Construction on MW's hypercoaster begun in July - we are well past 4 months now but like @mba2012 said, they probably meant vertical construction - I've got that happening in a 4.5 month period (early March to late July 2017). -

Remember, it was only a guess based on SE & it's actually the next 3 months & 2 weeks - not 5 months. Sooner than you think! But to answer your question, firstly, footings need to be finished before supports are added. With SE, there is an indoor section and I don't know when that indoor track was installed so maybe consider the possibility of the hypercoaster's footing placement finishing/track installation starting in early February rather than early March 2017 - this might be more accurate if SE's indoor track was indeed installed first & a week or so before the outdoor track started installation. But given I don't know this for sure, I've left it as early March 2017 as the starting date for track installation & the finishing date for footing placement - it's highly likely it won't be any later than that. Secondly, the track & support parts need to actually arrive on site - this I said would probably begin to happen in about 2 weeks time. In SE's case, they didn't arrive all at once - they arrived in lots over 1 month so given this hypercoaster is going to be very long, the delivery of track/support parts would probably take longer than a 1 month time period. Again, it's only a guess based on SE. They are 2 different projects and there are many things that could make my guess timetable inaccurate such as different soil compositions, delays (of numerous kinds), different manufacturers, launch vs lift hill etc. It's all indicative in the end after all. -

The Queensland Times reported: The last sentence is clearly referring to DW but I'm unsure if that information has come from an official spokesperson. myGC.com.au also reported an extra part of the Industrial Relations Minister's quote: The Courier-Mail reported: -

In my guess timetable I created over a month ago, I put supports going up around early March 2017. This is assuming the hypercoaster opens on Boxing Day 2017. -
I believe the beach volleyball court is there for hiring out by groups. It adds a revenue stream for the park. Mammoth Falls is under scheduled maintenance. SkyCoaster & FlowRider were suddenly put under 'scheduled' maintenance recently (with no future opening date yet either) while ZipLines is probably SBNO like you said.

I agree with that but why haven't they done that for other popular characters in the past?

Just noticed MW put a webpage on their website purely dedicated to a Superman character meet & greet. I know a Superman character hasn't roamed MW in years and while it has recently returned, why would it warrant it's own webpage?

Great to see they are starting to enclose the main Tornado of The Perfect Storm! Thanks for finding & sharing that for us, @TomiJ! Also, I like how ProSlide has a model of Jamberoo's Funnel Web/The Perfect Storm combination (minus the enclosure of The Perfect Storm's main Tornado) at the IAAPA Attractions Expo: Image: Theme Park Review

Well given you spoke about loops/rolls in plurals, I'd say yes based on what you said and assuming you saw the plans: -

Whilst I understand some concerns of the residents, I think they are forgetting that it is an overflow car park so it wouldn't be used for nearly 2/3 of the year but if their campaign keeps up, MW might need to 'announce' their intentions (i.e. the hotel) for the existing grass overflow car park so as to show them their need for the Kopps Road land. I read it like that too but they did put the comma in front of the bracket so despite it not being written the best, I think they meant the rides until 11pm and given Fright Nights is very recent & operates until 11pm I believe, it probably was that they were referring to as it's likely to be fresh in their memory but still those late night events only occur for a total of about 3 weeks per year I believe? If you live there for 5 years, you'd think they would know MW closes normally at 5pm.- 499 replies

For comparison, this is one located about 50 metres away from those things (again portion of @mattcrombie's photo): ...so it's probably transformers etc. like others have said it probably is. -

The electrical components in the SE construction photo look similar in colour to the things in the portion of @mattcrombie's photo I posted. The blue thing in that portion also has a similar design. -

This part of one of @mattcrombie's photos reminds me of this photo of SE's construction. It might explain the large crates and if it is the same thing (I'm not 100% sure so can someone confirm?), it looks like things are starting to happen apart from more footings! -

For those who haven't seen it already, here is an article from the Gold Coast Bulletin about how DW is caring for the animals during the park's temporary closure: The article also included photos of DW staff with the koalas. -

True - VRTP/MW would very likely have to pay for sound barriers. If the hotel is 9 storeys (as rumoured), that alone would be blocking the sight lines to the park so installing sound barriers behind the hotel next to the M1 would be no problem.- 499 replies

The QLD Government could just put sound barriers along the M1 if there is none already there. Here is the zoning (green = open space, pink with red stripes = light density residential - large lot precinct): The dotted blue line is the lot border. VRTP owns the land but who knows how the community sees the land as. I think traffic issues are going to be the most divisive issue regarding the car park.- 499 replies

If you referring to this from Mack Rides home page: ...it says 'the industry' not 'Mack Rides'. Even if they freely spoke of the new hypercoaster at the IAAPA Attractions Expo, it would only be to people in industry and they are unlikely to be as excited over it as theme park enthusiasts would so any information would probably not make it's way to theme park enthusiasts. Given the recent Thunder River Rapids incident, if the media found out something new about the hypercoaster from someone at the IAAPA Attractions Expo, I think it would be published as news. -

@XxMrYoshixX, I don't know if you realised but you already pretty much posted that? -
The Daily Mail published this article about 20 hours after I posted the Alder Construction tender advertisement that the Gold Coast Bulletin didn't mention had the word 'hypercoaster' in it. Given it was shortly after the Thunder River Rapids incident, I assumed The Daily Mail saw my post featuring the tender advertisement/link (I thought it'd be too good to be true if they didn't) but for all I know, they might have actually did research based on the Gold Coast Bulletin article & it was all a coincidence in the end. Also, after I posted the above, Ardent Leisure's share price dropped 1% each day for another 2 days. Both were not significant drops but those drops led their share price to go out of their 2 year trend again on the 2nd day. The day after, it rose by 0.5% - taking it just back into their 2 year trend. The sharemarket calmed down again in regards to Ardent Leisure after that day and has been calm ever since but overall, their share price is still significantly lower than it was pre-incident.
