  1. there is a big shipping container next to the slide tower, with construction walls now teasing the new attraction (i can’t remember exactly what it said but it did mention ‘zooming’)

  2. I mean it's pretty clear he means Ardent were focussed on growing Main Event at the expense of dreamworld. And i'm pretty sure that's accurate.

  3. https://www.amusement-rides.com/product/gyro-swing-intamin - Looks as though Claw might possibly be for sale? I know the pictures are of the bigger model but all the stats match up to The Claw. They do have it listed as a 2005 model though (Claw was 2004). Maelstrom opened in 2002 and is still operating and the only other 32 seater Gyro Swing is Goliath at Adventure World. Very interested to see if the ride ends up being sold to another park...

  4. I don’t think we’ll see the train complete the full circuit again until the finishes touches are made to Rivertown. There is a BOH gate behind Jane’s that was used for machinery to access the land during construction. That gate is alongside where the train track goes and because it’s been filled in, it makes access easier. I’d say we’ll see the train completing the loop by Easter.

  5. I think we can all agree it was/is in a complete enough state to open though…

  6. Agree it's probably wishful thinking. they haven't made an announcement yet - which is the sort of thing they'd do to try and take the shine off the success that Dreamworld is having down the road. It's interesting the discussion has continued on for JR & Rivertown whereas Woz has essentially faded to black after opening week. If they've moved to pull it down now because of something in the pipeline, you'd expect to see it parts on site and have it up and running by easter, winter holidays latest. I'm not holding my breath.

  7. Wishful thinking, maybe something is in the pipeline now and they need to get moving on it's removal?

  8. geez, something took someone by surprise - plain white barriers, not even the green hedge panels. It's good they're finally doing something but doing it in the middle of your peak season is a weird look, IMO.

  9. It's really hard to argue with most of the votes above, and I think I agree with most of them. Pretty sad state of affairs to be honest where there is no real contender for runner-up in almost every category.

  10. as long as the ride has a very simple restraint and operating system so we can (hopefully) have less then 4 minute dispatches with the queue line having atleast fans and shade, i’m happy.

  11. Yeah Big Splash is closed this summer, since it was last sold they haven't kept up the maintenance as @themagician said. While they did write to the local government saying that they would reopen after repairs have been competed I will believe it when I see it. I can definitely see sometime next winter that it will quietly be announced that the required maintenance and repairs is just not cost effective and Canberra will lose another summer activity. Canberra currently has 5 outdoor pools, Big Splash being closed brings it down to 4, Phillip pool has also been announced as going as part of another apartment development so we'll have 3 outdoor pools left, 1 of which is very old and not very big
