Judging from the plans seen in this image, I don't think that temporary wall will become an access way to Market Place particularly given there is a door immediately next to it (you can see it to the left of @Theme Park Ninja's photo). It probably will become a permanent wall (maybe with windows). The plans also show no access to Market Place from Surf Central. Again, probably a wall with windows. Kodak Express has the ATM blocking it access to Market Place I believe. The dining area/kitchen you suggested makes good sense as Market Place is supposed to be a 'food hall' but in your guess, you only drew seating areas/walkways (unless the 2 squares behind the first aid room are them? But they are extremely small for a food shop) - there would need to be room for the shops themselves as well as the kitchens. Like in my guess, I drew an approximate location for such shops/kitchens. Showbag Alley is also very likely to return as the DW website states it it having 'renovations' so I put it in the most narrow or 'alley'-like spot as possible, which is right behind Main Street Emporium - maybe ruling out access to Market Place from Main Street Emporium. The location I put Showbag Alley in is very similar to it's original location. Having access from Main Street Emporium to Market Place somehow (maybe a doorway between 2 showbag stands?) would be a good idea as all tourist attractions have their main souvenir shop at their exit. Market Place's former Last Stop Shop was hardly the main souvenir shop in DW - it was more of a last minute reminder to guests about keeping memories of their visit. Main Street Emporium is definitely DW's main souvenir shop. But where did the first aid room come from? I don't think DW would block off that end as that was the original exit of DW/entrance of Market Place. Whilst it would be convenient for guests walking from Ocean Parade, the very 'hidden' nature of the new entrance of Market Place would likely get guests coming from other areas of the park confused about the location of the park exit unless they decide to walk into the Lego Store as their exit or DW does decide to build a new main exit inbetween the Lego Store/City Hall. After all, it is next to DW's entrance - the logical place for an exit - and it is very wide, allowing smooth, quick & easy exiting of park guests. -

Nevertheless, like my quote says, it seems VR Coaster/Mack Rides has 2 projects of that type underway. Just don't know which parks they are for. If you speak for the majority, tell DW that (quote from DW CEO referring to introduction of VR on MDMC): Remember, DW has already added VR to a 2nd attraction - Corroboree. I'm not endorsing VR (having not experienced it yet myself) but I feel it will be a trend in theme parks (whether we like it or not) at least in the short term. If DW thinks the general public wants VR attractions, then VRTP might be thinking the same too. And with a limited theme park industry in Australia compared to most of the world, I'd expect a lot more VR attractions per park here than in other continents. It's also probably going to become a general rule of theme park rides (again, at least in the short term) that the less themed the on-ride experience is, the more chances of VR. That's why I think there is a chance VR could be added to this rollercoaster as most (or maybe all) of the track layout will be unthemed due to the size & location of it. Also, it's highly coincidental that: Mack Rides is the manufacturer of this new rollercoaster (like the quote says, they're also partners with VR Coaster to develop pure VR coasters) The new rollercoaster is probably opening after June 2017 (fits the 'not before 2017 / 2018' timeline mentioned in the quote) AA only recently started using VR Coaster technology (indicates that MW has been talking to them or are maybe 'testing the waters' of the VR technology operations/market before this new rollercoaster goes operational) The 1st existing rollercoaster to add VR to it opened in mid-September 2015 - 3 months later, MW's rollercoaster DA was submitted/approved. Maybe MW took the opportunity for Australia to be a world leader in this type of rollercoaster especially given before that time period they would have been in talks with Mack Rides? Like @Tim Dasco said, VR is optional/a recharge in all cases too so if you don't like VR or just prefer the traditional way to ride rollercoasters then just don't use it. Also, not everyone may be a fan of the Batman franchise. There may be people who would really like to be in a VR world of another franchise. If VR rollercoasters are just simply a short lasting trend, it won't take much to remove the VR headsets completely or they could become 'seasonal' attractions. And if everyone is over VR by Boxing Day 2017 and MW decided to drop a possible VR element in the new rollercoaster, there would still be a massive rollercoaster there ready for operations anyway. Given for years it has seemed unlikely Australia would ever get a hypercoaster at a minimum, a pure VR coaster would nowadays be the most likeliest 'world's best' rollercoaster Australia could get (unless we did a faster, longer & higher TOT). I do think though that this new rollercoaster is a hypercoaster at a minimum anyway. Still, I haven't found anything yet to rule out a VR experience on this new rollercoaster - the opposite is happening so far...more connections are being found but in the end, it is still just coincidences so far. This is just all speculation so far. -

