Movie World Scheduled Maintenance 2024
Spotty replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
If a seatbelt is undone at any point during the dark ride section of Superman, the ride will automatically e-stop. The seatbelts have sensors to tell if they are buckled or not, if not buckled the ride will not dispatch. Also if the unloader accidentally leaves a seatbelt buckled when coming into the load station, that seat can not be used for the next cycle as the system will basically have a panic attack and not allow it to be unlocked until it comes back to unload. (That part of the system honestly is so stupid but it is what it is). -
You would be best to contact the parks directly as this is a fan site. They should be able to assist you

Movie World Scheduled Maintenance 2024
Spotty replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Tunes ride was not planned to close the way that it did. It was planned for an eventual replacement yes, but the timeframe of it was pushed forward due to unexpected issues. This then led to Bermuda being inspected thoroughly during its maintenance period before closure and it had similar issues and that's why it closed. They did explore options of doing a full refurb / rebuild of Bermuda but it was deemed to be too expensive with little to gain so it was decided to shutter it and put Storm in its place. Storm was actually purchased a few years prior to the install and was originally planned to go at the front of the park where Penguin Encounter currently is. -
https://melbourneamusementhire.com.au/services/rides/ - Appears to be owned by Melbourne Amusement Hire - They also go by Hi Lite Amusements. The same company that owns the Hangover (recently renamed High Voltage), Fury and a few others.

How dare you use logic?! I'd say it's nothing to do with a delay directly related to Rivertown. Honestly it makes more sense to keep the whole area closed off until it's ready. A November opening date for Motocoaster seems about the right amount of time to do a retheme of a building. Hopefully after King Claw is done, a retheme of Motorcoaster is next. Based on the whole 20 year cycle that most of the parks are seeming to go with it would be the next major ride to get an overhaul given it opened in 2007. Once it hits 20 years it makes sense to either do a full overhaul (like Scooby / West / Giant Drop / Claw to King Claw) or look at replacing the ride. I'd honestly like to see the Motocoaster removed instead of rethemed and having more money spent on a coaster with a very lacklustre layout. The land is prime real estate and could be used as an expansion to the Rivertown area. Dreamworld would really have a great lineup once Rivertown opens, King Claw and then an expansion / new attractions on that area. I'd say we will have a soft opening the week before xmas with a traditional Boxing Day opening at this stage.

The main reason for it would be accessibility. The old building backed onto the stunt show stage so there was no direct ambulance access in the event one was needed. The current location backing onto the service road means that an ambulance can be hidden from view if needed and can get a patient out of the park in a much quicker manner.

At least Zamperla makes reliable rides for the most part (Lets not talk about Top Thrill 2...) and likely would have been a much better attraction than the hunk of scrap metal we got.
-
The Star Flyer that Sea World originally had was not built by Funtime either, but a Czech Republic company called Funlight, either way it was a much more reliable ride than the SBF junk they ended up with. Honestly, the only decent star flyer's around are the ones built by Funtime, Zamperla, ARM and Funlight (in that order). Really think they are wishing they spent that bit extra and went with a reliable model now...

One of my fave past times of being a MW ride op back in the days was telling the people who ran this page (and many of the other non reputable ones) total BS... and then watching them report it as fact by "someone in the know" In fact, a lot of the operators and even supervisors did it and probably still do to this day. Did you know in 2012 that Dreamworld was planning on building Thunderbolt 2.0? And that they were putting the wheel of the Reef Diver onto the arm of the claw to create a brand new thrill ride?

The ride was originally produced for German showmen Münch & Eckl in 2002, originally titled Adrenalin Pur. It travelled on the German fair circuit for one year before being sold to Austrian theme park Prater in 2003, where it was modified to have a more normal second arm instead of a three-pronged one. It was dismantled and put into storage in October of that same year. Prater sold the ride to Austrian amusements company Printschler in July 2004, who then sold it to Australian amusements company Phil Durkin Special Events in 2007. When in Australia, the ride was repainted, slightly refurbished and renamed to Insanity. The ride travelled for two years before seemingly disappearing at the end of 2009. Phil Durkin Special Events would later sell the ride to another Australian amusements company, Hi-Lite Amusements, in 2013. During this time, the ride was repainted again and renamed to Fury. Hi-Lite Amusements continues to travel with the ride to this day. Adrenaline with it's original 3 arm design Adrenaline after being modified to only have 2 arms Insanity in 2007

