  1. Well he did pretty much confirm what everyone else here has been speculating ie. the Twin Hammer ride. I didnt even bring it up, it's just what he described. So he deserves as much credibility as anyone else here, if not a little more since he does work at the park and hears info as it is released
  2. Haha @Richard, you just earnt yourself a like Thanks for that Yeah, he said they were getting rid of it because it hasn't been used for so long and they don't have any future plans to utilise it... I said that was a shame if that is true, as shows absorb large portions of crowd on busy days. Heaven knows that's one aspect that MW really need to work on atm! But yeah, obviously this is just staff hear/say, so I wouldn't take it too seriously, despite the fact he did appear to know what he was talking about. I guess we shall have to wait and see.... Uhm.... they googled "monstrous looping ride" and went with the first result that came up? Or maybe they keep a close eye on what we discuss/speculate on here lol
  3. Great day to visit Movieworld today, guys! Most rides have been walk on this morning, with the exception of SE which was a 30 Min wait. But the queues to pretty much everything else have been empty. Even Scooby was a walk on???
  4. Ok, grain of salt here, but have just had a chat with an employee who seemed very confident to know what's going on. Apparently yes, it's a newer version of a suspended twin hammer where apparently "the carriages spin around as well". He said the stage show building is being demolished. The coaster is aiming for a 2018 opening. There will be a shop opening selling DC villan themed merchandise (surprise surprise) and he doesn't know if they will connect the area up behind AA or not. Pretty sure he said a September opening for the new ride, even though we already knew that. Trying to remember what else he said, but yeah, that's what I remember off the top of my head. It was a pretty lengthy discussion as its a quiet day here at MW lol ?
  5. Exactly my thoughts too. I'd like your post to show my agreement Skeet, but I've apparently reached my limit of 10 likes per day lol. All anyone can do right now is speculate, which is exactly what we are doing. If anyone has concluded that they know exactly what's going in based on what evidence there is (media not included) then that's great. But I like to keep my options open until there is official confirmation. Am at MW right now, the dividers around the new area are pretty tightly sealed. Stood on a box to see over it and yeh, not really much to see atm. Just flattened land and a couple of shovels still at it around the old Santa house.
  6. Yeah I read it. Movieworld haven't officially confirmed anything though, and we all know how reliable the media is lol.
  7. Gonna head down to MW today to check out what's happening, maybe if we watch construction of this new ride we will get some ideas of what it is gonna be. Will grab some snaps and upload if there is anything worthwhile to share ?
  8. I can see why they changed it, being too close to Fright Nights the first time round lol. At least now they are spaced out a bit better with Carnivale at the start of the year. I bet they would do the same with the other two events if they weren't themed around annual occasions that take place at specific times of the year lol.
  9. True. But you never know. It's anyone's guess atm! I could be reading into things too much here, but this also got me thinking, from the article Westical quoted above.. "... they'll be parts of the ride where you're completely inverted... " Notice 'parts' is a plural, which obviously means more than one. You'd consider a ride like the Twin Hammer or the other circlular coaster suggested earlier to have ONE part of the ride that is inverted, that obviously being the top part. So this might be a clue to it actually being something different, if it features more than one inversion? Once again, could be reading into things, but also it could very well be a clue of sort. Unless the dude who said it was just misquoted. Will keep speculating lol ?
  10. When do tickets generally go on sale for this event? It's usually held throughout April, yeah? Have never been before, and the fam & I have got Premier membership passes, so very much looking forward to this one
  11. Sounds more like the Buzzsaw to me. Is there even a minute chance that this could be the new rollercoaster and its a similar design to DW's one? But maybe of a more major scale? Just a thought. And a prayer I guess, since I really hope its not this bloody suspended twin hammer carnival ride that everyone keeps referring to lol.
  12. According to the FB page for the GC theatre, their show season changes once every 12 months. The current show (Bloodbath) started in July last year. The one before that (Spiderlash) in July 2014. So we should be able to look forward to a new show in roughly around 4 months' time Pushbutton, I have not done the Fawlty Towers experience first hand, but I have worked at venues that have hosted it. Still remember the night I was working upstairs in the bistro at my last job whilst the show was on downstairs... Looked up when I heard shouting and commotion coming from the entrance to the function room, to see a convincing Manuel lookalike running out at top speed toward front reception, with a Basil Fawlty lookalike hot on his heels, sporting a frying pan held up in the attack position. Needless to say all the people dining upstairs were all looking on in surprise and amusement. Classic ?
