved by a private certifier but according to Gold Coast City Council they are "in progress" of being assessed by the private certifier. Now does the application description mean 1 performance stage or 'Stage 1'? If it is 1 performance stage, then that might be what they are building on the island and maybe there are multiple performance stages? If it is 'Stage 1', then what is 'Stage 2' and/or how many 'stages' are there? 🤔 I'd probably say it's the latter - 'Stage 1' of a masterplan. This would fit in with some recent rumours.

Another Dreamworld let down, what did I expect...

Just to add the in park screens have been a feature for around 12 months. It is a shame nothing has happened with the back drop for Volare as yet. Who knows maybe its going to get a vinyl wrap or something similar to how the back of Coney Island was done.

@Jdude95 Last week I was robbed by a China man and I knew this because when I got home my homework was done, my computer was upgraded, but 2 hours latter the f**ker was still trying to reverse out of my driveway. I would like a Wacky Worm Coaster for adults only.

They just need to remove the 'big 9' billboard they've got facing the southbound motorway at the back of WWW. Surely around the world there are wooden structures with timber older than 40 years though... the age of the wood isn't in and of itself a 'yikes' now, is it? Wouldn't it be more the condition of that timber? (which granted, at Dreamworld, probably is worth Yikesing) As for a send off - if the ride was in an operable state, and was safe to operate, sure - let it run for another few weeks or whatever - but would you be advocating a send off if the park had found an unsafe condition within the mechanics of the ride? no. of course not. This is of course the difference between a planned replacement ride process that US\EU parks have, and a 'oh shit, its busted up good, better not run it anymore' that our parks have - including things like Sea Viper. Even parks that do run structured replacement and lifecycle programs, the unexpected does occur. As Slick mentioned - two years ago the CEO was talking about the ride lasting for years more - clearly, this took them by surprise. It shouldn't have, but clearly it did. LTRR wasn't directly replaced by JDS though. The warehouse was gutted and spent at least a full year as storage space, and even played host to their lot sale that year (i've been in the space to pick things up from that sale\auction while it was a giant empty warehouse, full of christmas decorations and parade floats) You could just get a carnival operator to drop a trailer based ride into the park for a year or two though...?

Replace Storm Coaster at SW with a B&M Dive Machine.

I'm not too bothered about the amount of rides closed or reduced hours. I just got back from a trip around china and went to a few parks (including Shanghai Disney, HK Disney and USS) . The smaller parks such as Happy Valley have half the park closed cause it is the off season and the rides that are open have reduced hours. Even both Disney parks and universal had reduced hours. I think we have been spoiled here in Australia the past 10 years or so.

Cosentino sounds like a pretty good guess. He has written a couple of books. His TV show is shown all around the world (may get him up to that 50mil mark). Just checked his website. He has no shows scheduled till July... Possibly a illusion show for the April school holidays?

Agree with Gaza's RMC ( for SW) as part of a Pier Amusement area and a motion base dark ride for MW in the kid's area/ old LTRR building.

Agree with Gazza in a RMC and a B&M Wing are the two I'd like to see locally.

Dreamworld: B&M Wong coaster, in the gold rush / blue lagoon area / RMC Raptor Replacing Hot Wheels Sidewinder Seaworld: Vekoma Launch / Bermuda Triangle in sea viper’s plot of land Movieworld: Some sort of roller coaster in the Wild West area or a Mack Big Dipper (lost gravity) replacing Arkham Asylum

I’d just like to see more family type attractions - ones that you could ride over and over again. Gerstlauer family coaster with a reverse section(especially like Pegasus Express). Zamperla Hydro Lift or a similar kind of river raft ride. A shooting dark ride or Ninjago type thing would be cool too. Nothing that would break the bank, but would help to round out a day at any of our local parks.

If I’m disregarding all restrictions and money, then I’m replacing TOT & GD with a Kingda Da/TTD-esque ride that takes the global height record and includes a drop tower down the middle.

I was just looking through all the photos I took in Shanghai Disneyland and I got this of Pooh’s honey pot spin I now it’s not the most complicated ride but I thought it was better than nothing. I also tried to take one Tron but the lighting in there meant I could not get a good picture.

Yes and when the channel 10 2019 broadcast presentation took place in Nov 2018 it was clear the idea was shelved with zero mention of BB and I’m a Celeb returning. Networks don’t “hide” major productions for surprise release as they need to forward plan production and sell advertising space, of which value is attributed to hype, not secrecy