This would be a good idea though Kids’ WB! Fun Zone once had a dodgem cars (Taz's Hollywood Cars) which only recently got removed for a new purpose. They could bring it back bigger and better than ever in a new location within the Zone though? This gave me an idea for MW's main entrance/exit roads - convert them into dual purpose roads. Until 1:30pm, have 75% of the lanes allowing inbound traffic then after 1:30pm, have 75% of the lanes take outbound traffic (1:30pm being the halfway point between 10am & 5pm). This can't be done with painted arrows (like the current MW car park) - it would need to be done with a traffic lighting system that utilises arrows above the roadway (like on the Sydney Harbour Bridge). It also need to work in conjunction with the Entertainment Road intersections' traffic lights. I think this is already the case as Main Street branches down into the Kids’ WB! Fun Zone much like how it branches down towards SDSC. Unless you're talking about a entire new street, then it would need a different name so visitors don't get confused. I believe the current rumours are of a 9 floor hotel. A few people spoke of the possibility of a future 2nd MW entrance - keep this in mind: When MW was originally designed, Main Street was the focus so when you entered the park & turned right you entered the 'movie set'. What everyone suggested is fine but MW would have to ensure Main Street remains what it is meant to be - the 'main' street of the park. The Grand Archway can simply be duplicated - all that is needed is room for a 2nd Fountain Of Fame which includes stars on the ground for more modern Hollywood actors/actresses etc.- 499 replies

In my opinion, given the scale of the rollercoaster that is being constructed, we will only see theming in the land next to Justice League. Like I pointed out in an image I posted previously (above), I'm expecting nothing more than 1 narrow but immersively themed show building at a maximum. Within the show building, it may include theming immediately after you leave the station or just before arrive you at the station. It may even have great theming in the queue or a pre-show room like Batman Adventure etc. The externaI sides of a show building may even be themed like Justice League or DCSVU. I also like to point out again my speculation that this could one of the first rollercoasters in the world that could be built purely for VR: The only way to figure out if Movie World is associated with this is if someone can figure out how many rollercoasters Mack Rides are manufacturing. If 2 are currently scheduled for completion in the timeframe given above & Movie World's one of those, Movie World's rollercoaster could be one of those designed specifically for virtual reality. Adding a VR element (particularly one when the rollercoaster is built for it) would allow the entire rollercoaster track to be immersively themed rather than just the station. The only strengthening of this speculation that I've had is when I found out that VR Coaster was indeed the company that did AA's VR, which indicates MW has been speaking to them recently but about how many projects? One of the world's 1st rollercoasters built for VR (rather than the other way around) would surely count as "one of the world's best theme park drawcards" particularly if it is a hyper-(or bigger)coaster that rivals the best of their type with great theming to one of the most popular entertainment brands globally. I haven't experience GL (and don't know much about the GL franchise) so I can't judge the theming quality or whether it has a narrative but judging from what I've read here, it is very minimal but does have a narrative. AA had no on-ride theming (until VR was added) but it's pre/post-ride theming seems pretty good. Even when it operated as LW, whilst there was no on-ride theming (it was themed to a car chase after all), the Chinatown entrance, cinema/garage, car scrapyard etc. made up for it. Batwing Spaceshot is even themed enough - you're just travelling in the 'Batwing' up in the air & back to the ground - the giant pictures of the 'Batwing' attached to the ride proves this. To sum up, every ride at MW has some sort of 'narrative' & this new rollercoaster I'm sure won't disappointed narrative-wise. Like in my image above, there is a chance the rollercoaster may dive or have the brake run over the swamp at it's narrowest point. A few fountains inserted into the swamp around there may add a bonus feature/theming to the ride. They may even clean up the swamp to make it more scenic particularly with the lakeside precinct due to begin construction in the future. -

I'll add it when there is more framework up on that side. Anyway, with that confirmation you gave us, I feel more certain that this is the layout of the new Lego Store/Market Place: @AlexB, on NearMaps, does the Lego Store octagon equal to 350 square metres like DW stated it will? Also, I just noticed another entrance in an earlier posted photo so here's another 'artist' impression: -
I've haven't noticed anything like that in Jamberoo's DA's (otherwise I wouldn't be contemplating some of the other proposed rides as seriously anymore). It does make sense though. Maybe laws are different between QLD & NSW or Jamberoo has an expiration date very far away in the future? I don't think Jamberoo would go to all that effort over 5 years to apply for development, go to that Panel twice as well as to the Land & Environment Court to get the whole Kangaroo Island masterplan approved in 2012 only to have it expire in 2014. I also think the design of Kangaroo Island (with the proposed Platypus River going under Funnel Web for starters) meant it all had to be sent in as 1 DA.

