  1. Agreed! The 2nd half of the cycle, when the gondola spins freely, is wild. The onset of the forces are abrupt and intense. IMO it's running better, and more extreme, than when it was on the carnival circuit.
  2. Better. However, the main complaint revolves around buying express passes and then not being able to use them, because of ride closures. Not exactly complaining that queues were long.
  3. I was not discussing if either park is 'popular' / 'highly attended', or if either park is 'doing well'. That is not what I intended to discuss with my posts - sorry if I have caused confusion. @jozI intended to point out that your initial statement was untrue - and I am glad you refined your statement in a follow-up post. Now I understand where you are coming from. Perhaps Dreamworld's positive reviews relating to queue wait times is because they are not as well attended, compared to Movieworld. It could also be because they have more rides and attractions? It could also be because they operate their rides more efficiently? Perhaps a mix of everything? Let's all be mindful that, as @Slickhas stated in the past, correlation doesn't equal causation. I don't think the review that you have screenshot relates to queue wait times? Joz made a statement claiming that "Thrill ride waits have been long, but you know what, welcome to peak season at every park everywhere." I then showed evidence to disprove this statement. I can't see how the review you showed in your post relates? The review talks about closed rides and unstated show times. Not long queues.
  4. Not sure if recent Google reviews for Dreamworld are a valid argument against this statement? 🤷‍♂️ But I can't seem to find complaints pertaining to queue times in the last few days (except 1 about express queue, which I pasted below). Instead we have people leaving reviews praising queue times (some examples below):
  5. If this topic is indeed about the 'validity of google reviews', a good place to start would be to discuss what is actually being said/complained about in those reviews. Reading Movieworld's Google reviews (from the last week or so) one of the top three complaints that keep showing up is: wait times are too long per ride. There doesn't seem to be people complaining about the qty of attractions they did in their day. And then the question is, are the comments being made about the wait times in those reviews valid? e.g. are the wait times per ride indeed too long?
  6. But there is a choice if you are from interstate (which makes up a large portion of themepark ticket sales on the coast). Would you agree with the following? A family in Melbourne consults current/recent Google/Trip Advisor reviews for the Gold Coast themeparks - from these reviews they decide not to go on a themepark holiday to the GC. But instead stay in Melbourne and do the themeparks and waterparks locally.
  7. Very exciting to see what comes of this long refurb. As other have already said, having this coaster down for a full year is going to hurt the park's capacity and increase wait times. Making it even more imperative to move Surfrider over to MW, and get the new Marvin the Martian kiddie flat up and running. Anything at this point will help. Maybe more street entertainment and shows as well.
  8. Exactly! And further to that do not 'like' react a post, or comment. The more people disengage = metrics will show poor engagement. Leading to less of this type of content being published.
  9. This was one of the highlights of Movieworld's Star Tour back in the day. Getting to do the first ride of the day on Superman, whilst the rest the general public are held up at the ride's entrance (and the queue sprawling down to the fountain). One of the many experiences/attractions I would love VRTP bring back.
  10. Can you show some examples to prove half of everything DW say "is total BS marketing spin"? And maybe define what you deem as 'BS marketing spin', because others may have a different perception of what 'BS marketing spin' is.
  11. You're better off staying in/near the Melbourne CBD if you were coming down to do all 4 major themeparks/waterparks.
  12. To be fair, the coasters on offer at those 2 parks are all clones. But yeah they are unique parks that are worth a visit.
  13. You are right. I did a quick scale photoshop of a Sky Rocket II. It fits! Not sure if LPM has height restrictions. If not, it would be a great investment for the park. It'll also be Australia's tallest launch coaster if built. Thank me later LPM haha.
  14. Anybody know if they are any closer to 2 train operations on Leviathan? Or do you think this will be something sorted out post peak school holiday period?
  15. This "new" ride cycle, is a safety feature working as designed. The ride has been programmed to run the original 1 loop cycle that was on Buzzsaw. But after the relocation and refurb of the trains, the ride seems to be running faster than usual; and thus it's entering the vertical brake run too fast for the brakes/computer to successfully catch it on the first go. So the brakes don't engage, giving the extra swing back and forth (killing speed) so it can successfully 'catch' the train at a slower speed. I've gotten this cycle multiple times now, and I think it really adds to the overall ride experience. A lot of fun!
