  1. Wonder how long it will take to deem the chairs too risky of kids standing on them and putting a cage over them to prevent an accident. As a double bonus though, the cage would act as a secondary shade solution for maximum shade effect!

  2. I love that they've put a demo chair out the front already, so you can see if you fit in the harness on the finished attraction. You can even preview it in shade AND sun. They really do listen to social feedback.

  4. Just to avoid any doubt, I personally do not find it funny or amusing when people (such as AlexB or Skeeta): - Make assumptions about me. - Portray me as some sort of fool, or a kid. - Answer questions for me. I don't take it personally. My main concern is how completely pathetic that sort of thing makes Parkz look to anyone who happens to look at the forum. That includes people who actually hold senior positions with theme parks! Sadly, they must think we're all immature, and very unintelligent.

  5. It was more directed at a post which has since been deleted /removed which obviously crossed a line. Whilst it’s intentions were an attempt at poor humour, there was certainly a nasty undercurrent contained within it that asked for another poster in no uncertain terms to remove themselves from the board,. It was directed and pointed. What does it matter if a select audience found the post amusing? The subject matter of the post deemed it offensive, I and obviously many others saw it for what it was as well and was uncomfortable with it. For mine, it’s only a joke when it’s good natured and all parties, including who it was directed at, deem it so. The minute that it becomes a joke for a select few at the expense of someone else that is constant you start to venture into the realms of bullying. Let’s call it for what it is. Constant needling. Sure sometimes things need to be called out and shot down. We all know that. This time , for mine, wasn’t one of them. I usually let them slide by and scroll on by but in this instance , I thought that a comment on the so called “comedic” post was required.. I love and participate in jokes on the board all the time,- it has nothing to do with not enjoying a joke. However, I have been on these boards for a very long time and have observed the interactions of many posters over the years. Some definitely cross the line and some are definitely allowed to stand because of who the poster is, which is at times , a position of inequality. The fact that the post in question has since been removed speaks volumes.

  6. Picture this. @pushbuttonis riding the Play School Wheel and it's a little too fast for him and he gets dizzy. Push takes himself to the medical room for a little laydown. During Push’s recovery he overhears the staff talking how DW are building a clone Bermuda Triangle. Push instantly goes into cardiac arrest and an ambulance is called. Time is wasted while the ambulance crew are trying to get push and their equipment out the door while performing CPR on Push and he doesn’t make it. ☹️ DW spent the money for a new First Aid room and managed to F it up. Don't believe me? DW have a plaque for @pushbutton at the entrance.

  7. Can we retire the shaded seating area jokes now. Push is just bullying Dreamworld at this point which goes against forum rules.

  8. Shhh! I might have heard a rumour from an anonymous insider. For only a small extra charge of $165 per hour, you'll be able to upgrade your shade and seating experience. The lucky guests who purchase this special experience (to be marketed as "Cabanad 2.0") will be seated on the largest seats in the park (on the floor), and will enjoy the very best shade in any theme park in the world, as well as the supreme luxury of total privacy (they'll be covered by their own private solid metal box). To ensure that guests are able to enjoy this premium experience without being interrupted, the box will be secured with 2 large hardened steel padlocks for the duration of the hire period (available for 1, 2, or 3 hours). The metal boxes will be so solid that no light can penetrate them, and I'm told they'll also be completely soundproof and airtight. To celebrate the opening, one lucky passholder will be chosen at random when they arrive on opening day, to receive a complementary 3 hour box hire! 😷

  9. Hello, have not posted for a while but enjoying the banter ..not the bullying. What is occurring at moment ( sky voyager or a pull of other projects such as lazy river) would suggest a working capital problem for ardent .If had cash sky voyager would be open. Should never have got to that point if better management in first instance . Should have budgeted and planned correctly. Most businesses fail due to poor liquidity management . In this case they stopped spending due to lack of cash, but in a position where US business is mediocre to cover . Issue is can the existing business keep covering dreamworld ? Ardent is asx listed so eventually decision may be taken out of hands via share price . There are worrying signs here . If something does not turn in short term dreamworld is done. Board would be assessing land value right now vs more spend . Risk and return . Does it meet capital return targets or hoping on takeover like in the past . Does additional reinvestment make this happen ( ie the tower in 96 and hope someone buys the dream like macquarie leisure trust ) Also going offshore for funding does not suggest they can’t get domestic funding . It’s extremly common . Ask any Aussie large cap. Doesn’t highlight anything.

