Based on the 2013 schedule this is a rough outline of what to expect from Movie World. This was similar to the 2012 schedule too, obviously it might change for this year but I'd say that's what to expect... Generally Green Lantern has 2x smaller periods of maintenance instead of one long one, with Wild West Falls being the longest period. ---Xmas Holidays End--- Superman: Escape (1st week of feb - 3rd week of feb) Green Lantern: (4th Week Feb - 1st week March) Batwing SpaceShot: (2nd and 3rd week of March) ---Easter Holidays--- Arkham Asylum: (Mid april - Early May) RoadRunner Rollercoaster (Late May - Early June) Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster: (Majority of June) ---June Holidays--- Wild West Falls (Early July - Mid / Late August) Justice League: (Early - Mid September) ---Fright Nights / Schoolies--- Green Lantern: (Early / Mid November) Hope this helps a little bit

Generally the questions they are likely to ask would be ones like "How would you handle a difficult guest" and things like that. It all depends on the exact role you are going for. For a role that is less "entry level" the questions would be more about the roles than your standard customer service roles.

Dreamworld are pretty iffy on rehiring staff that have previously worked there, I don't quite know why but they just are. Village Roadshow are the same too generally. I worked at Dreamworld in 2008 as a seasonal and was offered ongoing work but had to turn it down due to wanting to focus on my year 12. I recently went for an interview with them and never even got a response back despite leaving on good terms. I do agree with a lot of the things other people are saying, and especially with roles in the theme parks they mostly go for your character and personality. If your bubbly, enthusiastic and approachable generally you stand a good chance. It's not always about experience with jobs (but it can help) it's just about weather your likeable I guess.

Doomsday - Potential New Tower Ride at Movie World
Spotty replied to Gary86's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Based on the concept art and description i'm guessing it's likely to be an Intamin "Spinning Orbit" ride. I rode the one in Malaysia and honestly I found it to be an incredibly lacklustre ride. Movie World really does need a few more flat rides, but I really don't think that this is the ride that Movie World needs. Here is a video for anyone curious about the ride: -
Outdoor attractions must be off by 9pm (rides etc.)
-
10:30pm would be when the lines shut most likely to have all attractions off at 11pm.

I did a few nights of Fright Nights in the Walking Dead maze for Fright Nights last year. Was certainly an interesting experience to say the least. Very fun though!

Interesting to see that Space Roller will not be at Melbourne Show this year (making the trek to Perth instead) I do look forward to seeing some pics of Perth show. And Crazy Coaster had it's cars repainted in 2012 before the rest of the ride was painted orange, which was done just before it's stint at Luna Park Melbourne.

Is it just me, or does the first drop on this Aqualoop look much smaller than the one at Wet n Wild GC?

The "breakdown" for scooby at 4pm was so that tech services could go over the ride again. They do the same for White Christmas as the ride is one of the most technical rides in the park (and also most prone to have technical difficulties). It was also for the maze so that people could prepare and get ready etc. From my understanding it was also so that they could start to clear that area out for the events (as most people in the afternoon hang around scooby) so it's pretty much closed off for that as well.

The all day lockers can be opened and closed as many times as you like. The ones at Superman and GL can be opened within the first 15 minutes (might be 20) but after that you need to hire a new one.

That's always been the parks policy, if your in a line by closing time (5pm or sometimes 5:30pm in xmas holidays) you will get on the ride still unless something unforeseen happens like the ride breaking down. It's also why say with Fright Nights the ride might "close" at 9pm but they will close the lines at say 8:30 to ensure everyone is off before the noise restrictions kick in. As far as Arkham goes, glad to see you enjoyed it. The new trains have really made such a big difference on what was arguably one of the worst coasters on the coast. I still wish they had found a way to relieve the pain on your legs from the harness pushing down.