  16. Yep! From what we saw, it looks like there will be 3 main queues: Standby (main queue), Fast pass, and single rider. There is also a dedicated switch back in the station for the front row, if you wish to wait longer.
  17. Media Preview Day - 19/12/22 Was very lucky to attend a media preview and TV commercial filming day of both coasters yesterday. A big thankyou to the Gumbuya World team for giving Parkz an early access look at both coasters! It is greatly appreciated. Got to ride TNT, but Project Zero was still undergoing testing and commissioning. My initial thoughts on TNT: Pacing and 'flow' of elements are fantastic. The beginning is surprisingly intense (for a family coaster), and ends with a tamer section that is twisty and just plain fun. This is definitely a back row ride for the extra thrills. The coaster is smoooth....even more than I was expecting. No vibrations, no jolting, no headbanging. Vekoma's next gen bucket seats and minimal lap bar harnesses are very comfortable. Theming and area presentation is looking great, but was still being worked on - especially the internal queue space. So I'll wait for opening day to give more thoughts on that. We got to see Project Zero test, and go inside the queue building. The station and queue space has got a premium office/facility feel - and really sets up the whole space test area theme. There is a viewing window from the queue that allows you to appreciate the speed and intensity of this coaster even before the air gate platform. Really interested to see how the old buzzsaw tracks since the rebuild, repaint and refurb. Overall it was 'sounding' a lot more smoother, quieter and less 'clunky' - especially the lift chain and vertical brakes. You can tell the whole team at Gumbuya World are very excited, and proud, about the 2 new attractions. And so they should be. Can't wait for the opening on the 23rd!
  18. Visited last weekend to get a glimpse of testing of TNT. I am honestly surprised at how quiet the coaster is - there is no rattling or banging/shuddering noises. You essentially just hear the air rush past the train. More theming and landscaping has been done on both coasters. Rockwork is being done on the entry and exit of the first underground tunnel on TNT. 'Distress' painting of the factory/shed station has been added, and the interior of the station is also getting some love now. Project Zero has an entry sign, and exterior space testing facility theming has begun to show up. The whole area of the park is now starting to look 'finished' and lived in, rather than a construction site. Just over 1 more week before opening day!
  19. An update from park's fb page shows that the drop into the funnel has been installed. And crews are working on the flying saucer element on the ground. Not long to go now. My bet is we see an opening during the week prior to Christmas Day.
  20. Thankyou Stevie for having the balls to say what a lot of members on this site are thinking, but are too scared to write. There is no need for you to say sorry, you have done nothing wrong. Yes, your comment may be considered to some as a little "nit picky", but it is ok to post those opinions on these boards - after all that's what this forum is for. I believe most members on this site are mature enough to understand that your comment as a whole was positive. And that you are someone who appreciates detailed theming and consistency in storyline. I think @New display name has the right idea. The logic is that the TNT inside the shed has exploded, causing the tin to deform outwards.
  21. Current status of Trident. Screenshot taken at 10:24am Melbourne time.
  22. Despite the terrible weather over the past 2 weeks, construction is speeding along! Track is complete on TNT, and themeing is slowly being added. A lot of concreting has been done around both coasters. I got to witness them installing the train bogies for TNT, which was a really interesting process. If you want to see that in chronological order, start here, and go backwards. They ain't mucking around, and are really pushing for that Dec 23rd opening! Below are some high-res photos from the visit. But there are more in the Parkz database - Project Zero and TNT.
  23. Below are some high-res photos from the trip to the park this past weekend. The starting tub, cropped Tornado 60 element, final S-curve and final drop have all been completed. The drop into the funnel was sitting on the ground (pre-assembled), ready to be installed next. Overall, I think the slide layout is really well paced, with an exciting beginning (flying saucer), middle (tornado) and end (s-curve into final drop). Looking forward to the bonus translucent colour effects. See more photos here: https://www.parkz.com.au/search/photos/location/supanova
