  1. No it's not. That's an undershoot. I've seen it go higher than that heaps of times, usually it at least makes the O in 'OF'. It was for most of yesterday when I went ? ETA* And previously for the past year before that. It hasn't gotten any worse in that time from what I've witnessed.
  2. Not at all, thanks for the compliment! Glad you like it ? Loved the train driver as well, he is apparently the only one who can operate the steam train (as per a discussion we had with him a week or two ago) and you can tell he is passionate about it. I guess it gives him more to do as well than just pushing a button lol ? This is the only other photo I got. Wanted to go back to get more before we left, but the train was off doing the rounds. Oh well. Next time ?
  3. They've been listening to you again, Alex! They had the Cub handlers talking on the mics in there this arvo
  4. Here's the t-shirt in question... I dunno, the fact they have the mine cart hidden by the ToTII makes me think they are trying to deliberately avoid any speculation. Looks to me like they just used Eureka to represent the Gold Rush area on the shirt? It's still anyone's guess, though!
  5. Here's a couple of initial pics until Reanimated35 shows us his professional ones
  6. Goddammit! Didn't realise that ? I know a couple of Samantha Jade's songs... she did Firestarter, What You've Done to Me and Up. You'd probably would recognise the songs more than the names of them, the first couple in particular were flogged when they first came out. Thats how I ended up becoming familiar with them anyway lol. I think Samantha, Dami and Cyrus were X-Factor winners (don't quote me on this, I don't really watch it as I work a lot of night shifts) whereas the rest were runners up? Hmmmmm.... Apon further investigation, it seems a couple of them have also recently have also joined aussie soaps Neighbours & Home and Away. So they would also be recognised from that. Good grief, looks like we are gonna be battling through large crowds of young teeniboppers throughout the night ???
  7. Have just tentatively booked our tickets for the 30th, which at this stage I think is our best option both work and finance wise. Plus Samantha Jade is the only one of those artists I really recognise or somewhat like lol Hopefully won't have to change the date due to issues with getting out of work that weekend. Fingers crossed! Brad you may be in for a busy night there, that's Anzac Day long weekend lol
  8. My family & I are planning to go this Saturday, probably in the morning/midday since work commitments call in the afternoon onwards. Looking forward to checking out this steam train for the first time in many years
  9. I reckon. Hardest night of the week for hubby and I to get off of work, too. As T-bone has mentioned, Saturday nights are not good nights for hospitality and shift workers. Why they couldn't throw a couple of Thursdays and Fridays into their schedule is beyond me... they didn't have any problem doing it for past events ? Here's hoping they will add some extra days, like they did with White Xmas last year ?
  10. Everything. It was Australia's first ever looping coaster, and to date no coasters here have been able to match its length. It may have had a bad reputation of being a rough coaster, but it was definitely iconic for its time.
  11. Oh bugger @Slick, that's a shame. We had been trying to work out where they would be still storing these in the park, if they were still in fact doing so. Current ride staff have mentioned that the junkyard area behind WWW (near the staff carpark) houses a few old ride parts like the Reef Diver, and the original TOT car is said to still be just sitting in there too. I've also spotted a giant fibreglass prawn lying in there, you can see it from the HWSW stairwell lol. But no Thunderbolt remains So we thought maybe somewhere else, like in those train sheds behind the old blue lagoon water park. I guess it was wishful thinking to hope that they were still around after all this time, but yeah, I guess there was no point in them still being in the park at this stage, if they haven't done anything tribute wise with them by now
  12. http://www.parkz.com.au/parks/AU/Gold_Coast/Dreamworld/ride/246-Thunderbolt Does anyone know if this is still true regarding the old Dreamworld Thunderbolt rollercoaster? I'm curious as to where this information was sourced from. We've asked staff a couple of times now about it, but nobody seems to know or have seen anything related to these retained train/parts behind the scenes
  13. News that is a week overdue, but I just came across it today and thought I'd share! The Smiler has finally reopened to the public. Seems to have been a popular decision too, given the lengthy 90 minute queue on the morning of its return http://metro.co.uk/2016/03/19/hundreds-queue-to-ride-the-smiler-crash-rollercoaster-on-day-it-reopens-5761944/
  14. @Ashley really? I'm gonna have to go and check that out now lol Fingers crossed. I figured a shirt design change would be on the way soon, as their Big 9 checklist one is now outdated - it had the Cyclone listed on it lol.
  15. This is the article I read via Facebook today, which does claim it has been shut down and that "it is not known when the ride will be reopened" http://www.mygc.com.au/popular-roller-coaster-shut-down-after-malfunction-on-easter-sunday/
  16. Yeah. How dare it be overzealous with its safety mechanisms and try to protect people's lives too much!
  17. Yeah, I can't really imagine Carnivale being at Seaworld at night in the same manner as MW, either. Park seems way too "open" for that. If given the choice between the two, I'd still choose to attend it at Movie World!
  18. Last I read this afternoon, the ride has been closed down again indefinitely. At least that's what the media is reporting online Although I am fairly sure (as far as I am aware, anyway) this just in response to the breakdowns yesterday. I dare say Movie World is under a lot of pressure at the moment to follow up in an urgent manner, given the amount of media spotlight that is on them right now
  19. Yeah I don't see what's so hard about it. Those are the facts. The tower itself is just under 120m tall, and typically you go up past the halfway mark on most launches. What do you think is going to happen to a cart that is magnetically flung down an L shaped track at speeds of around 160km/h? Do you *really* think it is only going to go 15m in the air? Physics say no.
  20. Channel 7 news just started on TV, in the headlines it had something about the Green Lantern breaking down again today and leaving people stranded. Will wait for the news story and see what the go is lol. But yeah, it has managed to make it into the media on a slow news day again... ETA: So it got stuck for an entire 5 minutes. Whoopee Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill. They got witness interviews and everything, hahaha. And of course they dug up all the drama from last year with it. Lame.
  21. The only one that really ever used to bother me was the Lethal Weapon preshow video briefing. That was ok once or twice, but after seeing the same movie footage (and from a tired old 80's movie, at that) got boring and repetitive after that. It got to the point where my best friend and I would make fun of it and recite it word for word as it was playing hahaha (much to the annoyance of people around us, gotta love adolescence lol) ???
  22. You're hard to please. Your impression of 15m is actually at least 80m above ground, dude!
  23. Ha. It was off all day yesterday. When we rocked up around 11am, we feared the ride was down for the day. Turns out that it seems someone had just forgotten to turn the outside saw on that day ?
