  1. I gotta agree with you, @YLFATEEKS. Since we are on the topic, I have recently been on the end of one or two members continually to downvote all my posts without explanation, and for what seems to be the sake of it. This has included cases where reputation feedback wasn't really necessary, or made very little sense as to why they would be doing it. In these cases I have approached the members directly in hope of identifying what the ongoing issue is, and apologise if I had upset them to the point where they felt they had to act that way. However they just chose not to respond and back out of the conversation completely, which was disappointing ? By all means, if you disagree with a post that much, then go ahead and downvote it. I don't expect everyone to like what I post, and it's going to be the same for others as well. But please, be fair and make the effort to provide an explanation every now and then. I don't see the point behind what is essentially rep trolling :/
  2. Definitely! I have fond memories of being on there with my parents in the 80's, seated upfront, and ducking down to hide when it came to the drop lol. I thought it was terrifying back then ?? These days I have my own kidlets to experience it the way I did. My 12 year old likes it, but unfortunately my 7 year old still hasn't been on it as he is too chicken, haha. Hopefully he will change his mind one day! @AlexB is right, the Vikings Flume is a classic. Just because it doesn't cater to one age group (or, in this case, a specific person looking for thrills) it sure as heck doesn't mean that won't appeal to others ?
  3. Ditto. I feel exactly the same way. Like many others here, my husband and I intend to be there on the morning it opens, and will be taking the kids along after school as well (if it's a weekday, otherwise they will be there with us) as they have been pining over the park for weeks. I don't intend to go on any rides during that visit. I just want to show the park my support, catch up with staff and animal friends that we have missed, and basically familiarise ourselves with our second home again. On a side note, and please don't judge me on this, I personally feel that I will not have closure on the incident until I am given this opportunity. It's hard to explain, but everything that has happened with the accident and the aftermath is still surreal to me right now. I think that if I am able to mentally absorb the changed surroundings inside the park (not just the entrance) it will help keep to fully process and accept what has happened, have a bit of a cry, hopefully assist with my healing process and move forward. Please tell me that makes sense! That's just how my crazy little brain works. At the moment our routine of visiting Dreamworld at least once or twice a week is broken, which isn't helping me get back to my personal 'normality', either Us theme park enthusiasts need closure as well, and it's not going to happen until this happens. So I really hope they reopen soon for that sake alone. Amen to that ❤️
  4. Maybe. Someone suggested on here (can't remember who, please feel free to pipe up!) what I thought to be an excellent modification idea for the ride to make it significantly safer... relocating the ride exit to the other side of the bridge, so that guests disembark before the raft mounts the conveyor belt. I can't imagine too much $$ would need to go into such a change, basically they just need to build a ride stop point and enclosed jetty, followed by a flight of steps up to ground level - which I am sure already exists in some form, given that staff currently have access to the boat in the reservoir. As I said on my blog earlier, I would totally understand and accept if they did close down and remove the ride in respect to the Kate, Luke, Roozi & Cindy. I think that would be a fair and justified decision. But I can't help but think that, emotions aside, it would be a missed oopportunity to allow what has been a popular and incident free ride for the past three decades a second chance. Rides that have been given this chance in the past have gone on to become the safest and incident free rides in the world, and a perfect example to amusement worldwide as to the best way to secure and maintain an attraction to the absolute highest safety standards possible. Once again it does all come down to the cause of the accident, but if the ride itself is at no fault (ie. Operator fault, freak accident etc) then it would just be a shame to close it when essentially it wasn't to blame. That ride has brought 30 years of happiness and memories to millions of peeps. I think that alone makes it worthwhile to consider alternative options other than its iimmediate closure/removal.
  5. Is that personal speculation/opinion, or fact? I haven't read anything official stating that the ride will not reopen, and anything published by the media doesn't count. Yes, I realise there is a big possibility that it won't, but then again, I'm sure a lot of people didn't expect to Mindbender or the Smiler to reopen after their serious accidents, either. I honestly think the cause of the incident will be a big factor in the ride's fate, and that is yet to be revealed. We are best waiting for now, before coming to any major conclusions.
