Looking at Wet 'n' Wild Sydney's attendance trends, I'd say that decrease is due to both DW & the general state of the park's operations. Assuming you're speaking in the present tense & responding to @Redboost, nearly everything has re-opened - just Wipeout, The Giant Drop & maybe Rocky Hollow Log Ride to go. You can't blame them for leaving it sitting there. The decision was unexpected & like I've pointed out a couple of times, it's removal is probably going to be complex. It might require the temporary closure of at least 1 extra attraction at times - something they can't afford to do right now.

Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster Reopening [Dec 26, 2016]
Jamberoo Fan replied to Reanimated35's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I think this is the closest we got to a 'timeline' @joz which would indicate it closing again tomorrow when school holidays finish in QLD. The only flaw to that 'timeline' is that SDSC actually re-opened on Boxing Day & not the beginning of the QLD school holidays - so peak season is probably what they meant instead of the QLD school holidays. Given there is still no announced scheduled maintenance for SDSC, I'd say that 'timeline' is no longer valid anyway (unless they did mean peak season - when that finishes exactly I don't know). It also points out that the thematic enhancements commenced during it's initial maintenance period late last year (but like you said, it does not exactly imply that it was the plan during it's scheduled maintenance).- 202 replies

Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster Reopening [Dec 26, 2016]

@AllegroCrab, in my opinion, I wouldn't think so until either whenever Arkham Asylum re-opens or when peak season finishes, whichever happens first.- 202 replies

Not exactly 'an option' - you can only pay per lap - not pay per lap or per 'hourly' session as before. Are the in-park prices (below) different to the online prices above?

Let's Speculate - Movie World Developments

In case anyone forgot, the hotel is pretty much confirmed to be on MW's grass overflow car park. This is dependent on the approval of the Kopps Road car park - which is why I don't think there has been any progress on the hotel/lakeside/entertainment precinct yet. I feel they are all connected somehow but how they are connected is where I'm confused. As if for what would go in the yellow space, I feel the swamp would remain (possibly landscaped to look better too). I feel if VRTP spent big on the 'lakeside' precinct, the swamp would end up like Paradise Pier at DCA (replace California Screamin' with MW's hypercoaster & everything else except the bay as TopGolf/anything else that's part of the 'lakeside precinct'). I can imagine the 'lakeside precinct' being built adjunct or into TopGolf's main building (making TopGolf the standout attraction out of the whole precinct) & even being connected to MW via a 2nd gate near the hypercoaster entrance. As we know, there is also an 'entertainment precinct' planned. I don't know if this is the same as the 'lakeside precinct' (though I feel it possibly is) but if it isn't, I'd expect it to be located near the hotel. This is where my 'connection problem' comes in - how would they connect the hotel to TopGolf via the lakeside/entertainment precinct if there is a massive hypercoaster & car park in the way? Surely for something similar to Downtown Disney there would be some 'consistency'. It would look odd walking through a buzzing & vibrant dining/shopping precinct at night before having to cross a decent section of empty car park or a non-operating hypercoaster site to get to the other half of the precinct. Something I just thought was does 'entertainment precinct' actually meant to mean 'Entertainment Road precinct'? That way from the hotel, the 'precinct' runs along Entertainment Road, crosses MW's car park entrance/exit road, goes around the hypercoaster before heading west towards TopGolf & the swamp's southern bank. One problem with that idea is that I think MW can't build near Entertainment Road as it is part of the motorway corridor. If they did build such a precinct on the edge of their property though, they would probably need to remove part of the existing car park. If they lit the hypercoaster up at night with a light show on it's supports, it would make walking around the hypercoaster site fit the feel of a vibrant retail precinct more.- 30 replies

