  1. I'd personally love a Vekoma Roller Skater for Sea World over a Zamperla offering. Road Runner is a very good roller coaster for kids / families and a custom layout would be perfect for Sea World.
  2. Won't be happening any time soon or ever again most likely. The old car weighed a truckload more than the new one and would have required more power to launch such a heavy car. It would also be unfeasible / impossible for them to have a way of running alternating cycles with the car. The only way you will ever be riding ToT forwards again is if they reverse the new car or install back to back seating. But it won't happen.
  3. I thought I recognised that music from somewhere!! I kept thinking it all night long when I was there last week.
  4. Even funnier if it happens to be a West breakdown. Happened to me when I was at Superman and got swapped to West. Had to sit in Lift because guests couldn't see me clearly, and then change into my "Park Uniform" on my first break. Ah, fun times.
  5. Movie World ride operators only wear the "Park Uniform" for Scooby Doo, Shows staff, WBK / RoadRunner and breaks. If your working on Superman, Arkham, GL (if / when it re-opens), West, JL, Batwing you have to wear a designated uniform. Even if your only going there for 30 minutes your meant to wear a costume. The only exception was if you were going to Scooby Doo lift or high zone or Wild West Falls lift room where guests wouldn't see you break the theme. I still remember that one time when Scooby Doo evacuated whilst I was in High Zone wearing an Arkham jumpsuit... the guests were a bit confused haha. Even some of the food and beverage staff wear special uniforms depending on the outlet they work in.
  6. Went to Aussie World this weekend, and I will say although it's not as big as Infinity the Illusionarium is a great addition to the park and was very popular (20 minute wait, although due to the low capacity too) The staff at the park were once again awesome, and because I arrived at 3pm when the park closed at 5 the staff at the front gate only charged me and my friend for 1 admission as it was so late in the day. Didn't even ask they just did it. Every single ride had a dedicated staff member, the park was immaculately clean and every single staff member seemed genuinely happy to be there. Aussie World really has grown in the past few years, and I hope that the park continues to see as much success as it;s been having in the coming years.
  7. Back when I was there if the flaps were not working the ride wouldn't operate... shortly after I was trained on it that procedure went out the window
  8. If i'm not mistaken, the reason is that Superman always has to be seen "flying" and obviously a roaming character can't do that. It is why Superman has the flaps between the load / unload station as it's meant to prevent guests from seeing him motionless. At least that's what I was told when I was trained on the ride in 2012.
  9. Can't even see Lethal Weapon in the background so i'd say between 1991 and 1995 that pic was taken.
  10. Space Probe 7: The Ride would be by far my favourite drop ride that I've been on, closely followed by the Giant Drop. Purely for the theming and the overall experience is why I rate SP7 higher. I would love a ride like that back in AU with a decent storyline. If Movie World didn't already have BatWing it could have been a great idea for a drop ride to be themed to a generic alien movie.
  11. WipeOut's maintenance has been pushed back to April now. 20/4/15 - 10/5/15 BuzzSaw is now closed until the 22nd of March and Tailspin is down till the 28th of Feb.
  12. Water wasn't working yesterday either... Scooby had lasers going (the new coloured ones look great!) and was full of fog but pretty much none of the animatronics in the dark ride were working (axes, scooby near the lift... the werewolf that jumps out too...) It was really quite a shame. Wild West Falls was running great too with the mist even working at the reverse element too! First time in nearly 3 years i've seen it work.
  13. The park's new opening hours appear to be 9am according to the Dreamworld website. With rides opening at 9:30am outside of holidays / weekends and 9am on weekends. Great to see even just an extra hour of trading
  14. The Royal Canberra Show is on the 27th feb - 1st of March. It has had the Crazy Spinning Coaster appear in previous years but wouldn't be 100% if it's attending this year. http://www.canberrashow.org.au
  15. In regards to Arkham Asylum, it's common for a ride that has just come out of a rehab (especially one as long as Arkham Asylum's) to be temperamental for a few days to a few weeks as the ride hasn't been cycled constantly for a little while. Give it a week or 2 and it should be running back to normal. It's nothing out of the ordinary...
  16. Other medical items such as Asthma puffers etc are allowed through the queue line as well. Strangely enough Jellybeans are permitted too (Diabetics) but that only happened to me once as an entry host. Up until early 2012 glasses actually had to be left in a locker, but for various reasons that procedure was changed to being allowed to wear them until your seated on the train.
