  1. IMHO I wouldn’t call it a fully immersive dark ride with “Creative choice” of the former disco room currently. Hopefully the park realises the error of their ways here, a lot of comments online are negative regarding this in particular. The $$$$$$$ have been spent on the mechanical, and bringing the rest of the ride to the former glory, might as well spend a bit more and bring back this cherished part of the ride. I didn’t expect them to bring in expensive animatronics or other major theming elements, I knew the plan was to restore the opening standard as I posted back on the first page of this thread, but I also don’t blame the general public not being happy with the current state after almost 3 years.
  2. @Gobbledok you must have special vision; because everyone I’ve spoken to or seen comment about the ride have said the disco room is completely dark
  3. Can anyone else foresee mild injuries / slight discomfort from being tossed around a wild mouse track in complete darkness ? Nightmare Mine at Frontier City is the only other example of a coaster that I can think of - but that was just bunny hills and helixes - the exact opposite of a wild mouse. I’m not sure what’s worse - this being a budget decision or a creative one.
  4. There is certainly some credence to that, no doubt. You clearly have skin in the game when it comes this refurb whether you are directly involved or know someone who was. I don’t think anyone (certainly not me) is trying to shit on the effort the people have gone to to get if up and running again. We’re not privy to the intricate details of exactly what was done, the time demand on that, or the costing. However in saying that neither is the GP who will judge the ride on what they see. With such a long downtime, many kids will have aged up to scooby during its closure and will be riding for the first time meaning some parents may also be riding for a first time with said kids. The more I reflect on the pitch black wild mouse section, the more I think it comes across as either incomplete or not-functioning. It feels like there should be “something” happening in there and it’s not working. If that section is entirely to plan/design by management and not left that way by budget restrictions then in my opinion the management direction has unfortunately made the overall product feel somewhat incomplete and that is an unfair reflection on the people that worked hard to get it back up and running.
  5. Flash closed at 5, SE was down until 7:20 ish and Rivals probably had around 40 min of downtime at the start of the event.
  6. I think that’s a bit of a harsh comparison. Dreamworld have presented their new flat ride is the best possible way. It looks great. But it’s also a flat ride, outside with some static props. Scooby is a fully immersive dark ride that has had done to it exactly what everyone here asked for, returned to its original state and it looks great. I also expect a member of Jo public to wonder what takes 3 years. But if you’re calling yourself a theme park enthusiast it’s bit sad if you don’t understand how long it takes to completely gut and replace the entire mechanical and control system of a coaster as complex block wise as Scooby. We are all also well aware that it shut early for various reasons and a good portion of that time was spent waiting for the Mack order. Like props to Dreamworld but they build a flat ride. And still took a year.
  7. If you’re sitting in the front row you can see everything. I’m glad this ride is back, but oh my goodness… the most over hyped and underwhelming ride reopening in history! What the eff took them so long? Did the CFMEU manage this project or something? I really want to love Village, but it’s clear taking guest money is priority #1, providing an amazing guest experience is priority #4 or #5. Here’s a quick comparison of 2 most recent ride openings/reopenings… DW: wow, wow, incredible, oh look at that detail! MW: hmm… ok I guess… I mean at least they’ve done it…
  8. You've never thought about it because it happens subconsciously Anticipatory Postural Adjustments (APAs) are unconscious, automatic muscle activities that occur before a voluntary movement to keep you balanced and stable, proactively counteracting the expected shift in your body's centre of mass
  9. I’ve ridden space mountain many times, though that’s entirely irrelevant I don’t need an eye test, my vision is perfect You’re just talking shit
  10. Had 4 rides yesterday. Agree that I was very happy with the dark ride section, a few minor things such as the rotating character not rotating but otherwise would consider it back to the OG opening standard. Former disco room is definitely a huge let down, would have been better if everything “next gen” was left in place there, I can’t imagine why it would have been a creative decision to leave it black. All the reasons mentioned above for safety, and it genuinely makes it much more scarier for kids. Tiki room, very happy with and I would say better than the original. Great to have the Scooby Animatronic back.
  11. Finally This forum after 2 years can rest
  12. They really have a terrible track record for restoring theme elements after a massive shut down. That west shutdown with the new station and boats was the same. Same goes for years upon years worth of justice league closures. It's literally like, somewhere along the line, someone gives absolutely no f*cks for any of it and any planned repairs are canned. I just can't work out if it's apathy or if its budgetary. It's honestly pathetic that everyone seems comfortable with the results they keep producing. At some point I would have thought someone with an opinion that mattered would have had a word and a focus would have shifted to actually doing something about it parks wide, but, nope. Still seems the same as usual. I can't for the life of me think its because nobody in their maintenance teams either cares enough or has the skill to make these repairs, so it only leaves me to think it has to be a management decision. Village MO would tend to suggest they don't allocate the funds and the labour to not only fixing the issues, but to keep them maintained/working. I remember a time when they wouldn't want to open with things broken/out of service. They would actively hold up openings while repairs were attempted, and if the ride supe made a note of it in their diary because it wasn't fixed, it would get passed on to maintenance teams and you would normally see something done about it within a week.
  13. Thank you we wouldnt accept that down the road so lets make sure we hold all parks to high standard and account so they keep delivering better quality Rivertown is so well done id hate to see it decline after the shine wears off Defects liability periods are a thing but that all depends on how this was structured and delivered the perk may have done elements themselves and also when it comes to av most warranty is all return to supplier so its not like someone is coming down to jungle rush to fix it themselves
  14. I don't accept that and see it as a cop out. If you can't maintain your standards while doing other new projects that bring in additional revenue, then you shouldn't do other projects. We've had occurrences over the more than two decades that this forum has existed where someone has called out an effect not working and it's very quickly been resolved. Sometimes things have been waiting parts or a qualified tech and it takes longer. And sometimes the park is just poor at maintaining things. It's not ideal for it to have this kind of issue right before peak season, but sometimes things happen and i'm prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt in the short term - so I agree - hopefully they get back on top of things in the near future - but saying KC and BB are the reason for the rest of the park falling into disrepair should never be seen as an acceptable excuse.
