  1. The official staff launch party for Sky Voyager was last night. Meaning skyvoyager is ready to ride. Predicted opening is APR 6,7, or 8.

  2. Wow. Bit harsh don’t you think?? They contacted the park days before, who never got back to them. Funfields And Adventure Park didn’t have an issue. i would say that it’s rather poor form on the park and complete over zealousness on their part. The video was hardly a tantrum by the way.

  3. Last night wasn’t the launch party for Sky Voyager, it was for something unrelated. They were just using the staff who happened to be there for this event for mock guests for training purposes.

  4. Another visit to Outback Splash, today. It was 30 degree weather with moderate crowds enjoying a splash on the slides. The large inflatable slide has been moved from the back right of the water playgrounds to the back left. It seems that the ground works are going in close to the previous position, close to the work sheds nearby. The most surprising news is that the emus have moved in with the kangaroos and the whole back half of their paddock has gone. It has been expanded to include more of the pine tree area near the hedge maze. It seems they’re getting ready for the construction of their brand new entrance way. Despite its very Aussie theming, I think it will make the place feel more like a theme park. Exciting times...

  5. I guess they can join the hallowed ranks of theme park journalists like Rob Alvey in getting kicked out of a park for filiming eh DJ......... Like I said earlier, I guess they had to inform their viewers somehow that the heavily promoted Gumbuya review would not go ahead. There was certainly saltiness in the video but I reckon it was fairly restrained.

  6. I dunno that last line of 'I guess they don't care about us' is pretty sulky/Tantrum like to me. I think if you're only going to a park to get content you're not really an enthusiast.

  9. I am not Park Chat Lives biggest fan don’t get me wrong. However, it’s my opinion that they can feel a little aggrieved at how they were treated- it certainly was not the friendliest reception. Given they have done numerous similar videos from other parks, it is disappointing to see such s new park like Gumbuya handle this with such a careless and insensitive way. The purpose of the video I guess was meant to inform their viewers that the Gumbuya World review would not be going ahead for the reasons given. It WAS heavily promoted on their site so they had to communicate it somehow. The last line certainly expressed disappointment and frustration but I think it’s a bit of a stretch to call it a full blown tantrum......

  10. To be fair it’s only park chat live, what’s the worse they can do...

  11. 1. Visit a theme park to film without permission. 2. Act shocked when you're caught and told you're not allowed equipment like cameras and microphones. 3. Upload a video having a tantrum because you weren't given special treatment.

  13. We are all talking about dreamworld and sky voyager when Aussie world has built the sx360 ride, finished construction dec/jan and still not open. I have sent them email and Facebook messages asking about this ride and when is it going to open. Haven’t ever got a reply, does anyone know what has happen to this ride

  14. In the current "make an announcement, but it's ok to change your mind later about it" environment, here's how that should go down. plan for new giga coaster (or similar) determine demolition timeline needed for ToT order new giga coaster, and ensure financing arrangements are taken care of Announce new ride, and demolition of TOT same day. Announce closing date of ToT within ~few weeks. Make big noise about one last ride. Maybe run a competition on a radio station for people to win seats on the last ride ever. give them some sort of one of a kind or limited edition souvenir from the ride close the ride immediately begin demolition if you've timed it right, you can also begin surveying the site for the new coaster (and you should have been surveying the other non TOT parts of the ride path already If you've timed it right, ride parts should begin arriving in the carpark. Once demolition is complete, start construction. THAT is how you replace a ride. (and i hope Movie World and Sea World are watching this too.

  15. *scoff* would have been better at Australia Zoo. They already have the John Oliver Koala Chlamydia Ward, and plenty of native wildlife. Plus their track record on opening things, keeping them open, and the chances of them staying open are 1000.34% more likely. Well, I can't argue with this, they have made a series of big announcements:

  16. Surprise surprise - i disagree. The park needs to stop telling people what their plan is, and put their money where their mouth is. reopen eureka mine ride wipeout has 10 more years adventure river with wildlife right beside you VR on MDMC Sky Voyager opens this summer. What do all of these things have in common? Stop fucking talking about it and JUST START DOING IT.

  17. I'd have liked to have seen it done differently, but after discussing the issue exhaustively off-board, I can completely understand why it is the way that it is. There are other benefits to this too that haven't been considered. I'm of mixed feelings about it, and I look forward to pages of debate in a few months.