For everyone's information, it is actually 4 rides in 1 week as far as I know. Keep in mind, MW has more chance of being reported in the media than the other VRTPs - SW has only 2 proper rides currently while WNWGC has an extreme unlikelihood of any incident occurring to have a stoppage for - most of their rides are waterslides after all. Also, given some of the media are referencing the 2004 fire on WWF, can one of the media outlets be kind enough to ask MW what caused the fire so we can solve that mystery once and for all? Nine News took your advice: Not having full knowledge probably doesn't cut it (unless they deliberately avoided to learn the knowledge or published something that they knew probably might be incorrect due to having no knowledge on the topic) but misrepresentation of events would. It depends on the exact wording. Most reports are probably not defamation but it is the fact that they are suddenly reporting them with greater frequency after the DW incident that is annoying people the most as the media think the heightened 'fear' of theme parks would sell their media products/advertising space more than usual. VRTP haven't - none of the media have been inside the parks. Other than that 1 media statement read outside the park by the General Manager for the AA incident, they have only been releasing brief statements, which is a wise thing to do so it does not give the impression you are 'hiding' something to the media. It's only the Gold Coast theme parks (and potentially one day, Aussie World) they are reporting on because they are the iconic theme parks and are only kilometres away from DW, where the recent fatal incident occurred. If AW, LPS, LPM, Funfields, Jamberoo or even Wet 'n' Wild Sydney etc. made the news more frequently than usual then you know they are targeting theme parks in Australia overall.

Dreamworld reopening - the summer season
Jamberoo Fan replied to wipeout94's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Just noticed on DW's updated park map that they have re-coloured the pathways of Town Of Gold Rush from the green of Main Street back to red. Also, I like DW's new front cover of the park map - it really makes it look like you are going on a journey of discovery with the unique use of the DW Globe: -
RRRC & EFM have the exact same ride layout - one is just higher due to being a suspended rollercoaster. Whilst I haven't seen EFM's theming, I believe RRRC has more immersive theming still plus for it's target market, the rollercoaster is a lower height making it easier to be brave to ride. EFM does have better restraints though in my opinion as it clearly has more room for the legs - RRRC has little room making it uncomfortable (particularly when you hit the brake run - the lap bar goes straight into your abdomen) - the taller you are, the more uncomfortable. So I think RRRC wins this round in my opinion - it just suits the target market better.

Dreamworld Lego Store construction
Jamberoo Fan replied to Theme Park Girl's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Judging from the latest photos of that area @themagician, I don't think that part will open on January the 28th but I do hope it does. At least, the LEGO Store is fully complete by then which I'm very confident it will be. Also, DW has updated their park map since The Fire Machine has finished. They fixed up the small mistake in the last park map where the Surf Central retail outlet's number marker was placed on top of the LEGO Store's external entrance. Rocky Hollow Log Ride is still not on the park map but from the park map, here are some new food outlets coming soon to DW presumably next to the LEGO Store in the new Market Place area: -
'The Hidden World Of Travelling Carnival Rides'
Jamberoo Fan posted a topic in Theme Park Discussion
No, this isn't about a new documentary on the history or unique facts of travelling carnival rides. This is another story from our new (negatively-biased) amusement ride correspondent, 7 News: The Facebook embed replaces the same video that is in that location in the article. The only difference, apart from being a Facebook embed, is that it is missing the story's introduction from 7 News Sydney's Friday & Saturday presenter, Michael Usher, who says while sitting in front of a TV screen which says 'DANGEROUS RIDES' while showing an image of an operating chair swing & the loop of a red rollercoaster: -
JR because it maintains it's speed more consistently throughout the ride. Other than the restraints & slightly lower launch acceleration, this is mainly where MDMC loses quality as throughout the ride it is doing more decelerating than accelerating (or just even maintaining the 72km/h final launch speed). The deceleration also affects the theme of being in a MotoGP race - Have you ever seen a MotoGP race where the start lights turn green, the grid accelerates away to go through the 1st corner only to let go of the throttle & let gravity take it's course for the rest of the race? Doubt they would even finish 1 lap if that actually happened. @Santa07, if they did re-theme MDMC, it should be to a theme where the themed vehicle accelerates and then lets gravity do the rest. I can think of some sort of 'space launch' theme where the launch is to go out into space and then the zero gravity of space does the rest so you can 'take a tour of the Universe' before arriving back at the station to finish your journey through space. That idea would more suit a VR experience though.

