  1. They overhauled Wipeout and shut it a year later. Corkscrew got Sea Vipered in 2010 and shut down in 2014. Of course, not planned retirement - but older rides can have more issues that are too costly to rectify. Don't you mean Kingda bummed?

  2. Hang on a sec, the themed land has to transition at some point doesn't it? The whole park cant be superman themed, nor WoZ themed. What attractions are on the other side of Volcano Bay or Voodoo, are they also tribal/island themed? If not, how is this any different? Actually, I'll answer my own question @TBoy ....If it's ok to Have Gravity Wave / Supernova next to Volcano Bay, therefore it's ok to have Superman next to WoZ.

  3. Went to the park yesterday, didn’t take many photos of any construction/maintenance but was wondering if any of y’all knew what these muted red metal (track?) pieces in Motocoaster’s envelope could be for, before I start to jump to any of my own conclusions.

  4. I love it too, I will be heading there in summer so will be cool to check out. I always love how Funfields puts special effort into theming, it could be the family owned nature that helps put in the special detail rather than corporate ownership who only care about making a profit. The way it fits into both Voodoo and Volcano Bay is one thing I love as well, they put in the effort to make it cohesive (cough cough Superman next to Wizard of Oz)

  5. @franky it wouldn't surprise me if they look at chopping down Superman at SFMM too, can't be easy to maintain that. And then Giant Drop goes to #1, it's much better drop tower in any case imo. I was at Knott's in Sept and I had to laugh about Xcelerator. Even though I'm at Knott's every year (except '20 & '21), riding it I realised it was my first time since 2016 because it's been down so much. Thank you for the correction, I got seriously dyslexic on that lol. I guess we'll have to wait and see. My partner wants to go back to NYC, I'll tell her 2026 would be a good year to go lol (she hates coasters).

  6. Kinda bummed. Was over in the NYC in Sept/Oct but just couldn't fit in the day trip down to the park, considering there were days the ride didn't open. We got some rides in on Xcelerator though while at Knotts, so I'm gonna call that breaking even. The park has confirmed that Zumanjaro is being removed as well, and whatever is coming is not going to be a reimagination, so everything you see is being removed apparently. This means DW's Giant Drop reclaims 2nd place for tallest operating drop tower!

  7. Plenty of rides survive beyond 20 years… they recent poured money into a station overhaul which wouldn’t have happened with planned retirement on the near horizon
