  1. Unfortunately I'm rostered to work all day this Saturday 10th, but will be heading to DW with my family on Sunday 11th. Looking forward to it ☺️?
  2. Lol. I gotta agree about the Scenic Railway. My (very tall) best friend & I went on it for the first time a couple of years ago, excited over the fact it was our first ever wooden coaster ride. Spent the entire ride bouncing around, both of us desperately trying to protect his knees from being smashed over and over into the badly positioned restraint bar. He was in lot of pain by the time we disembarked, and ended up with some pretty impressive bruises ? I was also disappointed with the size of the park, way smaller than I had imagined it to be. Shame to hear the one in Sydney isn't much different ?
  3. I've heard similar stories from a friend who works there. One thing is for sure is when they do reopen, both parks are gonna be in the best visual nick we have seen them in a while. So much gardening, maintenance and other TLC going on ??
  4. @Jobe yep they definitely still have some of the old skill games in place today, mainly the ones with the powered cannons that shoot balls at the targets. I'll try and remember to get pics next time I'm there ? Managed to put this together from the video with a bit of effort. Definitely my favourite memory of Grundy's, and the one I miss the most ❤️ Would love to know if this one ended up anywhere, or if it was just dismantled? I recognise the head up on the right with the rotating teeth from a couple of travelling show ghost trains!
  5. Stumbled across this on you tube just now, it absolutely made my night, especially the footage of the old Ghost Train (which there has been NO photos or video whatsoever of until now!) which nearly made me wet myself with excitement, hahaha. So many fond memories. Enjoy, guys ❤️
  6. I suppose that could do the trick for guests as well ???
  7. Haha, I saw that post as well last night and it got me thinking ? Only downside I can see for that hotel placement is noise issues, being situated right next to the M1. I can only assume that their building plans will include a lot of soundproofing lol ?
  8. More conveyor belts for the rafts/inflatables, so that guests don't have to painfully lug them up stairs and ramps. That's one of the major advantages I think that WhiteWater World has over Wet N Wild, despite it being the smaller park. It's a lot more convenient.
  9. Clash of Clans. That's about it these days!
  10. Was looking on google earth app this arvo of the footprint of TRR. Not sure if anyone had posted it yet, but here's the amount of ground the ride covers, including the track. As I said earlier on, it shouldn't be too hard to fence off the Eureka/Buzzsaw side whilst removal work takes place. However the ToT side may be a bit trickier, given its length ?
  11. Just came across this media article from a week or so ago and noticed it references Parkz, as well as lots of direct quotes by @Richard and using a photo with credit. Wouldn't surprise me if lots of reporters have been snooping around here looking for info in the past few weeks: http://www.afr.com/news/dreamworlds-rapids-ride-different-from-others-around-the-world-20161101-gsfd07
  12. They had Killer Croc fully deactivated one night at Fright Nights. There were teenage girls climbing all over it, getting selfies and what not.
  13. Hopefully they will end up removing the temporary barricades around Poison Ivy. Has been bugging me for ages lol ?
  14. Damn, how do you change your vote for the poll? I chose the last option thinking it was in relation to the Flume ride alone lol. Just realised it's for the entire park. Whoops!
  15. Well they are now recruiting for xmas, interview sessions are being scheduled. So that's one good sign that the park intends to reopen soon ?
  16. That was indeed one of the thoughts that led to that conclusion... the public's faith in old rides is now probably at an all-time low. Nobody would trust setting foot near another 80's built ride ever again, even in a refurbished state Obviously this, as you said, will likely affect the old Log ride as well which falls into this category, especially after the incident earlier this year with that fool that stood up and subsequently fell out. Thanks to the media not reporting all the facts at hand with that (both then and now) many people are still under the impression that it was a ride fault. The repercussions of what happened last month are absolutely massive, especially once you realise to exactly what extent for both the families and to the park. Possibly other parks as well, now. The while situation just keeps getting sadder and sadder
  17. ETA: @bladex just noticed you've edited your earlier post. Glad you've acknowledged that it needed more info to make sense. Because that's what they did with Blue Lagoon? I also followed up with a more info (ie. Dirt and concrete) once someone actually did the math as to measurements and depth. I would not have suggested the same, otherwise. I'm not as stupid as you think
  18. OK. When you said I assumed "in there" was the TRR track being referred to. What did you have in mind?
  19. Between Rick's courtyard entrance and the photo shop in Main Street. There's two rooms full of them.
  20. Yeah, I don't think that would be a popular idea. A lot of people have already stated they didn't want to go on TRR again because it would mean having to pass over the spot where the four victims perished, which they felt uncomfortable with. You could pretty much say that it's considered a "haunted" spot now. Personally I think all circumstances should be avoided where any new attraction would have to utilise the old water passage in any way, especially if involves another water type ride. I don't think it would be accepted well by the public, let alone the victim's families. Geez, I hope they don't do that either. After now losing a major family attraction in the wake of so many other SBNO rides, and no new rides being added for years, they would want to be doing everything they can to draw back visitors, even if it means having to plan carefully so that they can redevelop that area whilst remaining respectful to the memorial spot.
  21. Hmm. In that case, maybe fill it with dirt, and then level with concrete? Since it was obviously dirt that came out of it to begin with. They might just reverse the process that they did in the 80's when it was first developed.
  22. Yeah. My personal prediction is that they will fill the TRR track and possibly the entire reservoir with concrete on a similar manner to what they did with blue lagoon pools. At least that will bring it all back up to a flat surface to redevelop on. This also opens the question as to what they will now do with Eureka. I can't help but feel that any possibility of it ever reopening is now well and truly gone, especially if the entire precinct is demolished and rethemed. They may take this opportunity to bring it down simultaneously with TRR. Then again, aren't the shops (lolly shop, icecream shop) and cinema built into the back of it? I wonder how hard it would be to separate them without too much disruption?
  23. A Parkz Crew only feature. We can see who gives who reputation, and whether its positive or negative. You're on it because you gave that particular post positive reputation
  24. Just a subject for discussion... Thunder River Rapids has a large footprint, which is going to make it fairly difficult for the park to hide visually, especially when it is in close vicinity to other major thrill rides. I don't know if they will make the effort to do so, I guess it depends if they think that having it directly in the public's eye is going to cause more grief... the ol' "out if sight, out of mind" might very well be their preferred method of approach to try and help everyone move on from the matter. So, that said, I wonder how they will deal with Gold Rush when the park reopens, especially given River Rapids is right next to the Buzzsaw. The two literally share a fence, and a very low one at that. I've come up with two possibilities: 1) Fencing off specifically the ride entrance alone at both bridges (eureka and giant drop) and leaving the Eureka courtyard area open with a direct passage to the Buzzsaw, so that it can continue operating in the meanwhile until they decide to demolish TRR. I would assume that this may also possibly mean raising the low fencing between the Buzzsaw entrance and TRR load/exit area, so it can't be visually seen by guests. 2) Gold Rush main entrance blocked off, Giant Drop bridge fenced off, so no access to the entire precinct. This will obviously render Buzzsaw temporarily SBNO until after the removal of TRR. Obviously either method this isn't going to stop people from seeing it from the top of rides, but I guess there is no real way to prevent this. It's probably just something the park is going to have to deal with until the removal process begins. I'm also thinking in both cases, temporary fencing will go up along the openly fenced TOT/GD side of the ride, to visually hide it from the public's eye. Personally I don't think they will leave it open, but then once again, I guess it depends what approach they take as to whether they try to conceal it or not. Thoughts or further suggestions?