Who would have thought that you could provide content! Such a novel concept. I love people that just expect the world from people. Truly the end of an era though, the last of the original attractions (or close to original) is finally gone
-
I doubt a cableway will be built again, as due to the strong winds that Sea World gets the one they had was often closed.
-
Without breaching confidentiality by going into too much detail of the process behind this decision. I can tell you this for certain, at the time that Bikash made the comment about the monorail staying they did plan to keep the attraction. They did several studies and mechanical / engineering investigations and from what I heard the actual structure was too far gone to be economically viable. They 100% did look into replacement rolling stock as well for the monorail to be compatible with the current beams. But given the results of the investigations it was much too costly for the time being hence the announcement of it's closure. I can assure you that this kind of decision would not have been taken lightly, and it was always the original intention to get the Monorail operating after Atlantis opened. Hopefully we will see something similar in the future, who knows.
-
At least with Scooby, we know for a fact that parts have arrived for the coaster. If anything it might be delayed to 2026 but yeah. I get what you are saying. However the lack of parts comment they made I feel is a bit incorrect. Von Roll was sold to Adtranz (now bombardier) and was fairly sure they still made parts for the rides, much like how S+S brought the rights to Arrow Dynamics designs to be able to still support them. Either way, we all knew the Monorail wasn't coming back much before village "knew". Lets just hope they don't leave parts of it to rot any further, and hopefully they have something else in the pipeline to replace it.

Honestly, I'd love to see an observation wheel at Sea World again. The Sea World eye really was the perfect fit for the park and the R60 model (same as the Brisbane wheel) looked very nice and I feel it was the perfect size. I think a wheel the size of the Southern Star would look really out of place on the Sea World skyline, and I'd personally hope for something smaller. I think the 60 - 80m height would be ideal. I think Sea World needs 3 new attractions to round out the lineup, an observation ride (Ferris Wheel), a Transport Ride and another decent flat ride. I don't think they need another water ride, and I think for Roller Coasters they are pretty good for now. Maybe in the future a coaster with inversions would be good (in say 5 or so years though)

I honestly would hate to see that space used for anything but a WhiteWater World expansion. There are other areas that Dreamworld can expand if they really want to but there is no where else for the water park. The ride actually does pull some pretty decent forces as well (in particular the helix and the final vertical loop). Even if it's a simple ride mechanically the ride still only has a limited lifetime. Look at other Arrow / Vekoma loopers from the 80's / 90's that have had track replacements done to it. I do hope when that time comes though, that they maybe look at something else for that area but who knows. I don't think we would see a new "Thunderbolt" though. As much as I love the nostalgia they are doing, I don't think they need to re-imagine every last thing that Dreamworld has done.

I 100% agree, sadly I don't think anything will be done with this area until they decide to redevelop that area. I really do think they need to either reopen the gate when WhiteWater World is open, or even reopen the shop in the old Thunderbolt station in the summer months and use that as the gate. I'd love to see another flat ride in the location of the flow rider / trolls area to open that part of the park again and hopefully draw some more crowds down to the Gold Coaster area. Once this is done, you could easily open up the shop again with the new (well old as it was used in the past) gate to WhiteWater World in the summer months. This would honestly go perfect if WhiteWater World expands onto the old Thunderbolt site as originally planned. For when it comes time to removing Gold Coaster though, it's not just the waterpark that is in the way but a large amount of Back of House areas are directly underneath which would make it slightly more challenging too. But I really hope this section of the park is the next area to be looked at either before or after something is done with Motocoaster. I have 100% faith that the current management will do something, it's not a matter of if but a matter of when.

The Vekoma trains are nearly 10 years old now, and the ride has been in operation for nearly 25 years now. Arkham was 25 years old and had new trains (Well half new trains, and not very good ones...) and was removed so I wouldn't say it's 100% safe from removal. I do think Motocoaster would get removed before Gold Coaster however, purely based on location as it's in a prime spot and Gold Coaster would be a pain in the ass to remove due to it's proximity to White Water World and many back of house areas. I still firmly think it only has 10 or so years left in operation as the Arrow and even Vekoma loopers of this generation are slowly closing down.