I know this all too well @AlexB (It's frustrating me too) but be honest, it is a lot of reading sometimes - I just don't have the time. I do look back at some previous pages of topics to check it hasn't been posted already. I also do use the search engine when I need it. And I'm not the type to point out how right I was (sorry, it looked that way). I will say though I might be a bit too confident regarding predictions as I've accurately predicted a lot of global events lately. @YLFATEEKS, I'm well aware of all those sources you posted. I also forgot about those fence poles. I think we all assumed they were for TopGolf originally so when the rollercoaster began construction, I forgot about them. If a photo was posted with the fence completed, I'd probably have remembered it better. I'll say MW kept the current overflow car park undeveloped just in case for future plans - it would be a waste of money to seal it only to remove it a few years later particularly for something that is only used during peak periods. It will probably remain undeveloped until the future plans come to fruition. The new car park looks designed as a replacement for the existing overflow car park and looks pretty permanent given firstly, it's not part of the main VRTP property and secondly, would be used more often (due to the future plans) than the current one.- 499 replies

I'd always imagined them adding a new show building immediately next to Justice League. I'm not familiar with the Justice League ride but if it has the same exit as the Batman Adventure rides, they could make a new themed internal exit within such a new show building. It would also allow a new themed queue (or pre-ride segments) for the rollercoaster as well as house the station & any possible dark ride sections. Being in that location would also allow it to blend into the Justice League show buildings. Given an extra DA was submitted for a new sound stage (not Sound Stage 9) - it could possibly be for that. The only thing is the staff road/security gate located there - maybe it can be built into the show building, diverted around/under the rollercoaster or converted into a rollercoaster maintenance yard? I don't know how important that road currently is to MW/Village Roadshow Studios operations. The land south of the security gate could also possibly hold a show building but that would mean it would be separate from the Justice League show buildings. Ah, yeah, I forgot. I'm so used to calling it Nara Resort. You all know what I mean though anyway. -

Well, to me, it looks like the entrance/exit is being formed there on the lower western side. Just a thought - has anyone considered the 2nd storey being accessible to guests? It's unlikely though as access to upper floors in these shop buildings is very rare in GC theme parks. -
Might have been a misinterpretation. Anyway, I was mainly just pointing out that The Taipan was the last rather than the 1st stage of a master plan. I'm pretty sure though Jamberoo did submit their whole Kangaroo Island masterplan as one application (otherwise why would they need to modify it for The Perfect Storm?). Kangaroo Island also went to the Southern Joint Regional Planning Panel twice - it wasn't just any ordinary development application. And without a doubt, plans did change over the entire 5 year approval process. When you mean 'run time', do you mean the time length it is allowed to be assessed before having to reapply or the time length after approval that they have to build it in before having to reapply?

I'm assuming this hasn't been posted on Parkz but to add to the information about car park operating hours/purpose in my previous post, I believe I can confirm that the new car park is, in fact, a MW overflow car park as I found this quote in the plans:- 499 replies

When did they announce that? Was there a press release/(social) media statement for it? It's for VRTP, like you said, without a doubt though - I've checked the plans out. I think it's either to: Provide more parking spaces for the expansions or, Rearrange the current car parks to fit expansions in. The hotel will definitely have it's own car park (probably basement/undercover parking so guests get 'exclusive' parking) as the car park plans state: So that car park is only for the purpose of MW (as all expansions apart from the rollercoaster have night time operations). I'll gather it is a new MW overflow car park. At least this all explains why Gold Coast Bulletin reported that the hotel would be built on a MW car park.- 499 replies