  13. Yeah it would be too much of a distraction from the show for others if the wait staff had to fiddle around with eftpos machines, change etc. on every occasion that someone bought a drink. I think the current setup is a better idea, ie. running a tab for each group, fixing the bill up at every table at the end of the show and then provide wristbands as proof of payment. It was a fairly drama free procedure for us. And yeah, the jokes are supposed to be corny lol. According to reviews, the least popular act of the current show is the yum yum horse one (esp when you learn what the meaning of the term is lol ??) but during our night, the young drunk guys on the next table over still got into it lol, they were singing and cheering along, much to everyone's amusement. I thought the aerial acrobats were great, also the costumes and music. It did get raunchy at times, esp with the burlesque acts, but was still good. I went with my husband, my mum and her husband, and we all had a great laugh. I also enjoyed my salmon. You just have to have a bit of an open (dirty? ?!) mind and not take it all too seriously and you will have a great time at Draculas ? Will definitely be going again when the next show season comes around ??
  14. Just to explain myself, I was referring to the article Ninja posted the link to, where she is referred to as 'DJ Rachel Joseph' numerous times over. Ninja also referred to her as a 'real DJ' in that same post.... I wouldn't have bothered saying anything more, otherwise. Was only cuz it got brought up again ??
  15. Probably because I am married to a real one lol. It's an industry I have been closely tied into for a large chunk of my life, as I worked in radio for years and got to know a lot of GC ones. Also did mixing lessons at one stage too, so I was an amateur DJ for a while ? To say the least, I know there is a LOT more skills, effort & homework involved to hold a real DJ title ? So yeah, it does shit me a little when someone labels themselves a DJ when they have very little musical or professional talent. Just like I can't stand Paris Hilton lol?? It's a pet peeve close to my heart, to say the least ?
  16. You forgot the third - convenience. Unless you prefer having to lug your heavy slide tube up numerous flights of stairs, as opposed to having them conveyed up to you. This is the one of the biggest reasons in my books why WWW is so much better!
  17. Lol, the key word there being "simulated"... simulate/ˈsɪmjʊleɪt/ verb, to imitate the appearance or character of. Definitely NOT a real DJ ?
  18. No, a more permanent structure does not mean a carnival ride is any better. It's the same ride, just with theming. This isn't Aussie World. Village Roadshow parks have quality standards. And sadly they have just dropped their bar in a major way if they think a 20+ year old show ride is what people expect to be added to their Park. No offense but I really hope you and Leviathan are wrong with your prediction ???
  19. Haha, only if you're frightened by cheap scare tactics. I spent most of it laughing my head off ?
  20. Like this, currently at Luna Park Melbourne? You can't be serious. It's a bloody carnival ride, one that has been doing the rounds as part of travelling shows for decades now. I'll be so disappointed if this is all Movieworld is getting in... ???
  21. Haha nice, I only visited Draculas for the first time last year (Dec) for my bday. Absolutely loved it! And yeah, as mentioned, you don't want to take the ghost train there too seriously. It's designed more for cheesy fun than as a proper dark ride. Think back to Grundy's days or the cheap ones you see at the Gold Coast show, and you'll have an idea of what to expect from it ?? Didn't know if that counted or not, being a roller-coaster and all. If it does, then yeah, definitely my fave current dark ride too ???
  22. Cant answer this one atm, because the only one I know of is Justice League and it's hard to choose the "best" one when there is only one option ? As for past rides, I liked Bermuda Triangle at SW the best. And I also have fond memories of Lassiter's Lost Mine ride as a kid!
  23. It would be good if they at least brought the steam/fog effect back to WWF, that used to happen during its younger years as the doors opened to the final drop. I believe this effect disappeared after the fire incident, but can still be seen on old MW promo ads on YouTube. I always thought that the village part the boats go through before they climb the final Hill could have done with something more as well... Animatronics at the very least, if not human actors. I think its unimpressive atm with the swinging doors, breaking balcony railing etc. I dunno... all the outdoor bits just need more than what they currently have I guess, given the ride is supposed to be telling a story. Does that even make sense? ? Either way, I look forward to it being overhauled. Definitely needs it!
