  1. Most of the caribou has arrived in the maintenance area out back too. This measures about 13 metres long, so there's going to be the wings and tail section somewhere too.

  3. Luna Park Melbourne has two issues. 1. It's a very small footprint that limits its possibilities. Nothing can be done about that. 2. The ownership/leadership is a combination of a trucking magnate and a labor trade union-based superfund (from memory, I think I have that right).

  4. Had 3 rides on this today. What a unique experience. Not too much snow down on the flats of Thredbo, but had some falling while riding this. It is a fun coaster, just a pain when there is a slower person in front of you. They auto break to within 25m of each other. I imagine the lines will be quite long next week with NSW school holidays, but longest wait today was 25 minutes.

  5. So, it appears that Aussie World has put in a development application with the Sunshine Coast City council for a major expansion to the precinct including a large waterpark. The Sunshine Coast could soon be home to a new waterpark, with Aussie World submitting a proposal to build a $60 million facility at the Palmview attraction. The concept design features 16 waterslides for all ages, leisure pools, action pools and numerous waterplay areas. The new area would also include several food and beverage outlets, a pool bar, sun lounges, cabanas and a souvenir shop. In a media release, Aussie World said a development application was submitted to Sunshine Coast Council this week to build the waterpark on privately owned land to the north of the existing theme park. If approved, it would become the Coast’s largest waterpark, rivalling other similar attractions in South-East Queensland, and contribute significantly to the local economy, drawing an estimated 780,000 annual visitors by 2031. “We are continuing to find new attractions that will create an iconic, must-visit experience at the Aussie World Entertainment Complex, which will be sought after by tourists,” Aussie World general manager Jenny Howell said. Artist Impression of the area “As the largest sustainable and accessible waterpark on the Sunshine Coast, and with its close proximity to Aussie World, this project will be hugely popular and something that locals can be proud of. “There will be a two-day pass offer to significantly increase the appeal of the Sunshine Coast to overnight visitors and it will contribute a significant injection to the region’s overnight visitor spend. “The waterpark will continue to strengthen the Sunshine Coast’s reputation as the tourism capital of Queensland for families and young adults, adding to the already exceptional line-up of tourist attractions across the region.” The project would inject up to $39 million into the local economy through building works and the supply of building materials and services to support the three-year construction period. It is estimated the waterpark could generate $15.2 million to $30 million towards the local tourism economy. The concept design submitted to the council also includes a proposal to expand the existing car park to ensure free-flow traffic. It will create employment for 193 full-time staff during the peak season and 87 full-time staff during non-peak periods. 7. I've thought about that, but a couple of options: Close Cavell St to traffic, and potentially expand onto that. You could do a few more flats, and potentially a coaster with a fairly linear layout But the visionary option would be to consolidate around the Palais theatre and the surrounding car parks, and turn it into a proper destination, the next Grona Lund basically. 9. When I rode Splash Mountain at Tokyo Disneyland I was like, "yeah, such a great water ride!" But did I care about the theme, or the animatronics, or what the overall overarching story was through the queue and the slow sections of the ride was? No. Not a single bit, I didn't know that this was some old-school apparently racist live-action/cartoon hybrid adaptation, I didn't care about the supposed "stakes" of these rigid animatronics was throughout the so-called 'story', all I cared about was that I could look at something amusing and polished and entertaining while sitting down after having queued up for hours and get a 'rush and splash' at the end. I don't care about the IP, I don't have nostalgia for Disney brands (or Marvel or Star Wars brands for that matter) I just want something that looks good, sounds good and is fun.

  10. Jaggs Journeys posted a Sea World update, here are a few interesting maintenance screenshots. https://youtu.be/t3x5tJWbhwc Trident - Reopening ? Looks done... (I thought it had panels on the rides gondola that covered the inside of it.) I wonder when it'll start testing and if it will reopen for the upcoming school holidays. As of today, it's been 111 days since it was last open. Patrick's Jellyfish Frenzy - Boots' Banana Boogie Removed completely, I'd assume its at Movie World being worked on /s Jet Rescue All scaffolding down, the reopening was pushed back by a day... no sign of the 2nd train in the storage bay. Former Vikings Revenge Station Definitely looks like they're connecting that food court up to Storm Coaster/JR tunnel. They've started painting the VRTP Signature Timber near the food court. Jaggs predicts a potential flat ride could go in the space. I'd like to think that but doubt it. Looks like markings for utilities, there are orange lines coming out of the silver box a few seconds later in his video. Castaway Bay - Battle Boats Anyone know what's with all the tape markings on the rides trough?
