  1. Geez, the site is looking very green atm following all the recent rain lol. More work going on with the fencing today, other than that there is not a huge amount of activity happening. Appears to me that they are awaiting the next stage of development (or maybe an official announcement first?) ? Hard to believe that this ride is only 7 months away from opening to the public! Super keen to see what happens next ???
  2. I'd be more inclined to believe that it's simply to immediately address the current circumstances, and avoid any obvious insensitivities, since the ride's original backstory is about the ride being haunted by a ghost/poltergeist (and the fact it sits virtually back to back with TRR). Same reason they no longer play the Jack Darke audio effects/commentary, and have removed the coffin and undertaker wagon props from outside Eureka. Leaving anything like that post incident would be seen as very poor taste. I don't think it's any indication that a theme change is coming, just stripping back the current one appropriately. That said, there's no reason why they can't keep the ride themed the way it is without the back story. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to realise that the circular shape of the track resembles a buzzsaw blade anyway, so I don't think people would question it anyway. No more than people not questioning the Wipeout being themed to a giant wave without an explanation as to why. Just my 2c.
  3. I have to agree with Gary. I think the 'olden day' Gold Rush theme is great, and it's nice to have some of the original Dreamworld still around in some form or another. Plus Gold Rush & Western themes (which I consider to be very similar in nature) have successfully been used in other parks for years. What I consider to be the best themed ride on the GC is Western themed. People love that sort of stuff. Personally I'd vote for a refresh of the same theme, as opposed to a replacement one ?
  4. I'm sure they would just build a shed if they absolutely had to? Not too hard to create new storage space, especially in a park of Dreamworld's size.
  5. I have reason to believe that they are in the process of upgrading the standard Zamperla restraint system to ensure an extra level of safety. Will probably be one of the last to reopen. Yep. I Posted that yesterday ?
  6. Nice busy carpark at Dreamworld this afternoon, desperate the unsettled weather. Lots of people inside ☺️?
  7. It was, but a certain event resulted in those plans being delayed.
  8. Yeah, I got that the first 10 times, @AlexB, I just completely disagree. No need for font changes because I am reading it. I just have a different opinion ? I guess as an ex forum owner/admin myself for nearly 10 years who dealt with many, many troll visits, I know there are alternative options potentially available than just putting up with one. Vbulletin software had third party mods available which helped to deal with troublemakers, including getting around the IP issue. It's possible that Invision has the same. I'm really hoping admin have looked into it? Otherwise, if he keeps coming back, consider just banning him again and again? He will get bored of that just as quickly, especially when he has to keep starting over. And that will save everyone here a lot of headaches as well. It's not like he's good at hiding his identity, look how fast we blew his cover the second time round lol... not many enthusiasts here are boycotting half the theme parks on the Gold Coast ? ETA: Just want to apologise as well for potentially derailing the topic any further, seems to be happening a lot in this one since this is Pop's favourite spot to haunt and annoy people atm... could we please have a new topic to discuss the trolls instead? ?
  9. Exactly. He openly admits he is here to troll and cause drama. So why the hell has he still not been banned? Dozens of users should not have to continually ignore or avoid an ongoing troublemaker... instead, the troll in question should be swiftly removed. Otherwise (and with all due respect) what exactly is the point of having assigned forum moderators? Isn't part of that responsibility to remove confirmed trolls from the forum, as opposed to just continuing to clean up the messy aftermath around them whilst they drive everyone nuts? Seriously guys, I know you prefer to give people a fair chance on here, but I believe that most of the regular community would agree with me that enough is enough. This guy has had SO many chances. Parkz is gonna start losing more genuine/longterm members' participation in here otherwise. I'm sure we all agree that POP, in whatever obvious shape or form he chooses to use over and over, isn't worth that sacrifice...
  10. Ha... just like when he was allegedly "leaving forever" as per his dramatic topic a couple of months ago. That forum exit door must be *really* hard to find, because somehow he ended right back where he bloody started lol ?
  11. You don't say. Part of the reason I don't participate on Parkz anywhere near as much as I used to is because I'm sick of the trolls, particularly the one in question. I don't understand why they *still* haven't been banned, despite their history of being a nuscience and how clearly they are bothering numerous members right now. There is only so much tongue biting one person can do. Last time I failed to do so, I found my post deleted the following morning. I'm over it ?
  12. Kudos to @Slick and Ourworlds for this amazing article. Telling it actually like it is, without the fake media spin... http://ourworlds.co/no-dreamworlds-not-really-ghost-town/
  13. Here's a couple of pics I took last night. The Tiger Island billboard has been changed over, and the Cub Kindy shop has gone. All Kevil Hill themed again now ☺️ From what I've heard also, it's just the maze. Also have good reason to believe that the Tailspin will be reopening tomorrow. Apparently the Wipeout is not far from its public return, either ☺️?
  14. For the love of God, just shut up please. So sick of the negativity!
  15. Rode Buzzsaw tonight. No new restraints, still the same seatbelt/waist harness as before. I believe the harness issue that was addressed during auditing was related to a harness used by staff to perform maintenance on the ride. On an unrelated note, was in attendance tonight for the Fire Machine pyrotechnics/laser/fireworks show. Was very cool, and very loud! Photos and videos do it no justice. Definitely has to be witnessed in person. My family loved it (especially our 7 year old son) and we will be going back another night to see it again ☺️?
  16. Not really. I think if you did your research, you'd find that all the parks are going through the typical 'calm before the Xmas holidays storm' period right now. So it's not really the best time to be getting any indication of future crowd numbers, not unless you averaged them over an entire year.
  17. This. I have good reason to believe that this ride's current closure has a lot to do with its location and proximity to TRR. Whilst I agree that yes, given the type of ride it is and it's age, it's future does look grim. But I wouldn't consider it a write off just yet. Big decisions are still to be made about this particular corner of the park. Also worth noting that the fencing being put up around it may also help to ease guest's minds. The RHLR is very similar to TRR in many ways, and seeing it (even whilst it's out of operation) may remind them of a certain situation that DW is trying to move on from. Out of sight, out of mind. Yes, knowing that the park has previously has sought the advice of psychologists and what not, I do believe these decisions are the follow-up of advice which is to assist in helping both the park and it's guests to recover and move forward. It all makes complete sense to me ?
  18. @SunshineTom interesting how you've picked the logo of the Sea Shepherd as your profile pic. I'm curious, what is your stance is on marine animal based theme parks? Are you a fan of our local one?
  19. May be reading into it too much. It is an old railway line, even when in present operation. Has been there since the park opened, so yes, it's considered old lol. They are vines afterall, so it's possible that they may just have been put up along the track fence somewhere ?
  20. It's being advertised as a reopening weekend, so Sunday counts as well ? Which I'm glad about, since I obviously can't make it on Saturday ?
  21. One can only assume that this was a decision made on a psychological level ie. by removing any marketing campaign/material being used at the time of the incident (aka visual associations which may remind them of that particular dark period for the park) it will subsequently help guests to mentally heal and move on. That's the way I see it, anyway ?
