The Vekoma trains are nearly 10 years old now, and the ride has been in operation for nearly 25 years now. Arkham was 25 years old and had new trains (Well half new trains, and not very good ones...) and was removed so I wouldn't say it's 100% safe from removal. I do think Motocoaster would get removed before Gold Coaster however, purely based on location as it's in a prime spot and Gold Coaster would be a pain in the ass to remove due to it's proximity to White Water World and many back of house areas. I still firmly think it only has 10 or so years left in operation as the Arrow and even Vekoma loopers of this generation are slowly closing down.

This will not be happening, no need to fix something that isn't broken. Apart from the minor hiccup the ride had earlier in the year with it's launch system (and TBH it was actually fixed pretty quickly all things considered) the ride has been pretty reliable for the most part. I'd say Superman would have another 10 or so years left in her before we'd be looking at a replacement or major change to the ride system. It's clear that Village have no plans to remove it given they are about to invest in a new station design etc for the ride. I especially would hope that they wouldn't go with Zamperla given all the issues that Top Thrill 2 has had since it "Opened" If anything is going to ever be done to the launch, they would be stupid to go with anyone other than Intamin anyway. As far as new rides go, I don't want to see Movie World get a new roller coaster for a while now. The ride lineup is very coaster heavy and I think they have all demographics covered (Kid's coaster: Road Runner. Family: Scooby, Kansas Twister, Wicked Witch. Thrill: Flash, Superman, Rivals and GL) The park really needs 2 or 3 new flat rides to boost overall capacity, and not dud's like Doomsday. I personally would have loved to have a star flyer kind of attraction for the park, but with Trident now I don't think that's the best idea. Once they get a few decent capacity flat rides, I'd love to see them focus on the WBK area of the park and replace the nearly 30 year old Zamperla rides (Sam Train and Tweety) and give that whole part of the kids area a overhaul. That's what I'd be spending the next 5 or so years on for MW (Oh and please, a decent quality show to replace the train wreck that is HSD 2). Once that's done, maybe a replacement for Justice League depending on how they keep up with the ride maintenance etc. For Dreamworld, I think the next area they will focus on is the Motocoaster after Rivertown opens. The ride stands out like a sore thumb as it is, and once Rivertown opens it will be even more of an eyesore. I'd say this ride has maybe 5 years left before it's replaced. The only other ride I can MAYBE see that closes before it would be Gold Coaster, but given it's a pretty simple design without any major issues it might last a while longer. I think for 2025 though we will see more of the park cleaned up, which I think is really needed and the park is certainly on the right track for it. I'd like to see for 2026 an expansion to White Water World (Can we finally get the Lazy River?!) and maybe a flat ride for Dreamworld and then in 2027 I'd say we would be due for another major thrill coaster or hopefully a water ride of some description. I think for WnW we will see a replacement hopefully for the Aqua Loop but I don't predict anything major as their line up is already pretty full. Sea World I'd like to see another Flat Ride for the park (one that is reliable) but probably not as thrilling as Vortex. A family thrill on the scale of a Zamperla Nebulaz or similar. I don't see them getting another coaster for the next several years.

Honestly it's more than just the occasional browse. Upper management do read these forums very often, and 100% have made changed based directly on what has been posted. Senior management have even had accounts on here in the past and have made posts and comments relating to feedback. Even back when I worked for Movie World, management knew I was on here and sometimes even asked if there was any feedback that had been posted that was relevant that they could possibly look into. It may not always be the case, but never doubt who's reading these posts (or who is at least reporting back to management).

Dreamworld has had 2 Indiana Jones Knock off's already (Tomb Raider walk throughs) based on this logic, may as well make it 3 for 3 lol.

This is pretty standard for most rides, even travelling rides. Need to make sure the ride is balanced etc.

Dreamworld did have custom uniforms for Nick Central when it was around, and Gold Rush Country (Eureka and Thunder River, Log Ride and sometimes Giant Drop) had a different uniform as well similar to Wild West Falls but in blue. I think Motocoaster also had a seperate polo shirt for at least the first few years as well. It certainly was a thing in the mid 2000's. Each department also had different standard uniforms too. Operations had the blue with yellow trim, cleaners had green or red shirts and food and beverage was blue and black. One of the great things about Dreamworld was not having to wash your own uniforms either. You would go to work in whatever clothes you wanted, and pick up freshly laundered uniforms each day. Not sure if that's still the case or not (Movie World was the same, except you had to wear the "day uniform" to work and keep it on you in case you had to move to a ride that didn't have a set theme) Hopefully with the majority of the decent management that was at Movie World in the mid 2000's now at Dreamworld, we might see something special for Rivertown (and future attractions) to really bring back that kind of sparkle.

As far as I am aware, there has never been scales at Sky Voyager. Dreamworld has never really seemed to enforce the weight restrictions on any of the rides really.

