  1. Sorry, I don’t agree with that. Firstly, not sure where DW is supposed to be a “premium” park, as far as I’m aware DW is supposed to be a family friendly with a healthy mixture of fun/thrills to suit everyone… And you certainly don’t get much more of a family-focused event than HH or SN. What exactly is a “premium” element that SW had that DW didn’t? Did you not see the VIP pumpkin pass as a “premium” add-on? Granted, DW turned on an event where 98% is the exact same as last year, but it still drew a crowd and was a great night out with plenty to see and do. As much as I also enjoyed Spooky Nights, I feel it was much more commercially focused where SW were trying to squeeze every last dollar out of you. Don’t blame them, that’s what those nights are for, but I did end up spending more at SW than DW for pretty much the same experience.

  2. One of my fave past times of being a MW ride op back in the days was telling the people who ran this page (and many of the other non reputable ones) total BS... and then watching them report it as fact by "someone in the know" In fact, a lot of the operators and even supervisors did it and probably still do to this day. Did you know in 2012 that Dreamworld was planning on building Thunderbolt 2.0? And that they were putting the wheel of the Reef Diver onto the arm of the claw to create a brand new thrill ride?

  3. The only source of information so far is from TPSN. TPSN's track record is patchy at best - (the very reason we used to have the fountain of improbability) Claims it's going to be "over 18" Event date is apparently November 1 There is only two weeks until the event The park haven't announced anything, let alone commenced selling tickets.

  4. Can you elaborate further? I have found the opposite in previous years.

  5. Did Happy Halloween & Spooky Nights over the weekend. Spooky nights blows Happy Halloween out of off the Gold Coast. Spooky nights is what you would expect at a theme park and Happy Halloween reminded me of going to my daughters school fete.

  6. The competition was run by Triple M Sydney, but they partnered up with their sister stations in other major capital cities. The Orange train was used and the front car had the competition and sponsor logos on it. The competition ended on April 7th 1999, and riders rode 14 hours per day, completing 6806 laps of the Wildcat Clone. By splitting the winnings (and after taxes) the two winners took home around 93 cents per lap, which would be worth about $1.83 in today's money. I find it extraordinarily unlikely that they were live streaming in 1999. Wonderland's own website had "park cameras" showing various parts of the park and they were updated approximately every 30 minutes. Even if a stream existed, it would be in such terrible quality, and few people would have had the capacity to record and store such media online. Your best bet would be finding news footage from the timeline, which shouldn't be too difficult given you've got the exact dates to search. You could also ask @Spotty for details given his whole family experienced it for the first 3 days. Parkz had a discussion thread on it in 2006 Ultimate Rollercoaster's article - April 12 1999 Illawarra Mercury Article - April 8 1999 1:44 video of the competition on Youtube
