The fact is a girl was seriously hurt on an attraction. Now that ride, djrappa, could be at a major theme park or a local carnival... all parks, big and small should take this incident seriously. Anyway aren't we all compassionate humans... instead about arguing about amusement parks/carnivals, shouldn't we be seeking to ensure the girl has a speedy recovery

WLS Update 6/1/03.......THE RED TRAIN RETURNS!
ScReAMmachine! replied to Jaggie's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Sorry mate but thats bull poop. Me and my friend went on the red train today and it slowed down in the breaks.... it just didnt stop completely but it almost did. So i'd recommend you get your facts straight. Its NOT completely disabled. Anyhows where did u take that video? is that in a staff area, coz i haven't been there before. -
Joz u seem to have nothing better to do in your time mate. Yes, there is more to life than worrying about a couple of lion cubs. Find a new hobby.

Could/Is Wonderland relocating or changing setup?
ScReAMmachine! replied to rewindniwer's topic in Theme Park Discussion
A friendly message to rewindniwer: Fantasy worlds are amazing places, and its nice to see that you're still living in one when you think of the park. Does your vision include huge rollercoasters and new rides?? At least be thoughtful and write in proper english so that everyone can share these visions with you. -

There's as much chance the operator will slip as your camera falling out of your hands whilst riding. Btw... have you heard of lockers? Surely wonderland should have them. Can't you place it there when you're about to go on rides. Then pick it up later and take photos. -

Other than the fact that your last post about the camera girl was meaningless, full stops are a great grammar tool. They let people catch their breath before continuting... Please consider using it sometime mate, otherwise you'll have people passing out coz they cant have a breather! (In the Xmas spirit... of course ) -
It really is quite amazing how ppl continue to get all excited over rumours... when they know none are true. Most of you were young kids or toddlers when the last major attraction (probe) was added in 95. Except to be a frail old bag before you see the next one. Aren't i very optimistic!!??
-
Yeah mate when u look at dreamworld, our timeline really started in 95 with the wipeout, then tot, giant drop, cyclone, rugrats...... cant wait for the 2004 line-up up here. gonna have some good competition between the parks.

:?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :!: :?: :?: :?: :?:

You'll find the timeline would finish in 98 with Skyrider... if you're talking about rides. Btw daniel, forgive us if our grammar is not up to par with yours.

We all need to think realistically... all those rides that have removed in the past years will be replaced by something big - ONE ride???? One ride wont change the public's bad vieww of the park I honestly dont think u can justify removing that many rides to make way for a new attraction (which probably isnt even planned anyway) Does anyone know, or have any ideas about what BIG thing they have in stall next???

hmm... Its time to go... Wonderland Sydney!

A solution: let ppl take their cameras on but hold them personally liable for damages that result from possible impacts on other guests or the ride itself. This involves disabilities, ride damage etc. Indemnify the park and its staff... it will be a harsh lesson for those 'invincibles' -
     doesnt going on the real thing satisfy your craving? why not go to uni, study engineering and build the real thing.

I can't believe we're all arguing over the issue of SAFETY. It seems quite clear that from my perspective that some people are more concerned about their $6000 camera than the safety of themselves or others... im sure if someone damaged their camera they would do everything to get the park to pay for it, despite the 'no liability' rule What do I call that? Being selfish Any item taken on a ride with high speeds instantly becomes a projectile - a missle - if it leaves the hands on the owner. Regardless of how 'experienced' on the ride you are YOU CANNOT rule out the possibility that the item will leave your hand. Isn't it a wise decision, not just for the parks, but for us to not use of these items. Cameras, mobiles, walkmans they're all the same!!!!!!! It can hit an unsuspecting guest for example... on rollercoasters where queue lines are beneath the track. Richard, you wrote ... im assuming that you are thinking of major accidents... but morestill why not think of guests who are hit or suffer from brusing as a result of being hit with a camera or other loose device... im sure the number would be at least moderate. I found the points made by Daniel were valid because he was (he claims) a ride operator with first hand experience... but for some reason i just found his account was disabled. Thats the cost of knowledge... obviously someone who presents their opinion, and then disliked or in contrast to another person, they will be booted off. Its a shame that we cant post our own beliefs and views on issues - because if the moderator dont like it, you get banned. I refuse to be part of a FORUM where you cant freely express your views, so yea, think of this as my last post (im sure the moderator didnt like what i wrote, so ill be disabled anyway). -
Sounds like a great day out!!!!

Rich as im sure you know, rides are unpredictable and may stop or face mechanical problems at any time... its not just about your ability to 'hold on to the camera', but moreso due to the nature of the rides themselves. But hey, lets do it anyway! I can't believe the extremities people go through to take footage on a ride... if i worked at a theme park, whosoever purposely took their camera onto the ride (after being warned) would be personally escorted out of the park. Prevention is better than cure. Its better not to allow people on rides like Probe with cameras than to wait and see the consequences of a staff/guest injury.
