Are you sure that’s the right post? It doesn’t actually say the work is being done to improve structural integrity.

I think the existing lifeline will be removed once the new system is completed, as the workers are still using it while the installation work is being carried out. If the new system ends up being the same as Rivals, then MW are probably standardising the lifeline setup across the park. It keeps maintenance systems consistent and makes training, inspections, spare parts, and safety procedures easier.

It’d be great if they expanded it into something more like the world showcase passport at EPCOT. My youngling absolutely couldn’t get enough of it. She loved collecting the stickers and reading the little messages the characters wrote for her. She even brought her passport along on our Disney Cruise Line cruise, and the characters kept adding messages and little notes in it.

JR was never listed on the upcoming maintenance schedule, but DW’s ride maintenance page is pretty hopeless when it comes to future updates, so it’s hard to tell what’s actually happening.

As far as I can tell, MW has removed every trace of the precinct from their website and the name of the precinct has been removed from the map. MW has quietly erased DC Super-Villains Unleashed so thoroughly, I’m expecting historians in 50 years to argue whether it ever existed at all.

You could be correct @TV15 If this were a major structural reinforcement upgrade, you’d usually expect: welded connections, bolted flange plates, gusset plates, cross bracing, or direct integration into the existing steel design. The clamps suggest: secondary structures, cosmetic additions, shading, screens, lighting, themed, or netting. Whatever they’re for, let’s hope they paint them, because that looks ugly as hell at the moment.

Very hard to tell from the photos if they are strengthening the supports or adding a roof to the lift hill?

@wikiverse I’ve never seen a protest where anyone actually knows what they’re going on about. Since everyone seems to get a kick out of the parks taking shots at each other, I’ll just drop this here. 🫠

@TV15 Honestly, it’s that easy I’m not even bothering, feels like cheating at this point. I was at WnW to they closed and went over to MW for a sneaky ride on Superman and I didn't see the protest. Grim Reaper tapped out before anyone else did.

I’m not sure if Themeparks-au is onto something, but I wouldn’t read too much into the name being the final name. It’s pretty common for a project to have a working title that’s different from the actual ride name. “Mars” could easily be referencing the vehicle, while “Discovery” might just be pointing to the overall theme.

Themeparks-au reckon it says Mars Discovery and, if this is true, Intamin have a spinning coaster called Objectif Mars. Interesting at the very least.

@Smol bean Even if a ride is never running again, engineers still have to, isolate hydraulic / pneumatic systems, remove stored pressure, drain fluids & eliminate any chance of accidental movement. My guess is they’re de-energising the system and bringing it into a safe state. Why they’re doing it at this exact time, I’m not sure.