  6. Apparently in 2009 it was moved to Funfields in Victoria and now operates under the name "Blackbeard's Fury", according to Wikipedia ? ETA: Found a vid. Yep, that's her! Used to love that groaning noise when the brakes were applied at the end, haha. Memories ❤️
  7. @Jessicajealousy the water park still stands, but it's permanently closed. You've actually just reminded me, on took some pics of it the other day. I should upload them. I just had a quick look online and found these images for you of when the Corkscrew and Pirate ship were still standing, facing east. Old map above, new map below, on same angle. Red circle is where the Corkscrew is/was. Green the Pirate ship.
  8. I definitely agree that they need to consider bringing back the preshow. The one for Police Academy was just as entertaining as the show itself. Also some more comic relief would be good. I know they have the cops in the current one, but it's a very short lived scene, and their voice overs aren't the best. Not quite the same amusement as what Marty and Rodney brought to the table.
  9. If what I've heard through my grapevine is anything to go by regarding the park's reopening process, I think you'll find there's a fair bit of truth in what has been posted in the article. Especially the part you've posted, @Jamberoo Fan ?
  10. That's good news. Hopefully this means (along with the final two funerals for Kate & Luke being held today) that a reopening of the park isn't too far off, assuming progress is being made with the ride safety audits as well.
  11. Ohhh yeahhhhhhh. Didn't even click! Awesome ???
  12. Rumoured Coaster? I think you have some serious catching up to do in the Movie World rollercoaster thread.
  13. Ahh, ok. Sorry @Gazza, this is probably the best I can offer then, given I only took a couple of pics (the other was from further away) with my S6. Why, have you spotted something?
  14. Possibly. Although worth mentioning that the ride closed for maintenance prior to the Dreamworld incident, and the November 20th date was still there afterwards. That said, I'm sure what happened may have changed their reopening plans. Wild West Falls is continuing to operate, although that may be due to the extended maintenance/refurb work it already underwent recently. ETA: remember at one stage the Flume ride was scheduled to undergo about 4-5 months straight of maintenance later next year?
  15. I probably do somewhere, I'll look through my albums if you like. How recent does it need to be?
  16. Seems odd that the Flume ride has no reopening date for maintenance? Last week it said 20th November....
  17. From what I saw on Thursday, they are giving the whole area some improvements and TLC. There were painters doing touch-ups to the DC shop and facades. Doomsday is having new parts/theming installed as well to match the original artwork impression. I can only assume that will paint them black to match over coming days. Either way, that's what is apparently happening with the DC Super-Villians Unleashed precinct. I suspect they might have rushed it open a bit for the September school holidays, and now it's off-peak again they are putting on all the finishing touches ?
  18. And just when the topic of resident Ninjas on Parkz is being discussed.... what a coincidence ? Nice to meet the original one! Welcome back ??
  19. Got delivered some really bad news today by my bosses. Despite starting my new job a month ago, it's now being made redundant due to statewide financial losses, consequently leading to major staff cutbacks at every campus. Only the most experienced are being kept, the rest of us are being let go of. Was supposed to be a contract until May next year, now my last day is December 23rd. Back to the drawing board for me in regards to finding a job
  20. Just thought I'd mention that there seems to be a hiccup atm with membership redemption. Not sure if it's happening to others here, but all four of our family's passes are being rejected. @JaggedJanine said earlier the same thing is happening with hers as well. Hopefully they fix it soon. I'm also hoping they will add more dates closer to Xmas, as we generally try to attend as close to Christmas Day as possible (in previous years that has even the 23rd December) although I'll probably still buy a ticket to check it out earlier in the month.
  21. Yep, that's the one! Would love to know the story behind it. Looks like it has been there for a long long time ??
  22. Ahh, ok. I guess it's possible? Although I've seen mechanics go through the little doors on either side under the Gold Rush arch into that building, so I assumed it was just a maintenance or staff area of some sort. Tbh I have no idea. It could have been a house at one state? I just found a pic of the fairy shop, but doesn't seem to have say signs above the door other than the fairy shop one lol. Geez @YLFATEEKS, you've got us on a wild goose chase now ?
  23. I posted a photo on the previous page of the cottage located on the rim of the TRR reservoir, next to Blue Lagoon. Still waiting for someone to confirm if it's the cottage in question or not.
