Some worn parts of the track could definitely do with a fresh coat of paint. It wouldn't surprise me if they were doing it up to look decent for its grand return to MW's current ride offerings.

Is there enough room behind Redline for a car exhibit? My husband has convinced himself that they are gonna go into the old water park area because of the big slabs of concrete already established over there, along with everything else (kiosks, toilets, train station etc). All they would have to do is build a big shed over the top of them to protect them from weather elements. But he has been known to be wrong before - even if he doesn't like to admit it But his idea would make sense, I give him that much, especially since it's a little awkward with the train having to run guests by such a large abandoned/unused area of the park atm since the tracks still go that way. They would want to do something with that section soon. Pure speculation, though. On the other hand, seems a little silly now having MDMC separated from all the other racing stuff if they are indeed going to revamp the Cyclone and all that corner of the park to V8 theme.

Dude, I did initially state it was a harmless chat with staff. I didn't say it was stone cold fact or should be taken seriously, and I definitely don't see such opinions as canon. They are entitled to an opinion as well, and I know I'm more than interested to hear it, given they work there and see and hear things around them (including behind the scenes). I thought it would be just as interesting to share their views and speculation on here, as both I and others have previously done so with no drama. I'm sure most of us have enough common sense to take such information with a grain of salt And on another note, it was me who brought up the ideas about the future of the BB land, not their staff, given I did not know it wasn't owned by Dreamworld. My apologies. It was a bit overwhelming to come online just now and read your detailed breakdown and corresponding images. Your original "Dreamworld doesn't own that land" response more than sufficed the first time you responded to my post. Either way, it still stands fact that the house has been gutted and its extremely unlikely that the show will be making a comeback anytime soon. So something will no doubt be done with that land if/when the house is removed, even if it isn't by Dreamworld. No sorry, didn't think to bring it up

Noticed a couple of cosmetic changes around MW earlier today. The little unused shack/booth thing they had outside the toilets near the entrance (in front of where you purchase ride photos) has been completely removed. The area is currently sectioned off with dividers. Also, the white, bullet ridden Bonnie & Clyde car that has sat outside the bank since the park's opening days has disappeared. No idea where they have moved it to, but didn't see it anywhere whilst walking around main street, so may even have been removed altogether Unless maybe it has been moved temporarily in prep for Fright Nights? -
Saw the same today (took a few pics but am at work atm so can't share just yet lol) 2 carts filled with test dummies in the station and an empty cart in the brake zone behind them. Also lots of random dummies lying around on the loading floor of the station. Also spotted a maintenance dude working hard underneath the station as well So they are definitely making progress!!! Exciting times I suspect the reason we haven't seen any live test runs is because the park has likely been doing them whilst the park is closed ie. in the evenings and/or mornings?

So was chatting to DW reception staff this afternoon for a bit about random park gossip and what not... they haven't heard anything regarding Eureka, but seemed very sceptical about the mine ride reopening due to the extensive costs involved. However, they said the speculation about the Cyclone getting a new train and a facelift at the end of the year sounds fairly legit and they wouldn't be surprised if that went ahead. I brought up the new V8 attractions coming for summer, surprisingly enough they had no idea about them (despite the big promotional ad in the new park maps ). They agreed that the Peter Brock car display would more than likely be making its new home at Dreamworld, since the park already has V8 related attractions and also is the Aussie theme park of the lot. We were speculating over maybe the old 'blue lagoon' water park area being a possible site for them, given the big cemented areas and already established toilets/kiosks in that section of the park. They also confirmed that Big Brother's days are well and truly over, the house has apparently since been completely gutted. Who knows what the future has in store for that section of land, but it's huge and all owned by Dreamworld, so chances are the park will expand out that way in the near future if/once the house is knocked down??? Anyway, interesting little chat nonetheless

I don't recall posting or implying anywhere that there is only 10 months in a year. The only reason I said $400 is because that's exactly how much we just paid to renew our current four passes for 12 months, and was using that figure off the top of my head as a yearly cost example. I am very aware that future ones will cost more, especially when upgrade costs are taken into account. Geez, picky much? ? Anyway, I think it's great they currently have both monthly and yearly payment options. Hopefully it stays that way.
-
I am part of a family of four Brad (married with 2 kids) and I can assure you we would struggle more paying by the month than a lump sum being paid during a time more financially viable for us. But hey, each to their own

On the contrary, it IS currently still a school holiday period. WA, SA, NT & TAS have still been on holidays and don't go back until tomorrow. The parks have still been busy over the following week because of this, although Dreamworld (assumably being the biggest park with the most rides) seems to have maintained somewhat reasonable crowds throughout the entire duration of the July school holiday period. But I do agree that despite the wait, something probably should have been said and done at the time, even if you had to follow up with guest services instead of the outlet itself. They would have budged in for you to solve the problem straight away!