So, it appears that Aussie World has put in a development application with the Sunshine Coast City council for a major expansion to the precinct including a large waterpark. The Sunshine Coast could soon be home to a new waterpark, with Aussie World submitting a proposal to build a $60 million facility at the Palmview attraction. The concept design features 16 waterslides for all ages, leisure pools, action pools and numerous waterplay areas. The new area would also include several food and beverage outlets, a pool bar, sun lounges, cabanas and a souvenir shop. In a media release, Aussie World said a development application was submitted to Sunshine Coast Council this week to build the waterpark on privately owned land to the north of the existing theme park. If approved, it would become the Coast’s largest waterpark, rivalling other similar attractions in South-East Queensland, and contribute significantly to the local economy, drawing an estimated 780,000 annual visitors by 2031. “We are continuing to find new attractions that will create an iconic, must-visit experience at the Aussie World Entertainment Complex, which will be sought after by tourists,” Aussie World general manager Jenny Howell said. Artist Impression of the area “As the largest sustainable and accessible waterpark on the Sunshine Coast, and with its close proximity to Aussie World, this project will be hugely popular and something that locals can be proud of. “There will be a two-day pass offer to significantly increase the appeal of the Sunshine Coast to overnight visitors and it will contribute a significant injection to the region’s overnight visitor spend. “The waterpark will continue to strengthen the Sunshine Coast’s reputation as the tourism capital of Queensland for families and young adults, adding to the already exceptional line-up of tourist attractions across the region.” The project would inject up to $39 million into the local economy through building works and the supply of building materials and services to support the three-year construction period. It is estimated the waterpark could generate $15.2 million to $30 million towards the local tourism economy. The concept design submitted to the council also includes a proposal to expand the existing car park to ensure free-flow traffic. It will create employment for 193 full-time staff during the peak season and 87 full-time staff during non-peak periods. I can also confirm this, knowing the people working on this project. It's not quite ready just yet, but they are now working on this a bit more actively now that Taipan is up and running. I know that the Rainbow has been one of their passion projects for a while now, and I can't wait till it's finally up and running.

Movie World Scheduled Maintenance 2024
Spotty replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
100% not happening. No room for it, and for the most part Superman is actually very reliable (especially for an Accelerator). This is actually the first major issue the ride has had since opening, given it's nearly 20 years old... that's a pretty damn good track record. If it aint broke, don't fix it. (But this time, please fix it Intamin!) -

Makes sense given that SX-360 was a Technical Park attraction. Probably brought at the same time as a bundle. Looks to be a pretty good fit for the park IMO, and similar to Tailspin but also different at the same time. Curious as to how it will be themed too.

Because it's what is in the training manual, as well as the procedures that staff are trained in. Staff follow procedures that are set out by management. These procedures are created with consultation with several bodies (manufacturer, insurance companies, external auditors etc). Each country has different requirements as multiple other people have stated now. It's not something that is going to change any time soon either. Although, I personally love the idea that they changed the procedure purely to piss you off tbh.

Yet we coped with revolving platforms for 15 years on Bermuda... and a rolling platform on Wild West Falls for 20 years so that argument is totally invalid. The RFID is a way to physically confirm that the staff have checked it and to keep a record which is most likely an insurance thing as we all know insurance has gone crazy since TRRR.

Movie World Scheduled Maintenance 2024
Spotty replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Wrong. 100% wrong. At the most they would only ever want to have 2 majors at a time closed unless something ever went wrong. The general schedule was: Lethal Weapon / Arkham (After Aust day till early March) > Superman / Batwing (Early march till Easter holidays) > Scooby and RoadRunner after easter holidays > Wild West Falls from June till around August in prep for holidays. Then it would be Tunes / Batride between September and November. After November they would try to have all rides open and getting ready for the xmas holidays. Obviously with more rides sometimes a weekend (or maybe a single week with 3 rides closed) did happen but it was really avoided as much as possible. Only in the last 4-5 years have we really seen this many closures happening on a regular and it's 100% not acceptable. I really think at this stage, the park would be better running weekends and holidays only until they can catch up on things as it's absolutely pathetic the way the place is being ran. -
Well, if you went on the timeline that I proposed... that's close to 10 years since SV opened. Which is when most rides have a major overhaul anyway. Could potentially do a retheme at the same time as the new facade and re-launch it I guess.
-
It wouldn't surprise me given current management if it's on the very large "to do" list for the park. It might not be the highest priority right now, but I'd say it will be on the list. I think for the list of priorities it would be for me (obviously after Rivertown is open) 1) Add a new attraction to where the trolls / AVPX arena is (1-3 years) 2) Re-theme or replace Motocoaster (3-5 years) 3) Replace the sky voyager facades (5 years) I think those first 2 are much more important IMO. Once those 3 major things are done, I'd say it would be time for a new major thrill coaster to probably take the place of Gold Coaster as I reckon it's probably got maybe 10 years left in it's life. As much as I'd love to see the facades updated, I don't think it's the highest priority right now.

Brb changing inspection time to every 60 minutes...

They might be able to re-jig Batwing's maintenance a little bit potentially, maybe have it close early feb (Just after Aust Day) and re-open early march and then have Superman / Flash close. That would make the most sense.

To be completely honest... the CONCEPT behind Doomsday was a good idea, a decently themed flat ride. If the ride actually worked properly, and wasn't a total potato it would have for the most part been alright. It was just a shame that the ride was so unreliable and was down so often because from what I gather that's the biggest complaint with the ride (apart from the B mode it's now running in). I really don't think they would have chosen the model if they knew it was going to be so unreliable. Honestly if it had been me though, I would have moved SurfRider to Movie World at that point in time and put it where doomsday was and chosen something different for Flash but that's a whole different story. Scooby is much the same, the idea was good (refurbishing and bringing it up to new standards) but the execution kinda failed. Although from what I heard, what Movie World got vs what they paid for was not quite right. I will give them props for bringing back the theming standard for the ghost train to the original for the most part (we do not talk about the screens though...) and getting the light show running properly. So IMO it wasn't a complete failure, just some things didn't go quite right.