  17. I can tell you right now it's not a permanent addition to Luna Park Melbourne, it will be there for the christmas holidays (potentially through until around easter at the latest) before travelling again before the Sydney Easter Show. I know the owners of the attraction and there is no way in hell they would spend over 1 million dollars on a brand new ride only to sell it to a theme park less than a year later.
  18. I rode it about 3 weeks ago, all the effects were working... smoke was filling up the warehouse and the new lasers were in full swing. IMO they still don't beat the original green lasers but they are the best they have been apart from those.
  19. They did a minor refresh of Gold Rush Country when BuzzSaw opened in 2011 so I don't see them doing too much work to it just yet unless they finally do something with Eureka. Honestly i'd love to see Rivertown (or whats left of it) get refurbished. Motocoaster could stay there quite easily with a few minor changes to the theming. An example would be if the licensing or sponsorship with Mick Doohan ran out and they didn't want to renew it they could always retheme it to an old time motorcycle race. The ride would just need a repaint and some details added to the trains. They could get rid of the huge obtrusive facades or even retheme them and it could even blend in sort of with the gold rush / rocky hollow theme. It would be a rather inexpensive retheme and would make the whole area much nicer. There is physically nothing wrong with the motocoaster, it's just been poorly executed and marketed the wrong way. Heck, you could even go back to Dreamworld's roots and theme it to something like "Kenny and Belinda's mad race" and the theming could pay homage to the original vintage cars that were on the site.
  20. Batwing closes in high winds (but when I say High Wind...it's got to be pretty damn high to shut batwing down) Superman does actually have a wind detector and prior to each launch the system weighs the train and takes into account the wind speed the best it can to optimise the launch however in very strong winds the ride will cease operations. I know that the Giant Drop at Dreamworld is capable of operating in winds up to 120kph and dreamworld even had it on their website at one point a few years ago but weather or not they still do operate in winds that strong is a different story. Basically when they say "High Wind can effect operation" it pretty much means it has to be a pretty big ass storm to shut it down. In the end the final call comes to the park supervisor to cease operations of certain attractions until the adverse weather conditions stop. Also what Nitromefan said about Batwing's cable is essentially correct and the cable is unable to be protected from the elements like the Intamin Giant Drops using the procedures stated. This is also why at night time the Giant Drop's catch cars are kept at the top of the tower.
  21. A camera in your hand is NOT permitted on Scooby Doo under any circumstances along with any loose items (lanyards etc) around your neck. Go Pro's will not be permitted on any of the attractions either. By taking video footage on any of the attractions you do risk being ejected from the park (a warning the first time) but if you are caught a second time on the day they are more likely to eject you from the park and may even terminate your VIP pass if you have one. IMO the rules are a little bit strict, but they are there for a reason in the end. So just enjoy the ride without having to worry about being kicked out and just have fun!
  22. Superman: Ask the entry host and inform them you want to do a parent swap. Wait at the shop whilst the other parent queues up and tell the loader / grouper that your doing a parent swap. Once you get off the ride also let the unloader know and they will send you through the staff door to the load platform. Arkham Asylum: Line up as normal and let the attendant know your doing a parent swap. One parent rides while the other waits on the load platform with the child, then swap over and both exit once both parents have rode. Scooby Doo: Tell the entry host that your doing a parent swap, one lines up whilst the other parent goes to the exit and waits. Once they have finished the first ride, they swap over and enter through a side door between the load / unload platform. Green Lantern / Wild West Falls / Batwing - SpaceShot: Same setup as Arkham Asylum basically
  23. The last time Lethal Weapon ran with 2 trains was 2009 xmas holidays, in 2010 and 2011 they did not run the 2nd train ever. Early 2011 the red train was cannibalised for parts and converted into the "purple" train in preparation for the Arkham Asylum refurbishment as the current ride uses the old chassis from the previous trains. They even removed the training procedures for 2 train operation around 2010 as well, because when I was trained on it my operations manual had a foot-note where the 2 train procedures were that stated they were no longer in use and we were never trained on it. They did have both trains until early 2011 but both were never on the main circuit at the same time.
  24. FreakOut is owned by B+B Amusements and "FEAR" (The Tower Coaster) is still in the country and O'neils still own it but not sure if it's still travelling or in the "boneyard" like their HUSS Rainbow.
