Well technically Carnivale isn't really a holiday. At least not in Australia, anyway! No idea if it is over in Rio. If the door is open to other international events and festivals of a similar nature, then by all means, new ideas may be limitless ??? ETA: Check these out... https://www.flipkey.com/blog/2015/04/29/top-international-festivals-you-shouldnt-miss/ http://www.escapenormal.com/2011/03/29/50-greatest-festivals-in-the-world/ I vote for the tomato throwing festival LOL ??????

It's a shame they can't come up with an event to fill in the big gap between now (Carnivale) and Fright Nights, since there is a pretty significant 5 month gap between the two, compared to Fright Nights and White Christmas which are less than 2 months apart! Although it goes without saying that it's not Movie World's fault that Halloween and Christmas are traditionally held at the end of the year lol. I guess it makes sense why they pushed Carnivale forward into May this year, to try and help with that gap a bit. I would have suggested a Winter themed night event to fill in the gap, however White Christmas has already got that covered! I can't think of any other suitable ideas to suggest

Damn, who left the door open this time round?

Couldn't make it today, unfortunately. Tomorrow will be a definite, though! Shame the steam train isn't running both days for Star Wars weekend

http://www.9news.com.au/world/2016/05/13/06/52/one-dead-and-nine-seriously-injured-after-indian-theme-park-accident Wow, surely that would be akin to murder? Forcing people to do something that was quite obviously dangerous, given they noted the ride's engine was making strange noises and yet did nothing to help them? Common sense would call for testing using water dummies, not human beings ??? ETA: this article mentions nothing about them being forced, but it does include a chilling video of the incident ??? http://m.ndtv.com/chennai-news/disco-dancer-ride-was-on-trial-run-near-chennai-disaster-at-theme-park-1405410

Lol. Of course I'm referring to the GC parks - I did say it was my *personal* opinion, @AlexB ? So naturally that means it's from my own experience and judgement, in which case I haven't been to Adventure World (or WA, at that) nor do I really follow the thread about it much. I do realise however that Mark as the CEO/manager of the park does post on here first hand, and I think it's great. I just naturally can't form an opinion on a place (or person) I don't have any first hand experience with. So I'm sticking to the ones I know and love

Wow, how awesome is Dreamworld for being so open and detailed about their ride maintenance! If said DW rep is reading this, thank you so much for keep us theme park geeks informed. Much appreciated This is a prime example of why I personally think Dreamworld is the best park out of the lot, because they always willing to take the time and go the extra mile for their fans lol ❤? Awesome! I look forward to this ☺ ETA: LOL at that direct response to Alex B's post! Wasn't expecting that ???

Turns out it was actually front page news today... walked in to find this at work tonight ?

And I would have gotten one today, if it wasn't for the huge corrugated iron fence completely blocking the view in that direction from the bridge. Heaven knows we tried to see Shame the ride is still down for maintenance, as it means the queue line area is off limits. Unless maybe we can send AndrewH in to get a pic or two....

Haha. There's a first for everything. And sadly it will probably be a last as well ??? That said, I'm still relieved to see our Sea World getting some backup in this situation. They seem to be getting driven into the ground of late with all this Blackfish fuelled protester drivel. Even when I worked there a couple of Xmases ago, I came out to 'empty the tank' leaflets on my cars windscreen. Along with everyone else's. It's sad to see them copping so much misguided anger when their marine rescue & rehab program have been doing so much to help marine animals for so long. They deserve better ??

Went on the log ride today and noticed that post incident, an recorded announcement is now played to riders when going up the first conveyer Hill... "please remain seated and keep your hands and arms inside at all times during the ride" ? Also noticed a bit of new theming in the cave, a smaller statue of a bearded man character and a cockatoo lol. They are back to back to the spinning saw, so essentially now the first things you see in front of you when you enter the cave.

Thank God our government has some common sense!!! http://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/news/gold-coast/government-backs-gold-coast-theme-park-as-activists-push-for-ban-on-dolphins-at-sea-world/news-story/f5d31ca20f96f10f27baed3cc01109ad

Yes, and the other irony is that in their after photos, the majority of the signs the protesters are holding have killer whales all over them