For Green Lantern the storage boxes are for smaller items. (Wallets, Keys, Hats, Sunglasses etc.) Bags are not meant to be left on the load platform unless they can fit in the box (Small satchel bags for example can fold up and fit in the boxes)

Awww... the Sky High Skyway looks so tiny and cute now

CISAC in Canberra has a Waterslide too, Built by Australian Waterslides and Leisure http://cisac.com.au/default.cfm?pageid=clubblue

AMEN TO THAT! One of the few rides that I don't miss... Speedy's got a lot better as they changed some little things. TAZ cars... *shudders* almost as bad as parking Sam Train haha.

Buzzsaw has the first row of the 2nd carriage closed off when it's running with 1 operator so that they can cross platform sides while checking the restraints etc as it's the only safe place to do so. Park operational procedures would be in place for that, same as with Superman: Escape as the operators can only ever cross over an empty row with harnesses unlocked (to prevent a dispatch) and can't cross the very front row (in case of a fall)

Superman Escape was also in it very briefly in the clip too

Yes, he is one of the old CEO's from Wonderland Sydney from 1995 - 1998 when it was sold to Sunway Group and then he was the Managing Director for Sydney Harbour Bridgeclimb. So he had nothing to do with anything that Sunway did to the park up to and including it's closure. In fact i'm also fairly sure that he was responsible for Space Probe 7 being built, which at the time was groundbreaking (Tallest freefall tower in the world when it opened, and in fact I think it was actually the first Intamin drop tower built, the only other one was Superman: Tower of Power that was also built in 1995. This would also explain all the motor issues SP7 had due to being a "prototype") So it could be interesting to see what he does in the long term. Yes in the short term it looks like a lot of cost cutting is going on, but in that time alot of repairs and cleaning up is also being done. So it could just be short term to get the park up to scratch again and then working on some capital to hopefully pull the park back up. Only time will truly tell though.

If anything, I'd like to at least see the ride neatly landscaped with some grass underneath it and some nice plants. I don't like the way that SPEED: No Limits was done (The first of 2 pictures Gazza posted) but with all the cranes it's safe to say it was still under construction. It's very easy to build a very nice looking ride that doesn't require huge amounts of theming. I mean really, look at Escape From Madagascar at Dreamworld. That ride doesn't have much theming really but they have at least made the area around the ride look nice and even under the track with the grass.
-
The ride was still largely intact around 2011, I'm going to assume that a lot of the demolition inside there was fairly recent. Obviously things like the boats and some theming was removed pretty quickly (Tree etc) but really... until they knew what they were going to do with the building / when it was needed what was the point in spending the money in removing it?

Looney Tunes river ride has indeed closed down, and is to be replaced with a new kids ride in September. You should be safe with STORM being open in Feb as it will have only been open 6 months so it would be more likely to be down later in the year. You will probably either have Jet Rescue or Sea Viper closed at that time though if anything is.

Considering they are cutting down on staff, trading hours and all sorts of things as of late... it wouldn't surprise me to be frank. When you think about it all the attractions they have built would have been quite cheap. A Zamperla Air Race would be 2mill at the most, most of the Dreamworks precinct would have been pretty cheap due to the fact it was mostly just a repaint with a few minor additions. I'd put a price tag of maybe 5mill for the whole area including Pandamonium. Shockwave would have been around the 2mill mark as well. Compared to the money that Village is investing on their rides it is entirely possible. I am also going out on a whim and saying that the new AVPX replacement would be around the 1 mill mark, and with WhiteWater World not having any work done for ages... it appears to be the path they are heading down.

The LTRR building has been used for storage for several years now (at least since 2011) in particular the storage bay. The building looks strange being gutted like that though!

No need for a travel agent at all, if you do want any help / information about gold coast hotel's i'd be more than happy to assist. Just on the JetStar price match, it's *FAIRLY* safe to say it will still be around but obviously can change. But you just need to make sure if your going to price match that it's within 1 hour either side of the cheaper flight otherwise it's not eligible for the price match. If your looking for a nice hotel that's not too expensive and close to everything i'd personally recommend either QT Gold Coast or The Outrigger. Make sure if you do end up staying at QT that you sign up for the free Rydges Priority Guest rewards program, it gets you lots of perks (Late Checkout), 20% off food and beverage etc.
