  1. The Pirates Of Paradise at Seaworld was the first thing that came to my mind, too. Pretty sure there has never been a pirate show or theme of any kind in Dreamworld's history, at least not from what I remember from my visits dating back to mid 80's. Could it have been this instead, Jake? Oh wait nm, just saw your last post, we posted at same time hahaha. Well there ya go, I never knew about that
  2. Thanks for the correction! I was racking my brain at the time trying to remember the 9th. Totally forgot about the Motocoaster The good news is that the Tailspin is finally back in action! The bad news is that the Buzzsaw is still broken from yesterday >.<
  3. Lol, we took the kids after school on Monday and it was STILL closed. As was the Buzzsaw (technical difficulties) and Shockwave (annual maintenance). 3 of the "Big 9" all down at the same time. And of course the River Rapids closed at 4pm on it's new limited schedule. Felt a bit bad for people paying full price to enter the park that day, as ride options were pretty slim come later in the arvo. There was over a half hour wait for the TOTII at 4.30pm on an off-peak weekday, I think that pretty much says it all :/
  4. Well, to be fair, they DO occasionally release open memos to all employees regarding new & upcoming attractions and developments. There was TMNT, Affinity dolphin show, Creatures of the Deep and a new kiddy coaster & play area confirmed on the one I read on the staff billboard during my time there over the Xmas holidays. So they do share such news and info with their staff in advance, even if they don't always make it clear where these attractions will be placed in the park.
  5. I've thought the same thing for years now, so much wasted potential for both the Western & Chinatown areas of the park. The Chinatown area doesn't even fit in with anything anymore, since they changed the Lethal Weapon to a Batman theme. And the Western area is very "spacey" now because of the removal of the Western/Maverick show. Personally I think MW needs to ease up on the Marvel themes a bit and put both these existing areas to better use
  6. Despite what you guys think, I'm still convinced that's where the new kiddy coaster will be going at some stage this year
  7. Yeah, maybe. They may have intended to renovate it for continued use, but then changed their minds and decided to put their money and efforts into the construction of Whitewater World instead. WWW opened in 2006, the same year that Eureka closed, did it not? Although I do recall the ride being "temporarily" closed for quite some time.... PS. Welcome to the forums Buzzkill and dbo121
  8. Haha, and therefore cracking previous riders' dislocated neck joints back into place again XD
  9. I posted the article link onto Dreamworld's FB wall earlier. Belinda Brown (aka "Belinda koala") had this to say! Given they have been directly answering other people's enquiries on DW's wall of late, I'm guessing it's a park employee behind the account, and they most certainly are adding fuel to the fire with this, as opposed to dismissing recent speculation. I'm fairly convinced now that Eureka Mine Ride II is definitely a goer!!!!
  10. Tailspin is STILL out of order... has been closed for over a week now!!! It must be *really* broken :/
  11. Kinda random and trivial, but when did the Cave Of Waves stop moaning at WWW? I remember it used to moan loudly as an "alarm" to visitors whenever the wave cycle started, and there are still signs around the pool which state this. Yet the past few times I have been to WWW in the past week, there has been nothing and the waves start anyway. Just curious. It's a shame as I thought it was a neat feature. I remember how all the kids used to (and probably still do - haven't been to WnW in years) scream out loud and get excited every time the alarm sounded for the wave pool at WnW lol. Used to be the same for Cave Of Waves back when the park first opened.
  12. In the wake of the paddle steamer being permanently removed from Dreamworld, am I the only one who really thinks the park could benefit from putting some kind of feature on the island in the middle of the creek? It seems weird to me, having a big unused area right in the center of a theme park Does anybody remember the Adventure Island that Sea World used to have back in the 80's, that was accessed via ferry? http://www.roller-coaster.com.au/ride.php?rid=136 It was a big playground area and a fort made from logs and ropes etc. amongst the bush, so it still fit in with the "wild/nature" theme. Kids used to love it - including me lol. I reckon something like that would be PERFECT for that DW island! Especially since they still have a suspension bridge that goes across at the back... all they would need to do is strengthen it a bit with steel rope or something and add some netting to make it safe for people (esp. kids) to cross. What do you guys reckon?
