  1. Joz, it was just the way it had been worded... like, "thanks for that, can you give me any examples?" it was a smart aleccy challenge. Anyway.... agreed... nuff said... on with the topic at hand...
  2. Jesus Christ Adam.... give it up already. you are harping on the screens for the wrong reasons for crying out loud! And then you jump into a Dreamworld thread to try and have a go at me and Rich slaps it in your face! hahaha. I learnt very early in my time on these forums theres a time to shut up..... for yourself, now is that time.
  3. The Big Brother Spooky Coaster maybe? Go twisting and winding through secret camera runs and come across an old pair of Sara-Maree's dirty drawers.... lol
  4. Actually, there were many reality tv shows before big brother. big brother was one of the biggest hypes, and the most interactive with voting, live tv in channel ten's notorious nighttime deadspots, internet and the rest, but reality TV has been airing a lot longer than big brother - its just that big brother has one of the biggest budgets, gets the most airtimes, is in a publicly accessible place and shares its district with many other fine tourist attractions, so it gets the foot traffic because people go "well, while we're here, lets go and look at it...". As far as ratings, they are very fickle things that can be influenced by a lot of different factors. Back in the day, channel 9 used to air the lotto drawing at 5 minutes before the end of the show. it would get people on channel 9 for the 8.30 movie, and get them to switch off the 8pm and 7.30pm shows on other channels to get the lotto results. At one point, 9 was able to skew the results, by saying more people watched their 8pm to 8.30pm show than any other, only to have revealed later that they took their figures from those viewing at the end of the program, which of course, was when people all tuned in for the lotto numbers. I think Big Brother is seriously waning in popularity. While survivor, the Amazing Race and other similar shows continue to prosper, it is because we see constantly new surroundings time and time again. Big Brother is losing its steam as it climbs uphill, because once we see the first episode, we know how cool the house is. If they have any secrets to uncover (like the split house that became one when they removed the pool) then we can rest assured channel 10 will advertise the hell out of it, and tell us when its important to watch, and then, maybe, they get us to watch the evictions, where they recap every important thing that they showed on the daily shows anyway. The problem with the way Channel 10 are marketing Big Brother now, is they are giving it soooooooo much exposure, people are bored of it before it begins. As our effervescent Gretel Killeen points out at the end of every show (stop me if i am in any way wrong) SO we have the daily show at 7pm, Live House Footage every weekday night from 10.30pm Big Brother Uncut thursdays at 9.30pm Live Evictions every Sunday at 6.30pm Chats with the latest evicted housemate every monday at 8.30 with live nominations, and Don't miss seeing the housemate answer the same damn questions on the 2dayFM network monday morning, and then again tuesday night with rove mcmanus. And in case that wasn't already an overload of Big Brother for you :retch: you can log on to www.bigbrother.optusnet.telstra.vodafone.kfc.statravel.playstation.nokia.dreamwo rld.advertiseyourbusinesshere,phoneSteveon0433988988.com.org.au.net.gov.au or log on with your GPRS enabled phone to get all the latest big brother info sent directly to your mobile at www.bigbrothermobileportal.optusnet.telstra.vodafone.kfc.statravel.playstation.n okia.dreamworld.advertiseyourbusinesshere,phoneSteveon0433988988.com.org.au.net. g ov.au
  5. Discovery Channel will be airing a program on their digital Discovery Science channel 646 on coasters on the 14th, 18th and 19th of February. check your guides! Its discrimination i tell you - having analogue sucks.
