  1. I was told that the reason there's no fog is that it was found the correct filters for the projection gear hadn't been specified/ordered, so therefore it's running without it until that stuff eventually arrives and is signed-off. I rode the ride a few days ago and honestly... what a mess. The projection in the lift is out of sync front vs side and it's just way too close. It also makes not a lick of sense. The AR-projection earlier in the ride was frozen on a still from a much earlier ride and there was a Windows 7 error message projected on the wall to the right of it. Several of the set elements in the dark ride section are unlit. The lasers in the dark ride section are on but ineffective without aforementioned fog. All-in-all we were left scratching our heads at how something like this could happen, given shortly afterward we rode Arkham with VR. How can a park that is capable of something of the standard of Arkham VR also produce something like Scooby 2.0?

  2. That title is a dubious one at best. How some of the world's most amazing cities were beaten by Hipsters who like to deconstruct their toast is beyond me.

  3. Clearly you've never been to Melbourne. If you did youd know it's one big grid which is easy to navigate. It was a planned city. Maybe you are confusing it with Sydney which is a spaghetti bowl lol It's only a proposal at this point. Melbourne have had plenty of proposals over the years that never came to fruition. They are trying to build this on Green Wedge zoned land. No permits have been issued yet either. I'm not getting too excited, ever since African Safari World, I know better than to get my hopes up. https://www.3aw.com.au/cool-reaction-to-melbournes-proposed-new-100-million-water-park/

  4. That was by choice though right? They don't actually assign you a particular seat... so you could perhaps have chosen to go and sit on the left side, right? You have, actually, and was the main reason for an extra staff member right at the entrance to the queue where the GL sign is, as it was their job (just like at superman) to ensure you didn't enter the queue with loose articles, and direct you to the lockers (which were right next to them). People with glasses they needed to see with would pass them and similar objects off to an operator who had baskets for just that reason - but the loose article boxes on the station have always been there.

  5. Y'know what will make the chill out zone extra chilled? A turbine.

  7. Matt Hollywood? May as well watch paint dry, its more magic than him. This is Ardents version of "capital light", and good on them if it works this time, but nothing beats having rides open in a theme park, or heck new rides and attractions to experience, something Ardent have forgotten.

  8. Movie World had a magician (Matt Hollywood) last year performing several times a day during the school holidays in Main Street. Short shows with only a small audience of whoever was close by at the time. It was a very good show though!

  9. You'd have to be an idiot to want to invest in the short-term. The plus-side from where I sit on seeing a management team and board so hellbent on bringing the park to its knees to justify a real-estate sell-off is knowing that they have likely started their run too early, and as a result have made life even more difficult for themselves. Go figure - a pack of corporate vandals who can't even manage a basic asset sale. Woe to anyone who would hire any of them going forward.

  10. Hmm. I do not live in either Melbourne or Sydney but have spent plenty of time in both, for work and leisure. I have driven extensively in both and traveled on public transport in both. In my mind, Melbourne is far easier to navigate than Sydney, in both pubic transport and for driving. You are right in that all cities are planned. Cities expand and out grow their initial planning and sometimes, due to geographical features or other considerations, the planning that follows is not always integrated with what has come before. Sydney was a much more organic city than Melbourne, growing out of the site of the first colony on the Australian mainland. By necessity, it was bounded by the harbour which is so integral to its character and lifeblood. Very hard to grid or plan around such a feature as this. Melbourne was much more planned but was also easier to plan and "grid", given the nature of its site. This is why Melbourne feels so much more programmed than Sydney in its layout. I love elements of both cities, but Melbourne for mine takes the title. There is a reason that Melbourne was name the most liveable city for 7 years in a row, from 2011 until 2017. Vienna has taken the mantle for 2018 with Melbourne 2nd. Sydney, to be fair was not that far behind, in 5th position, with Adelaide rounding out the top 10.

  11. The issue for me is that a show like this is good to soak up crowds while the rest of the park is busy, except from what I read on here, most rides at Dreamworld are walk-ons. A magic show, although it might be great, is not a crowd draw. People won't travel interstate to see a magic show. Hell I won't travel from Brisbane for a magic show. As stated over and over again, Dreamworld need something to draw a crowd through the door and shows just won't do that at an Amusement/Theme park. To me this is a waste of money they could be using elsewhere, like putting in new shaded areas around the Gold Rush area. Lots of space there to make shaded seating..

  12. I hadn't really paid any attention previously, but I did watch a TV special he did a while back on YouTube last night. I can't say I was impressed. Every illusion \ stunt \ trick he did i've seen done before (i've even worked backstage for a few of them) so I have a fair idea on the gimmicks involved. He's certainly a talented escape artist - you can't fake some of that, but let's face it - he's performing twice daily during school holidays at Dreamworld. It's not like he's resident at the Rio, MGM Grand or Planet Hollywood...

  13. Sky Voyager will not help the park the way management think. Even when it is the first of its kind in the southern hemisphere it still will not save the parks current image. Rather sad.

  14. An RMC of some form and a Wing Rider or Flyer would make me pretty right in the coaster department. I also want some form of motion base dark ride.

  16. Umm did you not see what they offered last holidays.. - Aquaman Exhibition (World Exclusive) -New Batmobile (also World Exclusive) - New character, Cyborg - Some what of a Scooby Doo refurbishment. Not to forget the annual White Christmas event. Dreamworld.... - so I think Movie World doesn’t need to do something til June/July Holidays.
