  1. Just a little update on MW, more construction work going on atm.... they have been digging up the concrete in front of the Dirty Harry bar where the outdoor seating used to be. Ideas on why? One thing's for sure, they are making quite an impressive mess in there lol.... Seems they have given up on the novelty of handing out free licenses for kids visiting the Driving School. They have completely removed all the photo booths at the entrance... And they are making good progress on the new paper stand/kiosk thing at the front of the park:
  2. Here's another ??? Apparently they are adding an arch with a big Dreamworld globe to go above it when the stage area is done, which is already made and, according to the entry attendant, looks "amazing" ???
  3. Sooooo cute. Looking forward to watching this little one grow :)
  4. Tunnel portion of what ride, exactly? You aren't making much sense, dude... do you mean the Log Ride? As it's the only ride in the Rocky Hollow area other than the Giant Drop, and it doesn't contain any dinosaurs. The Thunder River Rapids in the Gold Rush area is the only ride in the park that DOES contain a dinosaur, the said Triceratops I believe you've been referring to. The Log Ride has a couple of tunnel parts but they contain sawmill theming, like a buzzsaw, logs etc..... no dinosaurs. And the Giant Drop only has giant skeletons.
  5. All I am gonna say is.. bring on a Dungeons & Dragons ride ??? Either that, or something suitable for the upcoming "Ready Player One" WB flick that sounds amazing!
  6. Haha whoops! Wrong thread and too late to edit/delete it. Sorry ???
  7. All I am gonna say is.. bring on a Dungeons & Dragons ride ??? Either that, or something suitable for the upcoming "Ready Player One" Warner Bros. flick that sounds amazing!
  8. Are you referring to the Thunder River Rapids ride? As Rocky Hollow is the area that houses the Log Ride & the Giant Drop... and it only has a couple of skeletons as theming, no dinosaurs. The River Rapids ride has a triceratops (only dinosaur) and a crocodile, but no, it hasn't always been there. There used to be elephants - a mother and baby - that used to squirt water at you when the raft went past. I think there was a couple of other african/jungle themed animals as well but I don't remember all that well. Was pretty young at the time lol.
  9. I'd suggest emailing the park. They probably have the only copy of it (along with the rights to it) since its sole purpose was as a soundtrack to a show.
  10. Oh I agree and also think they are interesting. Just thought these posts might be better off in the Scooby coaster topic, as I keep seeing the new post notifications and think/hope its something new related to the GL progress. Would be nice to be able to read more about scooby operations and e-stop proceedures without feeling any subsequent disappointment lol.
  11. So... about that Green Lantern roller coaster... (as fascinating as it is to learn about the operation of Scooby Doo evacs) lol ???
  12. Sorry but I don't buy that... I simply can't see the physics of that working for a traditional coaster with the type of track it has. TOTII is a totally different type of coaster (ie. Launch tower) so can't really compare the two, either. Cyclone has very specific "one way" drops and turns. I believe the entire thing would have to be redesigned in order to run backwards and I can't see DW going to that much trouble over an old coaster. They would be better just financing a new one. Gonna need further evidence to convince me of this one ?
  13. Planning to go and check out the little guy this weekend on my day off work. How could one resist
  14. You obviously don't have kids lol. Believe me, when you do, you'll be forever caving to "can I PLEASE have a churros, mum?" and "can we go look in the candy shop?" and "I'm hungry/thirsty.... can we get popcorn/frozen coke?" etc. Oh, and don't forget the green cape for the junior Green Lantern fan, and the MW jewelry accessory for the tween daughter. Kids don't run on schedules, nor do they happily accept a homemade sandwich or a packet of chips when there is better things on offer around them Even after attempting to eat lunch outside of the parks prior to visiting, we always tend to end up buying something during nearly every visit. Another prime example of where the parks make their money. And you wonder why they encourage families so much to buy annual asses (buy 3, get 1 free) lol... seems fairly obvious to me
  15. 3) My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who told me that the Buzzsaw has closed down "indefinitely" due to restraint failure. I guess it's pretty serious.
  16. Conflicting stories coming out about this... now they are saying that the house is NOT being dismantled and is being preserved for future potential: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/aap/article-3192040/Big-Brother-house-not-dismantled.html
  17. Geez the plant grownth on top of the DW river looks terrible atm. Overheard two teens sitting behind us on the train today trying to work out if it was grass or water! It certainly could pass as grass, its so thick you cant see anything underneath it ?
  18. Sorry it wouldn't let me upload these earlier... apparently the forum doesn't like vertically taken photos so I've had to rotate them to get them to work ? Here's one of behind the Cyclone where it was rumoured earlier to be a construction zone for something new... also more of the icecream shop renos:
  19. More construction work at Dreamworld. The entrance fountain is getting worked on again. And the icecream parlour is closed and being renovated as well...
  20. Surely you'd still have to provide them with a receipt as proof of purchase to get a refund? Regardless of whether you've kept the figurine or not?
  21. Here's some pics I took this arvo. There's an orange submarine looking thing next door to the coaster track now. I'm placing all my bets now on it definitely being a Spongebob themed ride (similar to big red boat ride at DW) next door lol
  22. Just another prime example of the "Theme Park Social Network's" blatant bias toward Village Roadshow Theme Parks. Dreamworld managed to take out the #1 spot. Where's their congratulations? They deserve it the most! Seriously, if you are going to label a theme park related group page/group so generally, then how about reporting on a general basis as well, instead of being selective? Otherwise, do the right thing and rename the page to VRTP social network, because the current name is misleading ? PS. Congratulations Dreamworld and well done on scoring the #1 spot!!!! ??? ETA: And just want to say thank you to Parkz for always allowing me to voice my open opinion on here... unlike the FB theme park related page in question, which always seems to conveniently swallow any comments which remotely question its validity or flaws in their reporting. My latest questioning why Dreamworld hasn't been addressed has been no exception. Very poor form and unprofessional.
  23. I just wish there was video footage available of most of our rides (past and present) in regards to their theming and queuing areas when they first opened. I missed the early days of the Buzzsaw and Cyclone when they had story videos playing in the queue lines, had more visual and audio effects, looked brand spanking new etc. And whilst I did experience some of them in their "opening" days, I have only mere memories of what the Giant Drop & original TOT's queue line experiences used to be like, along with many others. I've searched you tube numerous times over for early footage of such rides, but all the videos that date back to 8 years ago (which seems to be the earliest, I guess people didn't see the need to video things so much back then when YT and social media hadn't taken off yet) only feature direct on ride or off-ride footage, nothing else. It's a shame nobody thought to film the entire ride experience for archive purposes ETA: This is the sort of thing I mean, videos like this. There should be one for every ride! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVRBdJ6q960
  24. The restricted hours for the Vintage cars is nothing new. Dreamworld have been operating them with "weekend only" availability during off-peak periods for a couple of years now, this has been discussed numerous times over previously on here: http://www.parkz.com.au/forums/topic/6239-dreamworld-ride-opening-hours/?do=findComment&comment=87827 As for the Giant Drop, I'd have to see further proof of this as from what I can see, other than the Vintage cars, there is nothing on the official website or their FB page to indicate that their thrill ride is currently running at restricted hours. They may have just been running a day or two overdue with their maintenance. Photos for Cyclone have been unavailable since at least the end of January, as that's when we bought our annual passes and we've yet to see them working since then. That said, I'm not exactly sure when they stopped doing them.