  13. Hahaha, I wish! I'd rather continue going to DW & WWW everyday instead of work. Alas, the bills have to be paid somehow Boo.
  14. Oh, forgot to add, the Log Ride is having issues of some sort atm, too. It was closed for an hour or so a couple of days ago whilst the maintenance team swooped in to do repairs (something about them having to replace a part?) and over the past couple of days has had a restriction of 2 people per log only due to "unforseen circumstances." Needless to say there has been a few unhappy families whom have wanted to ride together, but had to split up and go in separate boats because of this issue.
  15. ... and possibly a very sore neck, if some of those sharp corners aren't buffed out a little in the refurb lol. Don't say you weren't warned XD
  16. I'd say that's what did it! What I find even more amusing is that they keep loudly playing that promo video/audio for it throughout the area (ie. the tutorial on how to do spins on it) yet the damn thing isn't even operating atm lol...
  17. Another day at DW today, making the most of my annual pass before I work for the rest of the week lol XD Anyway, the Tailspin is STILL closed due to "technical difficulties". Apparently it's very much broken atm! Hasn't been running for over 2 days now. And the Wipeout also had issues this afternoon, a bunch of people got stuck on it for about 10 minutes because it refused to return to it's "home" position.
  18. As mentioned in my previous post, I was told by DW staff yesterday that they have been using the inside of the mine ride for storage over the past few years. So no, definitely hasn't been maintained to opening standard, if that is anything to go by! She suspects that been issues with pests - spiders, rats nests etc. so it needs a good spray and proper cleanout. And that the track is not in the best state and, quote, "needs a fair bit of work". But they have been fixing parts up and doing test runs of late. She was a senior ride attendant and said a lot of her info was sourced from the maintenance team. Seemed pretty genuine. So make of it what you will, but I believe what she told me and it is does seem definite that the ride will be re-opening, it's just not known when, as it's going to cost a lot of money on repairs alone. It depends on how soon Dreamworld is prepared to do this, and if it's going to be in time for the ride's anniversary How did they promote the TOTII when it was (re)opened? Was it promoted as a new ride, or a modification of an old one? That might give some clues.
  19. I believe it will be going on the same island area where the dinosaur exhibit was. But that's just my personal speculation
  20. I've visited DW numerous times over the past week and have yet to see that sideshow open even just once. It's always closed and empty! Do they at least open it for school holidays, or is it abandoned now?
  21. This is the best I can come up with atm lol... make of it all what you will
  22. Hey guys! I'm at Dreamworld atm and just spoke to a senior ride attendant about the mine ride. She confirmed that they HAVE been doing test runs recently. But according the the head of maintenance, the track is currently not in the best state and needs work, which is going to cost a lot of $$ to fix up. She said that they have been using the inside of it for storage for years now as well, so probably full of rats nests, spiders etc lol. Anyway she believes they are *definitely* planning to re-open it, and it's case of "when" not "if". It just depends on when Dreamworld want to spend the finances on fixing it finally, which could be soon, or years from now. The time share chick outside of the river rapids also confirmed she has seen them doing a bit of work on it lately! So there ya go :-D I'm in the area of the ride atm, so will see if I can get some piccies before I leave. But yep I can see the water test dummies at the station too
  23. Ah. Cool. Just wasn't sure as I thought your post may have been in response to the bit I just copied and pasted to the other thread about the cyclone breaking down today (as I spotted water test dummies in the cyclone station on fri as well lol) Hmmm well that's interesting, then... I plan to spend more time at Dreamworld this coming week on my days off of work whilst kids are at school, so will be keeping a close eye on the mine ride area!