  6. What I was saying there was that without theming, a simulator is justa hydraulic lift in the dark. it has to have theming and a story, or its pointless to have. Then learn some english. As I just said above, if the batman ride did not have the video screen in front of it, there would be absolutely no enjoyment in the ride. if i wanted something like that, I'd put myself inside a cardboard box, get someone to chuck me in the back of a semi trailer while they drive uncontrollably down the freeway... same experience.... 1) i have been on the ride 2) you doubt wrong 3) the idea that we are looking for scooby doo IS stupid and ridiculous, since we see him in the first 10 seconds of the ride. 4) the only reason we hear "Scooby Doo, Where Are You" all the way through the ride is because thats the bloody theme song that has been attached to the damn cartoon for the last 20 damn years. It is simply a ghoster coaster, themed to a particular movie, which happened to be very popular at the time of it's construction. There is no story, or the story would be introduced to us in an Ante-Room before we got to the station. ***Movie World employee rocks up "hey everyone come on in we have a special preview screening of the newest scooby doo movie (phone rings) oh, well it seems scooby doo has run away from the set again, lets go look for him*** (hmmm that seems a bit like another ride at Movie World.... wouldn't you say?) I would assume that real rock would be too heavy, and cumbersome to have cut to measure, and real wood would pose a fire hazard. I still think disney is light years ahead of anything we have here. Thanks for that, now don't do it again.
  7. if a company chooses to go into voluntary administration, they are handing over the reigns of the company to a firm who specialises in asset management and cashflow control. this firm must ensure that all creditors are given equal share (to the value of the debt) of the sale of the company assets and equipment, and also to ensure that the employee's are given as much as possible of their entitlements at the same time. If NTG went into voluntary administration, there would have been a BIG noise about it.
  8. Welcome The Worker, We appreciate every single piece of inside knowledge here on R-C.com.au, and have sources across the country that are deep into the industry. I dont want to discourage you from posting and visiting the site, but this information has been brought to our attention almost two months (or more i'm not sure) ago, and can be found in the news and forums of the site. keep an eye out on the forums, you might pick something up before the park actually tells you themselves!
  9. Scott - what about splash mountain? I have to admit, Space Mountain is my absolute favourite, but the bottom line is, even if the ride doesnt have a story (i can't think of a single ride at disneyland that doesnt have some sort of story about it, except the outdoor rides and they're just flats and the like and can't really have a themed story to work with. the theming in them comes from the look of the attraction), but even if a disneyland ride doesn't have a story as such (which i've just said, they all do) the theming is superb. On the subject of Scooby's Ghost train theming, its fantastic... for what it is. but its not disney. to give you an example of the differences, compare it with splash mountain... splash mountain is a flumeenclosed ride, and the theming inside it is superb. Synchronised soundtracks on the ride, animatronics, spectacular lighting effects, and funky stuff that would have been completely unique upon opening - ill give you an example. part way through the ride, there are small "buckets" filled with a fluoro green creamy "paint-like" liquid, that is spat up and down under a UV light. I forget what these are meant to represent, but the effect is absolutely magic, and thats just one facet of an entire ride that lasts a good 5 or more minutes. Scooby Doo has a long way to go to get a "disney" tick of approval, and WBMW would probably not bother to go to the efforts, as the ride is just as popular without the extra additions. As far as Scooby having a story that people are looking for scooby doo, that is stupid and ridiculous. It is a replication of the ride in the movie, with a bit more "thrill" added at the end to make it more than just a ghost train. As far as Batman Adventure, its a simulator. A SIMULATOR! its only attraction is that it has to tell some sort of story. if you got on batman, and it did the same thing, but the screen didn't work... it would be absolutely nothing. the story is what makes a simulator work. and admittedly, the story is pretty crappy anyway.
  10. scott, if you have a look at the proposed plans for the coomera shopping and residential districts that will be built around the dreamworld property, and the fact that part of the dreamworld property will be used in the project... I dont dispute dreamworld has some land out there, but to clear it and make it fit for park use, they need drainage and water flow, sewerage, they might also need gas, they need to run electricity, and they also need to be able to put in attractions to fill the land as well...... its a lot more than a couple million for a single flat... thats a lot of development... landscaping, building construction, theming... its a lot... Macquarie would need a huge injection into the park to be able to expand on this land, which is one of the main reasons why wonderland never expanded beyond its original lands.
  11. ummmmmm....... righ_______________________________t. how bout like no? Im sure it would have been reported big and bold if that had happened, besides, I sincerely doubt it will go until ING are ready to either build on the site, or someone buys it.
