Peeps hard at work with the renos inside Tiger Island atm... they seem to be doing something to the overhead signage: Also not sure if it has been brought up previously, or if it's old news (given I had no entry to DW for a couple of months) but has anyone noticed all the weeds on top of the river have been removed?

Had planned to go yesterday with the fam, but both kids down sick with a cold, so we had to cancel. So much hole digging lately wore their immune systems out, apparently ??

Yeah, and this is a pretty small "tower"

Gotta be a shop. Would save them having to have half a dozen mobile carts always sitting at the foot of that hill if they could do it all from one official spot. Or it could be another drink refill station lol. Either way, I doubt it's anything overly exciting ?

There was even more of them in there to begin with, at least 10 or 12. Really bizarre. Was like a sea of blue overalls haha. That's why it seemed odd, made me wonder what the heck was wrong with the ride. Don't think it was a training exercise, not unless they are happy to kick out the handful people lined up in there in order to do so. Cuz that's exactly what they did today ?? In other non-hole digging related news, the Tiger Cub Kindy was open today ☺ Also finally got to go on the HWHL and it was awesome. Definitely a major improvement on the Cyclone train, and loved the loud music playing throughout which I think added to the overall experience. The dude in front of me was flailing his arms around to Freestyler as we were going up the hill, made me chuckle a bit ? ETA: New email from DW... As mentioned above, Cub Kindy is already open. Not sure why they said Thursday in the email lol. Also, the fact that they mention the TI upgrade going ahead to celebrate its 21st anniversary makes me wonder even more if they intend to acknowledge Gold Rushes 30th anniversary (a more significant milestone) in any way... ?

Hmm... Maybe this is their response to the problem with Movie World overcrowding? Even though I know the passes cover all 3 parks, but maybe they are trying to prevent it being a future issue at any of them, given the majority of complaints lately seem to have been related to this problem. The solution could be to cap the number of locals that have constant entry with memberships, then reopen the deal at a later date once numbers have declined down to a certain amount from people cancelling their memberships (ie. moving away, can't afford them any more, don't want them any more etc) and freeing up 'spots' again. Although this would only work in theory if they don't intend to continue the VIP passes into 2017, since your average Joe could just go and buy one of those instead whilst Memberships aren't available. But that would be my guess anyway as to what they are doing.

Silly little things that should be fixed

Isn't it only SE that doesn't have loose item boxes at MW? All the other coasters do? -
Lol. Same issue with the giant spider in the warehouse part. No lights, couldn't see the damn thing! Lmfao! No way! As if I wouldn't just leave them to do it. They are my tiny minion slaves ??

Was bloody hot in the SDSC this arvo around 4pm. The queue area in the castle was air con, but everywhere after that... Yuck! Was like a sauna. Made for an rather uncomfortable roller-coaster ride, I nearly broke out in a sweat just in the few minutes we were in there lol ?? I don't recall it ever being that hot in there previously, even on warmer summer days. But when I commented on it to the exit attendant, their response was "air con? What air con?" lol. Anyone else dealt with the same issue lately?

Wow, thanks rac2703 for sharing those pics, brought back so many memories for me of my old fave ride! I spent many, many a day in that outside queue line. I'm still keeping tally of my rides on LW/AA since it opened, currently up to 107 lol ??? Needless to say I won the bet against my best friend years ago when he moved to Melbourne! I have to say though, despite all those visits, I don't recall the queue area in that last pic? Was that overflow in the indoor bit where the AA entrance is now? That's all I can come up with ? Seems odd that I never saw it, despite practically living and breathing that coaster (including during peak period) for a year back when it opened... ETA: oh wait. I am guessing that WAS inside the AA entrance, I can piece it together now. Just occurred to me I didn't go on LW in its later days after the entrance was relocated to where it is now. I guess they got sick of walking people through the preshow theatre after they well and truly stopped screening it ?

Yep, it opened as Lethal Weapon, based on the movies of the same name and they advertised and themed it as such. You had to walk through a chinatown themed alleyway to get to it (which, as most know, is now closed off to the public) and there was LW movie posters everywhere, including a big one above the ride entrance. They played the soundtrack to the movies as background music outside. In its first few years they had a preshow where they would show you a brief 2 minute snippet of a car chase sequence in one of the movies (II, I think) and then tell you that the coaster was supposed to simulate that car chase, barrel rolls and all. However they ended up ditching the pre-show in the end and just ran people straight through from queue to coaster. The theming of the coaster area was all "ghetto" city themed as well, complete with background audio of barking dogs and distant police sirens & incident reports etc. So they definitely did pull it off quite well in the end, even if it was an unlikely movie series to base a rollercoaster on.

Tbh I'm hoping it will be something that will be on the scale of the Thunderbolt in regards to significance. Yeah, she was a rough coaster, but man, it went for what... 3 minutes? And had two massive loops. It was definitely an impressive coaster on the coast in its day, being the biggest and longest one around. It helped to put Dreamworld on the map as its signature coaster. So something for MW that is as significant as TB was for DW, if not even bigger and better, would be bloody awesome in my books

Hahaha oh what would my life be without you to pick up on my typos, @westical?
