  1. I don't think what you have shown is right because I don't think its a complete drawing.
  2. Richard that is the best detective work I have ever seen on this site. I totally agree on what you are thinking. Dreamworld purchase a second hand ride and for some major reason it had to be removed. A local company was engaged to replace it. This puts lots of thoughts in my head about how Dreamworld was operated when it first opened. I have always had the idea that if one of our parks built a ride to the scale of what we see overseas and charged us for it, I would be willing to pay a small price to ride. When Dreamworld first opened due to very few people travelling overseas. Dreamworld only had to compete with the local competition. Now that more people travel overseas we are wanting more. I have family that live in the USA so every two years I travel over for a visit. I do not visit any Australian parks in that year because I am saving my money for what I will see and do. My first coaster at Dreamworld was an upcharge and I paid for that. I would be happy to be charged if I knew that when it was paid off they would remove the charge.
  3. Sorry can't re-edit it. To clarify the tilt it was not like the whole thing went over it just felt like the cart had just lost contact with the rail on the inside. It gave a feeling of being on a knife edge.
  4. Yes Richard from what I remember (being around 10 or 11 at the time) it did tilt to make you feel like you are falling off the cliff and there was no safety harness to keep you in the cart. The seat inside was like the log ride and the person in front squished the person behind. Going to Dreamworld back in the day was a massive family event that we would save up for to go once a year “No cheap passes back in the days”. So between sometime in the first year of opening I think it was changed because I only remember riding it like this the first time I went to Dreamworld but I would like to know how long it lasted for. I also remember paying to ride the thunderbolt when it first opened.
  5. This is a pointless discussion because you can't show me that asbestos was ever used in the mountain? If dreamworld felt they needed to close it due to asbestos then what has changed since it has closed that now makes asbestos safe? Dreamworld have never released that information so where Did you get that information from? Around the same time of the mountain going up asbestos was being stopped.
  6. The photo you posted does not look like when it first opened. Have a look at the clip and you will see what the carts looked like and the track. Does anybody know how long it was opened for before the carts where changed?
  7. I think you need to do some more research about it. If you check out any government site about it you will see it talks also about deteriorating building products. With my work I have had seminars by qbcc about hazardous materials on the work site. Yes if you crush it or cut it it will spread. If it falls apart by itself the same thing would happen.
  8. I don't buy that it is riddled with asbestos. Avalanche mountain was removed with no problems. Not saying saying they where made from the same stuff. If it is full of asbestos then dreamworld would have sealed it in a way to stop it falling apart to protect its staff and guest. Your telling me it's full of asbestos that is falling apart and dreamworld are allowing staff to work under it.
  9. I agree with the person on the facebook page about it would be better to pull it down and replace it. It was a boring ride for me. 2 drops and a few small zig zags and that’s it over and out.
  10. Does anyone remember when it first opened it was 2 riders per cart. I thought I was thinking of something else until I found this old commercial today. I stand to be corrected but I also believe the track layout was different when it first opened. From my memory where you can see it falling apart was in fact a patch to cover a tunnel that was filled in when the track was changed. I would go to say when they changed the carts and layout I think by the photos shown they replaced the whole track.
  11. The mine ride did not close because it did not meet the current fire standards. If that was the case then they would have to close every building in Australia as the fire code changes every year.
  12. Jet Rescue Closed for scheduled maintenance from Mon 2nd Feb and will re-open Mon 16th Mar 2015. Does anyone else think this is a long maintenance period?
  13. Last time I was in LA the motel I was staying in told me that 80% of guest are from Australia. My thoughts are Disney are just marketing. The exchange rate has been so good it has been made it a great time to go to the usa.
  14. The cleared area you are talking about was approved as an overflow car park that was never finished after WWW stage 3 was caned.
  15. Already looking for people for next year. Do You Want To Be A Big Brother Housemate? Register NOW!
  16. Dreamworld is due for a decent ride. I can't remember the last time I got excited about anything dw has built. No more pussyfooting around dw.
  17. Gold Coast news reporting hotels are selling out for the weekend.
  18. Alexb This year they did not punch a hole in my ticket. It was scanned every day I went in. I believe the numbers work the other way because with every adult ticket you could take a kid under 15 in for free. The kid did not have a ticket so only the adult ticket was scanned. The figures from the amount of paying people would be a lot lower then entry numbers. I have been 7 times and have never paid once. Last year I ended up with 16 free 3 days passes that I gave away. This year I only ended up with 2 three day passes. They get the money back anyway for us non-paying people. $9.50 = 1 can of Jim Beam or $6.00 = 1 can of coke.
  19. Interesting. From ninemsn. Police have confirmed Adelene did meet the minimum height requirement for the ride of 120cm.
  20. MickeyD my recollection of the train accident was: A train maintenance worker was reversing a train back into the shed when the trains collided. If I remember correctly it was not a train engine that was being used by the engineer on track but a maintenance buggy that could move the carriages around. From what I also remember from back in those days was the work on the trains was not completed by Dreamworld but by volunteers from a QLD train club.
  21. Richard, can you issue me with a warning point? I want to know what people are talking about.
