  1. Red Heal to Wet and Wild seems a long way to travel for work. Would you move closer if you got a job? Good luck with the interview.
  2. What does this have to do with what I am talking about? I think you need to reread it.
  3. Don't know where you got your information from but that is not how the building industry works. A builder cannot clam for rain delays and then charge for the days they are claming for.
  4. Gazza can you please tell me what a big piece of plywood in an oval shape would be used for.
  5. How much do these pictures look the same. SEAWORLD KOREA The question I have is what procedure is in place for Seaworld when something like this happens to a ride within their park? Does Seaworld notify the manufacture straight away? Does the manufacture notify other parks with a simular ride about the problem? Does the park that is notified shut down their ride until the problem is rectified? Clearly if all the above things had happened then it would not of clamed 5 lives in Korea. At what point are parks putting a profit before the guest safety.
  6. Maintenance worker causes ride to malfunction at seaworld Carriages, with doors open, crash into each other Incident happened before opening hours Close call ... this photo, sent to NEWS.com.au, shows The Eye's carriage doors open at the Gold Coast's Sea World theme park.
  7. This style of roller coaster has recently been built using a friction wheel launch system by another company. You can also see in the photo the same gauge track is used.
  8. PREMIER Peter Beattie has told opponents of the proposed super yacht marina at The Spit on the Gold Coast that the project will go ahead. ``Thinking people will support this ... it's a done deal,'' he said. ``We want The Spit to be world class and it will be. This will be a successful, balanced development and we'll get a lot of (private) interest. ``We set the rules and the rules are the ones I have spelled out.'' The proposal is for more than 10ha of prime Crown land at The Spit south of Seaworld to be offered to private developers. The land will be used for the construction of super yacht facilities, marinas, berths for the fishing fleet, shops, restaurants, hotels and units. I was just thinking when this development goes ahead what will be the height limit on the new restaurants, hotels and units. Since it looks like the state government is overriding the local government on want can be built on the spit it might work to Seaworlds favour in the future.
  9. I think Dreamworld is becoming a patchwork quilt. Dreamworld needs to decide where it is going in design and the overall outcome they wish to achieve and go for it.
  10. Does anybody think that dreamworld new rollercoaster’s track gauge is about the same as this motocoaster? Zamperla Rides also make a motocoaster and its top speed is 65km. There is one on youtube if you want a look.
  11. You could be right Nev. I big chief at Dreamworld also and ash.1111 has applied Dorothy the Dinosaur’s lip-gloss before every show, for the past few years.
  12. What a load of crap. You make no more sense then dreamworldrideop does. You are telling us what here? 1. Dreamworld new that it was getting a Gyro Swing and no amount of testing, changes or alterations would change the fact that dreamworld was getting a Gyro Swing. 2. What is dreamworld saying about their manufactures if they buy a Gyro Swing but think they will end up with a Pirate Ship? 3. Just because more bracing has to be added or a less corrosive finish might have to be used during construction does not change the fact that it’s a Gyro Swing. 4. What are you saying about your design team (they can’t get it right). I put it to you that it is dreamworlds marketing ploy not to releases the ride information till it is ready to open the ride. You would be better of to reinforce dreamworlds policies with its workers at work and not in our forums.
  13. I have seen a heap of photos of the construction of the Tower Of Terror. The crane used to build the TOT was the first of its type in Australia. The manufacture of the crane has added a portfolio of the crane and the construction of the TOT on there web site. One problem is I don’t remember the site address for it, so you will have to do a search.
  14. This is old news. The first reports that came out with this that it was a 16 year old before we where told it was a 13 year old girl. Your uncle must still have snail mail. "Jun 24 2007, 09:20 AM Post #1 Just wondering if DW has gone and closed GD as a precautionary measure as Six Flags and Cedar Fair have done as a result of the accident at Kentucky Kingdom two days ago? "
  15. I have seen that ride down the local park already Richard. It has two bikes and holds 4 people. It's a bastard to peddle thou and a bit hard on the rear end.
  16. Gazza he did tell us when he was working on T.O.T. So it would not be very hard to work out who he was. I think this is a person trying to talk up there position within a company. We already know that the ride is not going to be the next superman. I have never seen a person join this site and add so many posts so quick. I think he just wants us to know what he does for a job. Dreamworld Ride Op we welcome you.
  17. Does not seem like there is much track left after just after the final turns and brake section is completed. Could it be there are more tracks on its way that might have more structural elements to it? LOL bank last corner after it has slowed down you guys crack me up.