  10. It is honestly fair to be cynical about what Dreamworld management says. Management has made nothing but poor decisions for many years now. Adding rides that the park doesn't need, having rides down for over 6 months, and running outdated rides until they shit the bed. The list goes on and on. Anything that's actually good? ABC Kids World opening on time maybe? I had to really scrape the bottom of the barrel for that one. Considering only three months ago they made it clear that adding rides would be a thing of the past, it is easy to doubt what Osborne has said today as little more than PR tip-toeing. This company has been all talk and no action when it comes to having a long term plan for Dreamworld.

  11. @CaptainLazerGunsDW has stuffed everything they have set out to do in the last 3 years. In fact DW has spent 30 million dollars with nothing to show for it. What do we have? Dreamworld Express isn't going. Wipeout gone with no replacement. 2 new dirt piles within the park. A new ride that can't open because nobody will sign it off because it's built shit. Tiger Island stage 3 which is now left to overgrow in the corner. Jelly Belly store closed. Dreamworld Cinema closed. (facade destroyed) Eureka promised but removed. Brock's Garage closed. Log Ride trashed. Kevil Hill closed. Parkway closed. @Richardin the future can you please mention Play School Wheel was completed successfully to balance the article out.

  12. At $15-plus million a piece these were never intended as band-aids. Investors are sceptical. Industry insiders are sceptical. Would-be guests are sceptical. There's plenty of justification for scepticism and in this case measured optimism about this latest development, and that's what this article is about. As for disappointment, I'm probably missing what you're getting at here. At a quick glance, I see commentary to the effect of "this is good" no less than six times throughout the article and nothing resembling disappointment.

  13. It's not a favourite, but you can't get an experience like Mission: Space anywhere else! That initial 'launch' on the ride is one of the most exciting moments I've ever had on a ride and as a big space nerd I was hysterical. Also Flights of Passage! It's similar to some other rides like Soarin' but ramps it up to a thousand.

  14. But imagine how awesome it will be when it does finally open! The seats will probably be the most comfortable you've ever sat on, and think about the shade too. Oh wow, what shade it will be! I just know it's gonna be worth the wait!

  16. Dreamworld CEO talks thrill ride replacements off the back of Ardent Leisure cash injection In a recent interview with the Gold Coast Bulletin, Dreamworld CEO John Osborne spoke about his desire for new major thrill rides. It's complete turnaround for a company that has insisted in recent years that thrill rides aren't on the cards – and it's a sign that they're getting to the heart of Dreamworld's biggest issues. 17. AFAIK it is known that LPS has considered getting another coaster, specifically a Maurer Spinning coaster, due to them consulting Pitt & Sherry for reasons related to this, but the Park has so limited room and a fairly strict height limit that there are so little options in what to buy. As much as I'd like to see a coaster the money is better spent acquiring some good flats instead.

  18. You're basically saying "Wouldn't it be great to see LPS close for another 10 years due to noise complains from nearby residents?". That's already happened, it didn't end well. LPS better not try that again.

  19. 2 Years wait plus how long it took to build Rivals. The Smiler crashed at Alton Towers in 2015 and the first plans were submitted for Wicker Man in April 2016. Wicker Man opened in March 2018. DW have been kicking the can long enough and should either sell up all go all in.

  20. Scooby Doo when it first opened IMO was very unique given all the theming and elements that it had. Wipeout was also very unique at the time of opening. One that also stood out to me was Supersonic Oddessy in Malaysia, a full size Intamin looper inside a shopping mall. Was a great ride too.

  21. I'm sure the cages will be in place right from the start. It's a brand new attraction, so they must have done their research on things like that. I hope the cages will be as good as the ones on the log ride!

  24. Interesting to see the SBF Tango Train is proving to be a nightmare... MACK through and through for a good Musik Express! It's like buying an Ali Baba over a Rainbow

  27. I checked out some of the progress at Luna Park again this week. The Rotor has it's cartoon figures back on the facade. And one image I did get a chance to take last time was this poster of the Volare that was up inside the Helter Skelter facade as you enter the ride. Oh and the Tango Train is still down for maintenance. What the hell is going on with that ride?

  28. This article seems to follow the recent journalistic narrative presented on Parkz that Dreamworld can't do anything without it being a bad decision. I know that the current outlook isn't sunshine and rainbows but I personally feel like Dreamworld are stepping in the right direction. The lazy river, amphitheatre and dark ride all felt like band-aids that made use of the parks limited resources and funds but the cancellation opens up for larger and more well-rounded experiences instead of committing to previous announcements due to public obligation.