Don't forget Paradise Country And don't forget Sea World Nara Resort. In addition to a pass that allows access to everything on the Entertainment Road property, it could include 1 night's stay at Nara Resort (combined with SW entry) followed by 3/4 nights at Entertainment Road so you can stay & enjoy everything. Assuming VRTP is the only thing you do on a GC holiday, think of it like this in itinerary format: Day 1 afternoon: Arrival at GC, check in at Nara Resort Day 2 morning/afternoon: Check out of Nara Resort & visit Sea World Day 2 evening: Travel to Entertainment Road (whether private/public transport or via a VRTP special bus) & check into Entertainment Road hotel Day 3/4/5 - Do everything at Entertainment Road Day 6: Check out of Entertainment Road hotel & leave GC. -

I don't think it is the overflow car park as it is 5 acres short of the stated site it is supposed to be on (15 acres). If it is to be there, they would need to remove some of the existing main car park first. Also it is reported that the hotel would be placed on a MW car park. I also don't think it will dominantly be placed on MW's main car park as it would block MW's iconic entrance as well as be an eyesore. I haven't heard anything about that new car park (tell me more?) but I don't think that land is owned by VRTP? Regarding TopGolf construction timing, I stand corrected. They must have delayed it as I was basing it off the June press release that said: The ASX announcement is definitely more accurate and up to date. I've been reading them and I don't know how I missed that. The 'Go Carts' thing is very confusing. Being between existing shows means it has a maximum duration of 2 hours and 3 things come to mind: An opportunity for visitors to race go karts around the arena. A mini-stunt show involving go karts. A mini-stunt show or audience participation involving the golf cart(s) used in the old Police Academy Stunt Show. I know it does - the TopGolf press release said it is located on a 15 acre site. Our speculated location + the rollercoaster construction site = 15 acres. And the 2 TopGolf sites I looked at on Google Maps are just less than 15 acres in size. The only way that I can think TopGolf can overlap the rollercoaster site is if the TopGolf building is built just south of the rollercoaster with the entrance path involving walking under the rollercoaster and the golf balls being hit in the direction of the AOS car park. The only concern is if the high netting affects the outdoor filming tank. The TopGolf construction timeline you posted is now making me doubt whether the speculated location is correct though. Guess we'll have to wait & see. I don't know anything about this permanent fence either?- 499 replies

I'm very confident they didn't. I read the Illawarra Mercury very often (and sometimes I'm more up to date than them) & the only place I remember seeing those plans was from you on Parkz. The Illawarra Mercury did have articles written about them though at the time. The Taipan was also the last stage of their original 5 stage plan (which begun with Surf Hill in 2001) so The Taipan was a DA on it's own that was approved in 2007. Shortly after, Kangaroo Island was submitted to Council & took until 2011 to get approved - the 1st stage (being Funnel Web & Banjo's Billabong) opening in 2012. A Kangaroo Island DA modification was made in 2015 to accommodate The Perfect Storm. I agree with this though.

I speculated construction on TopGolf would begin in September so I have a feeling the rollercoaster construction site is being shared with TopGolf's construction site (particularly given groundwork coincidentally begun at roughly the same time). Once certain things are done on the rollercoaster construction, I think they will start preparing TopGolf around it and also move/extend the construction fencing when required/TopGolf becomes the focus of construction. Also, I thought I'd post this image that I posted in a different topic of TopGolf Alexandria overlayed onto the speculated site (according to scale) here too. It roughly matches all current measurements we know of the site:- 499 replies

The exact words were "one of the world’s best theme park drawcards". If it's anything like SE, I guessed the first official teasers would appear around early March 2017 but then again, SE was in a world relatively without social media. The biggest question is how big their social media marketing campaign will be and when will that start? And how viral will they try to make it? A huge viral marketing campaign would without a doubt send Parkz into extreme overdrive and capture the attention of not just only Australian rollercoaster enthusiasts but probably the world's particularly with a "world's best" rollercoaster heading to our shores. -

