  2. I’ll add that I’m happy to see the handler is okay and I hope that there’s no calls for the Tiger’s euthanisation.

  3. INB4 someone starts saying this happened because they were reducing contact with the animals - as there have been several incidents over the years well before the no-contact aims were first touted. I agree, these are inevitable so long as humans share the same spaces as tigers and full no-contact is the necessary end-game. They do have to transition though - the tigers will apparently suffer depression if the handlers simply stop interacting with them. I don't know what they do now, but the welfare of the handlers should be the first priority.

  4. Lucky they're already going ahead with the protected contact plans, 'cause these incidents are an unavoidable cost of being in direct contact with wild animals, no matter how trained they may be. Hopefully the keeper/handler makes a quick recovery. And, to the surprise of absolutely no-one...

  6. A woman has been rushed to a hospital after being mauled by a tiger at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast. The victim, a tiger handler, suffered several cuts and scratches while working with a tiger. Paramedics provided initial care for her deep lacerations before transporting her to Gold Coast University Hospital. The female handler was working with a tiger about 9am this morning when the incident occurred. A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said medics were called to Dreamworld at 9.01am “following an incident involving a tiger”. There, they treated a woman aged in her 30s before taking her to Gold Coast University Hospital. The spokeswoman said the handler was in a stable condition, with injuries to her arm.

  7. Sorry to derail the thread back to the original topic, but the restaurant designs look great. The only thing I'm really keen to see more of is the menu and if they're going to theme the cuisine to the South American jungle theme also. I would love some unique flavours that aren't available elsewhere in the park - even if it's just a few signature dishes and some seasonal specials.

  8. No, and I don't need to have been on it to know that some stats = more thrilling, whereas <null> stats = no thrills. That's why I said 'based on current information'. Quite happy for this to change once "no stats" becomes "some stats"

  9. Hope the trainer is alright and isn't hurt that bad "A person fell over at Dreamworld today. This comes after an accident on the Thunder River Rapids Ride in October 2016 where 4 were killed"

  10. I thought the first priority would be with the tigers. Nobody is forcing the the handlers to be there, but the tigers have no choice.

  11. Given their history with SX360, i'll give it an outside chance at opening before the brisbane olympics.

  12. Wow, a news article about the incident that DOESN’T (as yet) refer to the 2016 incident: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-09-02/tiger-attack-dreamworld-queensland-woman/104299036

  13. No one is disputing his right to defend his team. We know and he knows that media hype when these incidents occur are horrendous. We all agree with him in principle here. Even the poster who called him out in the screen shot agreed with him on that point. However, it was 100% completely unprofessional that he even mentioned his direct competitor's worst ever accident on social media in reference to this. He represents a brand and a directly competing park to the one he mentioned. He could have got his point across quite easily without mentioning Dreamworld or the 2016 accident. If he had , we would have all been supporting him in this. Now, because he directly referenced Dreamworld and the accident, it comes across as extremely petty, uneccessary and unprofessional in the extreme. That one comment is undefendable IMHO and it shows Bikash's complete arrogance and disregard for any sort of decorum. I bet any Dreamworld executive would be furious at this intimation that the park is unsafe after a full 8 years after the incident and various measures and new attractions have been put in place to revive Dreamworld's trust in the publc face. This is nothing but a cheap shot and Bikash would know that , hence why the comment has been deleted.

  14. Hmmm… this sounds an awful like what a Bikash burner account would say.🧐 Sorry, but no. A senior leader does not have any right to mention DW or 2016 in the way he did. Totally unprofessional. He’s not just a ride operator or in middle management that’s passionate about his workplace and having a rant; he’s a senior leader (both in the company and in the industry) and therefore needs to compose himself and express his views accordingly. By all means, put the media in their place for their shitty reporting, lying and exaggerations, and stick up for your staff and the efforts they (and the entire industry for that matter) have gone in terms of excelling safety standards, but don’t do it that way.

  15. Which is what they had already done, Sea World's official account had copy-pasted comments into all 9 News posts spreading further positively-skewed info (after 2 posts of their own that did the same) before he did this, which makes him going on his personal account & commenting a completely useless endeavor, as whatever was said by him wouldn't be viewed or seen as valid/official nearly much as Sea World's comments/posts were. He just did it 'cause he as an individual was pissed, not to help Sea World/VRTP or to share further information (like Sea World's account had), and it shows.