  12. they probably gave away tickets to wonderland (or more likely, DISCOUNTS) as either prizes, or consolation prizes, or to the kids in the audience ("come on kids, if you all cheer really loudly even though the show is very boring, we'll give you passes to WONDERLAND!")
  13. OMG! I remember Dina. she wasn't JUST the balloon girl mate. she spent time on games, the plaza and also Demon Manor.... She does have a good voice to her though. i remember on my first shift in the park i came across her on GoldMiner's Glory (guess your weight game in goldrush) and she was singing to warm up before goldrush opened. she DOES have talent. and for the critics... she wouldn't be as popular in the touring circuit otherwise... for those after a bit more information: http://australianmadonnashow.com
  14. well something has to go off the tower where mammoth falls is. 1 it would be a waste to have the dual loading system up there if there was only one ride, 2 they need it for capacity reasons on that tower, 3 they have already said they are going to add a new mammoth attraction when falls goes to seaworld....
  15. I dont believe Time Masters was ever filmed at Wonderland Sydney.... was it?
  16. Well Rappa, remember that WnW is getting a different Mammoth attraction when Falls goes to Seaworld... so this new prototype will probably be another mammoth attraction to work off the same tower.
  17. I think that should answer your question right there...
  18. ahhhhh shut up... lol. I kid you not I thought of that without knowledge of Mr Freeze. there was another post somewhere talking of shuttles having low capacity (think it was in the thunderbolt has been sold thread) and how they needed a ride that could turn out more people. i got to thinking that the only reason a shuttle has lower capacity than others is because theres a large gap between cycles because of load and unload times... to i thought what about.... so Six Flags beat me to it. i still think it was pretty cool that I thought of it without outside input.
  19. to compliment Rappa's post, Wild West doesnt meet disney level, but Scooby comes close. If Wild West was disney level, it would tell a story. Wild West doesnt tell a story, it just has scenes of things happening. If wild west were Disney, it would start you off with everything pleasant and going to plan, then something bad would happen, the rest of the ride would be more things going wrong, with the final drop being the climax, and once you're at the bottom, everything would turn out right again (ok pretty much just splash mountain, but with a different "story" that works all the way through) As far as scooby, I have to say its the closest to Disney that Australia has come. it ties in the original story nicely with the closing scene after the "laser room". but i still feel it's story is a little lacking. In the queue area, rather than showing "the making of scooby doo the movie" it would have all the same people setting the scene for the story that the ride tells. With Disney, the story starts the moment you enter the queue line. with a slight tweak to the ride itself, a change in the queue area, and a better "immersion" into the story itself to make you feel a part of it. Scooby has great scenes and sets, but the fact remains that the story doesn't make people feel like they are part of the action, merely observers from a theme park that have wandered onto a very elaborately decorated indoor coaster.
  20. What does everyone think about a shuttle coaster that runs two trains? now before you scream "impossible" hear me out... the station is divided into two sides, like rocky hollow log ride or sea world's flume ride, but instead of having the load stations in the middle, they are on the outside. The trains are housed on their own "station" length of track, and work on a slide system, so while one train is butted up against its load platform, the other is launched and "in ride". When train 1 returns to the station, train 2 is loaded and ready for dispatch. the rails roll across, so train 1 is now at its station to loadunload, and train 2 is in position to be launched. each station section would have its own LIMLSM modules, which would also give sufficient time for cooling before its next launch, as there would be a full cycle in between uses.... what does everyone think of that idea?
  21. a few members are actuslly in posession of a souvenir book released in the park's first year of operation. this includes photos of construction of many things including paths, bush beast and the tooheys tall ship. Johno is one of those, and I think Wazza has one as well. Mickazee is working on getting copies of these put on www.----URL removed for non-compliance with Community Guidelines----.com so im sure it will be there as soon as it becomes available.
  22. you just made Mickazee's Day. top stuff mate thanks for that.