  18. The track looks a lot like there indoor roller coaster track. But Intamin say options such as catapult launch systems, loops, barrel turns and many more can be used for this track. We wil have to wait and see. I'm betting this is going to be a big let down. Another idea I just had. I think poles are different then the norm because on the height the track is from the ground. By reducing the height of the track and increasing the number of poles it would reduce shear in the track. If the shear of the track has been reduced from the use of these poles then it would make sense for the track size to be reduced and still able to go quick enough. And Richard that track is orange no matter how you look at it. LOL
  19. I can’t see how can you say with the information available that it could be a design fault being that each system is a different concept. Do you know why only the American parks closed these rides when they are built all over the world? Why did some parks close rides that use cables that are not drops at all? The two systems are not fundamentally identical, they may get the same outcome but by manipulating the cable in different ways. The Giant Drop winches and the SFKK use a pulley and weight system. These two rides where made years apart and maybe the design has changed between this time. Dreamworld would know a lot of this information and would make an educated decision and it would not be made on a gut feeling. On Sunrise today the CEO did say that they are total different systems. The manufacture of the ride said they have not supplied any parts to SFKK for seven years and the cable had to be changed every couple of years.
  20. I don't think Dreamworld kept the ride open on a gut feeling. I don’t know who told you that Dreamworld made the decision to keep the ride operating without any information available from the situation in Kentucky. Dreamworld is in the best position in knowing if the ride is safe or not and dreamworlds engineers would have had talks with Intamin and any supplies of the parts. The Forces and wear and tear would be different due to the fact that there would be more side contact on the cable from one system to the other. I do not think dreamworld should bow to the media because we know how many times they get it right or stretch the truth to get there ratings up. I don’t think that people will not go to dreamworld because the ride is still open. I too understand what you are saying Richard but I don't think the media is a good source of information.
  21. The manufacturer of the Superman Tower of Power says it did not supply the cable that sliced off a girl's feet at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom on Thursday. The ride's cables and wire ropes would have had the need for replacement at least several times since the ride opened in 1995, but those replacement parts did not come from Intamin. The company says it has not supplied parts for the ride for 13 years. Inspectors from the Kentucky Department of Agriculture's Office of Consumer and Environmental Protection believe that the cable is to blame for the accident, but they are still trying to determine why the cable snapped and how it got caught around the girl's legs. The girl remains hospitalized, but there is no word on her condition So why is the media asking for the ride to be shut down. Facts – 1. Giant Drop & Superman Tower of Power has different cable systems that pull them to the top. 2. At no times do people come to close proximity to the cable on the giant drop. 3. The cable runs behind the gondolas of the Superman Tower Of Power. 4. The cables are supplied from different supplies. I understand why all the six flags parks would stop all there drops as they would get there cables from the same supplier. This is just a typical media beat up when they had no other stories to run. I did not even see it on the news till I saw the question get asked on this web site. (Richard)"But particular models of planes have in the past been grounded as a result of crashes. I'd say without much doubt that this is a freak accident, but I find it a bit of a stretch to call such a valid and justified precautionary measure 'neuroticism'. I can't see how it would make sense to keep them open until they can rule out with 100% certainty that it's not a design flaw." It can be ruled out 100% that it is not a design flaw by there being two lift systems and two totaly different designs.
  22. Enterprise catches fire; 37 suffer burns (Friday, May 18, 2007) - In Rakvere, Estonia, an Enterprise amusement ride somehow caught fire, leaving 37 people with burn and smoke inhalation injuries. The victims, six of whom suffered serious injuries, were rushed to local hospitals where they were treated and released within 24 hours. The carnival is operated by Tivoli Tuur. The ride consists of twenty 2-passenger gondolas which are suspended from the outside of a wheel that is raised to a vertical position while spinning at high speed. The fire broke out while the ride was operating at full speed. Why did this not make the news? Why did dreamworld not stop running there one?
  23. I think this is just another media beat up. The Superman Tower of Power if different to the giant drop and I think this is why dreamworld is not concerned with it. Intamin AG also has said in their press release that not all parts are made from them so just like an Australian car company it would not be hard to believe that the giants drops cables might have been brought local and not from the same supplier. On the Superman Tower Of Power you can see how a cable from one side could hit a person nearby if a cable broke. If you think about where the cables are on the giant drop then what do you think would happen if one broke?
  24. I went past, on the way to work today and seen cranes lifting the track into place, if someone could get there and take some photos today it would be great.