This will not be happening, no need to fix something that isn't broken. Apart from the minor hiccup the ride had earlier in the year with it's launch system (and TBH it was actually fixed pretty quickly all things considered) the ride has been pretty reliable for the most part. I'd say Superman would have another 10 or so years left in her before we'd be looking at a replacement or major change to the ride system. It's clear that Village have no plans to remove it given they are about to invest in a new station design etc for the ride. I especially would hope that they wouldn't go with Zamperla given all the issues that Top Thrill 2 has had since it "Opened" If anything is going to ever be done to the launch, they would be stupid to go with anyone other than Intamin anyway. As far as new rides go, I don't want to see Movie World get a new roller coaster for a while now. The ride lineup is very coaster heavy and I think they have all demographics covered (Kid's coaster: Road Runner. Family: Scooby, Kansas Twister, Wicked Witch. Thrill: Flash, Superman, Rivals and GL) The park really needs 2 or 3 new flat rides to boost overall capacity, and not dud's like Doomsday. I personally would have loved to have a star flyer kind of attraction for the park, but with Trident now I don't think that's the best idea. Once they get a few decent capacity flat rides, I'd love to see them focus on the WBK area of the park and replace the nearly 30 year old Zamperla rides (Sam Train and Tweety) and give that whole part of the kids area a overhaul. That's what I'd be spending the next 5 or so years on for MW (Oh and please, a decent quality show to replace the train wreck that is HSD 2). Once that's done, maybe a replacement for Justice League depending on how they keep up with the ride maintenance etc. For Dreamworld, I think the next area they will focus on is the Motocoaster after Rivertown opens. The ride stands out like a sore thumb as it is, and once Rivertown opens it will be even more of an eyesore. I'd say this ride has maybe 5 years left before it's replaced. The only other ride I can MAYBE see that closes before it would be Gold Coaster, but given it's a pretty simple design without any major issues it might last a while longer. I think for 2025 though we will see more of the park cleaned up, which I think is really needed and the park is certainly on the right track for it. I'd like to see for 2026 an expansion to White Water World (Can we finally get the Lazy River?!) and maybe a flat ride for Dreamworld and then in 2027 I'd say we would be due for another major thrill coaster or hopefully a water ride of some description. I think for WnW we will see a replacement hopefully for the Aqua Loop but I don't predict anything major as their line up is already pretty full. Sea World I'd like to see another Flat Ride for the park (one that is reliable) but probably not as thrilling as Vortex. A family thrill on the scale of a Zamperla Nebulaz or similar. I don't see them getting another coaster for the next several years.

Honestly it's more than just the occasional browse. Upper management do read these forums very often, and 100% have made changed based directly on what has been posted. Senior management have even had accounts on here in the past and have made posts and comments relating to feedback. Even back when I worked for Movie World, management knew I was on here and sometimes even asked if there was any feedback that had been posted that was relevant that they could possibly look into. It may not always be the case, but never doubt who's reading these posts (or who is at least reporting back to management).

Dreamworld has had 2 Indiana Jones Knock off's already (Tomb Raider walk throughs) based on this logic, may as well make it 3 for 3 lol.

This is pretty standard for most rides, even travelling rides. Need to make sure the ride is balanced etc.

Dreamworld did have custom uniforms for Nick Central when it was around, and Gold Rush Country (Eureka and Thunder River, Log Ride and sometimes Giant Drop) had a different uniform as well similar to Wild West Falls but in blue. I think Motocoaster also had a seperate polo shirt for at least the first few years as well. It certainly was a thing in the mid 2000's. Each department also had different standard uniforms too. Operations had the blue with yellow trim, cleaners had green or red shirts and food and beverage was blue and black. One of the great things about Dreamworld was not having to wash your own uniforms either. You would go to work in whatever clothes you wanted, and pick up freshly laundered uniforms each day. Not sure if that's still the case or not (Movie World was the same, except you had to wear the "day uniform" to work and keep it on you in case you had to move to a ride that didn't have a set theme) Hopefully with the majority of the decent management that was at Movie World in the mid 2000's now at Dreamworld, we might see something special for Rivertown (and future attractions) to really bring back that kind of sparkle.

As far as I am aware, there has never been scales at Sky Voyager. Dreamworld has never really seemed to enforce the weight restrictions on any of the rides really.
