  1. That is 100% queue jumping. You’re making the line longer than it is for people behind you and breaking park rules at the same time. I stand by my comment, and I would have happily yeeted your whole group to the back of the line.
  2. So effectively queue jumping then? Yeah no, if I was working there still and I saw you guys do that you would have all been booted out of the line and told to go to the back. Not fair on the other people who are waiting in line and doing the right thing.
  3. That made me cringe more than it should have... also, APRIL next year?! Talk about missing the mark, I'd have wanted to get it up and running ASAP especially given the movie release.
  4. I did actually notice from Costco today that both sides were running and they almost looked like they were in sync. Are both sides controlled by the 1 op now and dispatched at the same time or can they be dispatched solo like they used to be?
  5. I'd be curious to know your source on this... because as far as I am aware the Suspended Twin Hammer was an Intamin design from the get go.
  6. I loved it when it was in front of the Thunderbolt, complete with the carnie fencing haha. And the operators constantly telling you to "lift up your feet" as you came in for landing. Honestly... that ride and the Stingray when it was next to the Wipeout really holds a special place in my heart for memories of Dreamworld. Although, I'd say it still honestly has some life in it, it's a very simple ride design and there's still another version of it travelling in Australia fairly sure.
  7. One of my favourite past times when I worked at MW... trolling the people that ran all those FB pages and then watching it show up on forums like Parks or even Facebook a few days later as "Reliable sources" when it was some of the most outlandish BS myself and the rest of the staff could think of lol.
  8. I miss the Superman uniforms, they were honestly very comfortable. Never knew Scooby to have its own uniform though. It was always the "Day uniform". Every ride had its own uniform back then, except for Scooby and WBK / Dodgems. If you had to be moved to a ride that had a costume, and you were in another uniform or the day uniform you could only work in positions back of house (such as high zone or lift on Scooby) or to be an observer for a guest with disabilities. Otherwise you had to go to wardrobe and get a change of shirt. The Wild West Falls uniform shirts were so nice and cool, perfect for the summer months. The Batwing one was by far the worst though, all black in summer... NOPE. Real shame they are getting rid of them though
  9. Scenic Railway will only ever run 1 train, it hasn't ran with more than one in many many years due to the fact that it's all manually operated. Most rides do need to be weight balanced though, so that's also not out of the ordinary.
  10. Can confirm this... worked better than anything else on Scooby haha
  11. One now... the one in Malaysia closed down and this is a 2nd gen version of it as well. So really it's the only one. "Intamin's Tourbillon problems are well known. " - Sorry wouldn't let me quote in an edit. Those rides were actually built by ABC Fun Rides but sold by Intamin. Similar to how in Europe, Vekoma sells RMC products but they are still built by RMC
  12. Thank you for turning this thread around. Now... shall we place bets on if Doomsday will spend more of the year open or closed?
  13. I can tell you right now all of those numbers for 1 train operation are far higher than what they would achieve. Superman would average 12 dispatches a hour (6 every 30 mins) which if all seats were filled would be 240 riders a hour Rivals would probably be pretty similar too. Road Runner would have done a dispatch with the old trains approx every 3 mins. So around 320 a hour with 1 train. This is from personal experience as an operator as a FYI. However with procedures that have changed it is possible that it's even less now... doubt it's got faster since I was there lol. Back then operations were actually halfway decent (for village), and staff actually gave a crap. Quite a few of them were actually on these forums back in the heyday and we may or may not have used to have friendly competitions I'd say if this ride doesn't have seatbelts and is just a standard restraint you'd be looking at dispatches similar to Road Runner and be getting mid to high 300's per hour due to the longer train. You could maybe push 400 a hour if you had 2 loaders + the controller running things. Just really depends how they chose to operate it, so many things when I was there just... made me question "why" haha. Simple things like opening the damn gates as people are getting off the train to make things quicker. One day things may change haha
  14. Well yes, if I still don’t buy the wristband I would send them back to GS. Then the supervisor would normally call the entry host to advise on the outcome (approved or declined to ride). Generally guests were pretty good and understanding that it was for safety…buuuuut sometimes, well yeah lol
  15. Maybe as your walking up the stairs in a similar fashion to Leviathan... they could have the scenes playing on the screens with the winkies chasing Dorothy etc around the castle... Then maybe as the train is loading play the scene where they are about to melt the witch... and as the train departs have the water "splash" on the witch... causing her to melt?
  16. Guest Services actually trumps the ride operators... In the past if we were unsure on if someone was tall enough or if they were borderline we would send them to GS and get them to measure. They would then be given a height wristband that said what they were measured at and we were told to go off that for the day. Same with injuries, we would always send them to GS. They have a green one which means that they can go on all rides without an issue or an orange one which is to alert the operators that an observer may be required. At rides with an entry host, the entry host will speak with the guest just to make sure that they understand evacuation procedures etc. They then call the supervisor to let them know, and it may be they are asked to come back in say 15 mins once an observer is able to be located and expressed onto the ride. Generally if it's a minor splint though, most rides should be okay but yeah speak to GS and they will assist
  17. Thing is, they could have done so much more with it. It would have looked better if they flipped it so it spelt "Gold Coast" as you drove down the M1 towards the Gold Coast. I would have also had color changing lights like what the Story Bridge in Brisbane (and many others) have so that for special events it could be color co-ordinated. Example, St Patricks Day it could be lit up green. For Pride month it could have been rainbow coloured, world AIDS day red etc. It wasn't a terrible idea really, it just wasn't executed very well.
  18. That and Superman's launch system honestly hasn't really provided any major headaches for the park in the nearly 20 years that it's operated. Of course it's had some minor issues (but all rides do), but it seems the smaller Intamin Hydraulic Launches (the ones that go less than 120kph) seem to be pretty reliable. Xcelerator and TTD really were the 2 prototypes for the technology, so those 2 being more problematic (especially TTD given the speed and height) is to be expected. I honestly don't see MW changing Superman to LSM's because it would be a very expensive overhaul, and it honestly runs perfectly fine with the current system.
  19. Generally by the look of them, the Zierer ones tend to have a bit more of a traditional look to them compared to the P&B ones. Having ridden both, I find the Zierer ones to be a little bit smoother in operation. However out of all the companies that build them, I'd say those 2 are the best. The biggest difference is the base of the ride, the Zierer ones tend to be more of an octagon shape and the others tend to be longer. I will admit though, Volare at Luna Park is a very very good looking unit and certainly has a lot of that classic charm either way so I'm hoping that Dreamworld's version is of similar quality so I'm happy either way. Zierer Model Preston and Barberi one
  20. For force, I'd say Hair Raiser... for the Oh S**T factor... Giant Drop. However my all time fave drop tower was Space Probe 7. The theming etc just really made it something special. IMO it was one of Australia's best themed rides, right up there with Bermuda Triangle and Wild West Falls (pre 2004 fire).
  21. The Multi Coloured supports have been a thing since it was repainted from Reptar so hardly new...
  22. I'm 100% down for the fire sensing eyes, just make sure that the batteries that move the cars backwards are charged. Hell they can use the batteries in Speedy's Taxis.... they sure won't ever die mid way through the day!