Topgolf Gold Coast Construction
Jamberoo Fan replied to New display name's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The capacity of each is about 200 (north-west of main outdoor tank) & 300 (east of main outdoor tank). Remember, there are plans for a 'lakeside precinct' as well as an 'entertainment precinct', which could be built in the vicinity - whether both of them are the same thing is still to be found out but I think that's likely. No, I didn't as I didn't think it would make much difference - the parking spaces would still be roughly the same size.- 499 replies

Topgolf Gold Coast Construction
Jamberoo Fan replied to New display name's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I did a rough calculation and think the car park opposite the AOS can fit about 100 more cars (factoring in any future landscaping if it was used for TopGolf) than the one next to the main outdoor tank (200 approx. capacity for that car park), which already has landscaping.- 499 replies

Ah, yeah, true - I was only thinking of the non-automated cars at the time, which is likely the most used car type still. In any case, most cars are not designed to stop if something is wrong.
-
Cars are not designed to stop if something is wrong. In certain circumstances, they are designed to protect you by various means if something is wrong but not stop. If they did stop when something is wrong, it could cause a rear-end collision involving several cars on a motorway and if it did not cause such a collision, the road toll would probably be a lot lower than what it usually is.

Arkham Asylum stoppage/evacuation - January 2017
Jamberoo Fan replied to DaptoFunlandGuy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
He did mention that briefly in an answer to one of the media's questions: Also @elemist, similar to @AlexB's case, I believe he did have a PR/media staff member with him. You can hear in the background someone announce "Last questions, guys" at 01:43 in 7 News Gold Coast's live stream of his media statement/questions session. Probably Because You Were Just Stuck Inside The Building Not a high Up And They Could Easily Be Able To Evacuate You The people on Arkham were stuck on a chain lift. As you can see @Prequel, @Rollercoaster_Lover❤️ was referring to Superman Escape not Arkham Asylum. Shares didn't really take a 'hit' despite the intense media coverage - the share price did go down but it was by an insignificant 3%. That decrease could have been caused by anything including the normal day-to-day stock trading. There's a good chance the decrease is a coincidence. And like Nine Morning News said, they 'recovered'...nearly - there was an increase today by 2%.- 92 replies

Arkham Asylum stoppage/evacuation - January 2017
Jamberoo Fan replied to DaptoFunlandGuy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
This might be difficult to watch (in regard to the media's questions) but here is MW General Manager, Greg Yong's short media statement/question session covered naturally by 7 News: Looking at social media, I believe another ride at MW had an e-stop today but in case the media are reading this forum, I won't say which ride. It will remain a mystery. I haven't experienced VR but that's what I'd expect to happen if the ride stopped suddenly. I think it would operate like it would while waiting in the station for the rollercoaster to start. To the media, fear gets viewers, clicks, listeners & sells newspapers.- 92 replies

Road Runner Stuck
Jamberoo Fan replied to Gold Coast Amusement Force's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I've seen a lot of sensationalist media stories over time but that takes the cake. Road Runner Rollercoaster stopping might have upset some of the children unlucky enough to be on that particular cycle of the ride but it is only a family rollercoaster that was working as it was designed to. 7 News is starting to get a reputation with over-sensationalist stories & I've lost faith in their journalism as a result of this story. At this rate, 7 News will report on when a carousel refuses to spin or when a bumper car uncontrollably spins in circles. If anyone wants to complain about the story, I think you can by using this feedback form. 7 News has to be very careful that they don't cripple the theme park industry on the Gold Coast any further given these types of stories are only being shown on the local news and not the news of interstate locations as the local Gold Coast community is, to my understanding, the main market of the Gold Coast theme parks - not interstate/international visitors - but I'm sure most of the Gold Coast residents know that a stoppage like this is normal & will continue to visit the theme parks.