Someone posted a photo in the comments of the TPSN FB page a couple of weeks ago which looked like the test cart in action, going up the lift hill. It was in response to the dummy photo:
-
Anyone been to any of the theme parks in the past couple of days? What are the crowds like? I have the weekend off work and am tempted to go to one of them, but don't really want to end up just walking around in circles again because of long queue-ups. Am hoping some of these holiday goers have started to head home by now!!! Maybe I should just wait till next week when the school holidays are well and truly over ???
-
Ditto! I'd rather fork out $400 once and be done with it, rather than being slugged with a $40+ direct debit per month.
-
Eh? What do you mean? The trains have already been on the track for months (they never really went anywhere) and they have been testing for a few weeks now, hence the test dummy photos.... o_O

To be honest... I hope not. The park is already DC comic saturated with half their major rides based on superheroes. I would prefer to see something different, not just more batman and superman ? -
*FINALLY* third time lucky ???

Shesh, attempted Movieworld again today, first day since QLD kids have gone back to school, and it's still crazy busy there... 90min wait for Scooby, 60min for the other coasters. People everywhere. One of the JL attendants claimed it would be a lot quieter after yesterday, despite WA kids still being on holidays for another week, but nope.... ended up just walking around and then leaving after an hour. Can't wait for the parks to go back to normal again so I can actually go on some of the rides ???
-
The annual maintenance period for the Cyclone as stated on DW's website.... "This ride will be closed for annual maintenance from Monday 12 October through to Sunday 15 November 2015 inclusive. " Hmmm... the 15th of November is a few weeks early for a Summer launch??? Unless maybe they end up keeping it closed for an additional amount of time, despite it not being listed. Also, would a month be long enough for them to completely overhaul the Cyclone? Seems like it has a lot of work to be had. Then again, maybe the giant Turbine queuing area can be transformed to look like a giant tire or something so they don't have to remove it Interesting theory, nonetheless....

Lol Brad, yeah I remember thinking the exact same thing when we picked up our VIP Magic passes last month. They would be kicking themselves over the decision to put the Green Lantern coaster on the back of them! Can only assume that decision was made well before the ride zonked out in March? They probably had a large wad of them already printed up by then and therefore too late to change it What do the new membership passes have on the back of them I wonder? I'm guessing no Green Lantern, hahaha And yes I completely agree about the signage issue with the Memberships center. So it was actually closed as early as 3.30pm yesterday? As the people in Guest Services claimed it closed at 4 Meh. Pretty slack on the MW's part if you ask me... I mean not only being peak school holiday period atm, but the fact that it's a brand new promotion and everyone is in the process of purchasing/upgrading these new passes. They should be open for the entire time the park is, not closing up early or only printing the passes on specific days
-
How's this for bad luck.... as I mentioned in my last post, we went to Movieworld last week on my day off work to pick up our new passes, but they told us to come back another day as they weren't making them that day. We came back from Brisbane via train late yesterday afternoon around 4pm, figured since we were in the same suburb we would drive to Movieworld and pick them up, as the park was still open for another hour. So all four of us walked all the way through the park up to the Membership center, only to find the counter (no staff around) and with a sign saying that it was CLOSED. AGAIN. Couldn't believe it!!! And the park was still fairly busy at that time, so rides were out of the question. So I decided to drop into Guest Services on the way out and had a bit of a whinge, just over the fact we had come in twice now to pick up these new passes we have already prepaid for and yet every time we have come in, the damn thing is closed. I had previously also seen it advertised as being open from 9.30am-5pm, yet here it was 4pm and it was shut. They apologised and gave me a card to call them on to check in advance next time round that it is open so we don't waste another trip. Anyway, they felt really bad for us that we had come in again on one of my days off work and yet the membership center was closed again, and the park was still super busy (last time we went in to get the passes it was crazy busy with 1-2hr waits, so we didnt get to ride on anything anyway lol) so the lady we were speaking to generously offered to give us VIP express entry on a ride of our choice, so the drive down wasn't a complete waste of a trip again. My daughter got excited, she loves Scooby Doo and missed out the last couple of times due to long waits, so yeah why not... it's very generous of them.... we'll take the offer The lady walked us up to the Scooby Doo exit and through the shop to take us in.... and guess what.... the roller door was down. People were exiting everywhere. The bloody thing had JUST BROKEN DOWN So no Scooby Doo ride for us, and it was getting too late to go to any others (it was like 4.45pm by this time). Anyway she took our names down and said next time we go in, to go into guest services and they will arrange the express entry for us. Dammit. Talk about a bad run of luck, eh? Hopefully we will get our new passes one day

Holy crap, Alex.... I didn't even consider that TPSN got their latest update from what I posted on here ? I just assumed that they had heard something from a more reliable source ? Well, that's disappointing in more ways than one...
-
So, to follow on from what was speculated by a MW employee in my last post, this is my theory... they couldn't get it up and running in time for July school holidays, so now they are aiming for the September school holidays instead. Makes complete sense to me! Either way, I am very excited... have only ridden Green Lantern the one time in 2012 whilst we were down on the GC for a family holiday, so can't wait to give it another whirl (or 20 ?) as a local pass holder now ???
-
A friend of a friend (yeah, I know, reliable hahaha) works at Movieworld and told her that GL was supposed to be up and running for the school holidays. Who knows if it's true. But if it is, these problems encountered during testing cycles could explain why it wasn't ?
