But they didn't really need to because: a) the theming in gold rush area is intended to be old/run down looking. The original boarding up conveniently fit in with the theming already, and b ) it's for a door which is down a small unused alleyway which is mostly out of the public's view anyway. There are no obvious attractions down that way. Only way people will really see it is if they go out of their way to walk down there (and have reason to to begin with). Lately it has only been us Parkz buffs who have been keeping tabs on Eureka testing progress, and I seriously doubt they upgraded the door just to impress us ??? Obviously staff don't care what the door looks like. So I can't see them putting in such effort unless they actually intend for the door to be seen & utilised by visitors in future. Food for thought! Yes, it may be "just a door" to most. But I am an optimistic person and to me, it's a big, shiny golden door of progress ???

Mmm I dunno. I mean I know Cyclone is getting rough and all (was actually thinking this last time I rode on it recently) but it's still nowhere near as rough as Thunderbolt was in it's final years. I think it's mainly just the theming getting neglected, and the way it has been designed has led it a big job to restore/renovate. It's not exactly your average queue line lol. How old is it now, given it's a second hand coaster? The only thing that bugs me is that they still haven't made it clear to visitors that they can use the stairwell as a shortcut up to the station. Seems a lot of tourists still get suckered into taking the long route ???

You're right, Pushbutton I have never had payTV, so I keep forgetting that Spongebob and all that are Nickelodeon characters, despite the fact there's also a shop there (which I never go into) lol. Silly me I just saw this announcement on FB and immediately remembered that Dreamworks replaced the Nick area at Dreamworld, so I forgot they already had some of the characters and what not there. I dunno if TMNT are owned by Nickelodeon either. If they are, it must be a newer thing. As a TMNT fangirl from the 80's, I know they didn't belong to any particular brand in the past.... if anything they were their own

Yeah I totally reckon they should at least bring the Police Academy "traffic control" dude with the whistle back. He was hilarious and great pre-show entertainment! I recall all them having an Undertaker comedy character at the Maverick show as well (probably the same dude) who used to pre-entertain the crowd in a similar manner. These additions alone were great value and just as worthwhile to attend for as the actual shows.

Great to see some of the older rides getting some much needed TLC! Happy to hear they have fixed up River Rapids and added some new scenery. Hopefully they do the same for the Log Ride now So with the entrance fountain, are they actually intending to re-add any actual fountains or is it just a big artificial pond now? ? Either way, I'm glad they removed the RC boats out of it. Those things didn't belong there to begin with ?

Ummm.... is it just me here who thinks this is a lot of trouble for DW to go to for a defunct/SBNO ride? I mean they had it patched up already... now they have made a brand new matching part for the door. They have obviously put money, effort & time into making it look nice ? I have to admit that this move on DW's part has made me a little excited ?

They are already publicly advertising this everywhere, despite the fact its still a week away from opening. Just saw a tram go past today with a massive "Creatures From The Deep" canvas plastered all over its side

Yes, different show, but doesn't change the fact that the Police Academy was it's predecessor in the same arena. It was still a stunt show, just with less cars and burnouts.

Ok well I'm gonna go against the grain and say I am disappointed with the new show. I mean they brought the storyline back and made a few corny attempts at humour with a couple of cops, but it's still just 20 minutes of burnouts. All the other good stunts have been pulled, such as the 3 cars balancing on 2 wheels simultaneously (which was my fave from HSD1) and the dummy car being shot in half. There were a couple of buggy jumps and a fireball but the rest was still just your run of the mill skidding around, 'near miss' stunts. Watch footage of the first one on YouTube again and you'll see how much is missing and how much better it was with an ongoing comic relief character (Marty) etc. My conclusion... better than the temp show, but still not as good as the first and nowhere near as good as Police Academy.

I'd like to know this as well, as I don't recall seeing any scoreboard at the end when we rode on it a week or so ago. Instead we were having to compare scores out loud whilst exiting the cart, which was a bit of a pain.

So the new show starts today. Anybody off to MW to see it? Don't forget to give us a review on whether it's any good ? Unfortunately I have work today so no theme parks for me... I do have tomorrow off however, so might wander down that way then to check out this new stunt show and see if it's any improvement on the last (fingers crossed) ???

Anyone else notice that the Spongebob movie at Sea World is advertised by the park as being 3D, yet the actual title of the movie on the big screen states 4D? I'm guessing Sea World couldn't be bothered putting in the extra effort with theatre effects to make it 4D the way the movie was originally intended to be :/

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I managed to sneak a peek through these dividers yesterday. The alley was a mess, filled with random stuff - first thing I noted was a big pile of bread crates. An employee for the shop next door walked out the back as I was looking and I asked her about it, she said all it's be in used for atm is "rubbish". In other words, it's just a storage area. That's not to say it's gonna stay that way, but yeah, doesn't look like any immediate plans are on the cards. The alley is just barricaded off atm to give them a new place to hide their mess ?

Ok well that's odd, because I rode it at around 4.30pm yesterday arvo (we dropped into Movieworld for an hour after wet n wild closed) and the axes WERE working but the last Scooby was as still as a statue - I took note to check this time round ? Is Movieworld playing games with us??? ??? ETA: wait. When I said he doesn't move/talk, I meant the animatronics that co-ordinate with the voice effects don't work. So you hear him, but his mouth doesn't move lol. Is that what you guys meant, too?

I don't think any of us here ever believed Eureka would open in 2015. I think it's safe to say such an early timeframe would be a pretty unrealistic expectation for a project of this magnitude. It would take months alone to clear all the red tape for a ride which has been boarded up for nearly a decade. Next year perhaps, maybe even just announcement about it, given it will be the 30th Anniversary of Gold Rush Country and an ideal opportunity for the park to take advantage of.

Ok, so I remembered wrong. That last Scooby before the end of the ride is still broken and doesn't move/talk ?