Just found an old SE construction topic so I thought I'd make my guess construction timetable more accurate. Again, this is all assuming a Boxing Day 2017 opening & I have also removed percentages as the timetables are more complex now: Mid November 2015 - Rollercoaster development application approved by Council/New 'world class' MW attraction confirmed to shareholders Early July 2016 to early March 2017 - Site preparation/footing placement Mid August 2016 - Original (but now delayed) announcement date Early September 2016 - Mack Rides confirmed as manufacturer due to their crates seen on site Mid November 2016 - Currently most likely time period for the rollercoaster announcement Early December 2016 to Early February 2017 - Track parts arrival Early March to late July 2017 - Track installation Early March 2017 - Construction fencing marketing added Mid May 2017 - Outdoor media marketing campaign begins Early June 2017 - Trains arrive/Media call Late July 2017 to 26 December 2017 - Theming/landscaping Early/Mid September 2017 - Train 'pull-throughs' Early October 2017 - Main marketing campaign begins/Testing begins Early/Mid December 2017 - MW website update Mid December 2017 - Preview rides/Media launch 26 December 2017 - Opening For information purposes, here is an updated version of how SE was constructed. I've edited the initial SE announcement milestone as I now feel that was more of a highly verifiable leak to the media at the time rather than an official announcement: Mid July 2004 - New MW ride rumour begun Late November/Early/Mid December 2004 - 'Superman themed' rollercoaster rumour gains momentum 30 January 2005 to late March 2005 (approx.) - Movie Magic Special Effects Show Closure/Demolition Early April 2005 (approx.) to late July 2005 - Site preparation/footings placed Mid June 2005 to Mid July 2005 - Track parts arrival Early August 2005 - Construction fencing marketing added: 1st official confirmation of SE Early August 2005 to early October 2005 - Track installation Early September 2005 - Outdoor media marketing campaign begins Mid September 2005 - Trains arrived/VRTP Expansions media call Early October 2005 to 26 December 2005 - Theming/Landscaping Early November 2005 - Train 'pull-throughs' Mid November 2005 - Main marketing campaign begins/Testing begins 15 to 22 December 2005 - MW website update 22 December 2005 - Media launch 22 to 26 December 2005 - Exclusive preview rides 26 December 2005 - Opening Note: Most exterior theming was only visible/made public for SE in between mid December 2005 & opening day so for the new rollercoaster, expect that to be visible/made public between early December 2017 & opening day. Note: Unlike in the SE timetable, ride/attraction closure/demolition isn't included in the 2017 rollercoaster timetable as no rides/attractions were closed to make way for this new rollercoaster -
That's great news! Better than waiting a whole year. I'm really hoping it has white strobe lights in the large Tornado at a minimum but the fact that theming is still being determined gives me the thought that it will be pretty good quality theming. Regarding "Christmas holidays", I think they meant 1st December - as they are open every day in December & closing The Perfect Storm to visitors during most of a peak period of summer wouldn't look good with such a limited season length, high visitor expectations and large crowds. I know late September/early October are a major period for Jamberoo but new rides should be opened when they are completed. Loads of recent visitors might be annoyed to find an 'improved' version of The Perfect Storm opening in December. This is a completely different scenario to not having the Funnel Web spider sculpture ready for Funnel Web's opening as special effects/theming & enclosing of Tornadoes directly adds to the overall ride experience (particularly with a ride that looks very similar to Funnel Web).

More photos - If nothing has happened, why post more? It's like tuning into a TV drama 'series' only to find it's an old episode put on repeat. More information - We have to rely on VRTP for that and currently, it is a waiting period of just over a month before any kind of new information. Keeping the discussion going? - Simply speculate about what you think is going to happen. Just don't post or ask for updates that consist of information we already know or photos of things that haven't changed. Like I said before, it is probable that until early March next year at the latest, we will only see footings being placed - not track parts, not theming, not landscaping - just footings. Apart from trying to guess where the track is going to go, footings placement is boring. When track installation begins (like I said, probably March at the latest), daily photos will be a guarantee as that happens pretty quickly - it will be over before you know it as it is the most exciting time of the construction period (apart from any announcements). Footings placement, however, photos are only needed occasionally when heaps of new footings are placed over a period of time. We don't need a photo dedicated to every single new footing - they nearly all look the same. You all should consider yourselves extremely lucky how frequent the updates are on Parkz now. Back in 2005, when SE was being constructed, we had to wait months before another SE construction update and like they should, they only occurred when things changed. Just take a look at the dates of SE's construction photos in SE's photo gallery and you'll see how long we had to wait back then as forum photo updates weren't common at all back then. That's why I posted my guess construction timetable for you all - so you will know approximately when something significant will happen. I think everyone here would agree that this talk of more updates/photos is getting extremely tiring & we still got just over 14 months maximum to go of construction. If there is some simple advice for you, it is be patient - photos will be posted when something new happens - and if you want to 'keep the discussion going', then speculate - just don't ask for new photos/information constantly (after a 2 week+ gap may be fine) or post news/photos that reveal nothing new.
