  1. That's basically them saying instead of spending the money doing a refurb they'd rather something new and more marketable. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that at all, but I'm sure with a decent overhaul the ride still has plenty of life left in her. Remember Sea World said the same about the Pirate Ship before they got rid of it, and it's still running to this day. If it's for sale at the right price, for some parks it would actually be a great buy.

  2. Doomsday’s surrounding area reopened today, with no walls blocking the giant hole in the ground (foundations and wiring still intact), with all Doomsday signage (including the big billboard) removed, the rides safety information board removed, and a sign out the front saying “attraction unavailable.” most of the statues are gone within the area as well, a bit random to reopen imo.

  3. ^before anyone bites, take note - this guy calling a dolphin 'fish' should tell you all you need to know.

  4. I think that's a double edged sword. If they're transparent that it's animals, they'll be accused of pandering to the likes of JFC. Probably accused of going woke or some other pseudo-political flavour of the month. Have a look at the backlash Dreamworld received when they announced the changes to tiger island. Put simply, they're damned in they do, and damned if they don't. Don't get me wrong - I like the transparency - and Dreamworld has been doing more 'heart on their sleeve' comms lately while Village continues to persist with 'pay no attention to the man behind the curtain', but in this one specific case at Sea World, I think being vague about their reasons, even if a few folk bemoan the loss without knowing the reasons why, it's probably better than the backlash they'd receive if they were upfront about it.

  6. Was at Dreamworld today and while they were still only running one train on Jungle Rush (with the longer ride cycle), the ops were fantastic and despite being very busy, the wait time never went over 30mins. Must have just been a bad day yesterday.

  7. With two trains, one train is ran backwards, and one is ran forwards. By already having the trains in these directions it only needs 2 turns on the turntable, whereas one train requires 3 to change direction as a forwards cycle departs the station backwards and returns forwards for the next backwards cycle. When the park is running one train, it completes the innerloop twice and outside loop once, whereas two trains complete the innerloop once and outside loop once.

  8. Greg is taking Dreamworld in the right direction; he is treating it's his personally owned business putting the love and care into it compared to the corporate style mess down the street. It feels like he personally wants everyone visiting to have the best day out possible while Village just want the money and don't care about the guest experience.
