  1. Is the log ride really that bad now? What have they done that's so bad?
  2. I think early 2011 will be when we receive something major. At least we are getting something, but I am disappointed that it's not something for the thrill seekers. Let's just hope that it's in theme, and well themed!
  3. The ice cream shop and the corner shop are totally different. The only ice cream that the corner shop serves is soft-serve. I think it's a good move. However, I'm worried about some of the buildings on Main Street. A few of the windows are missing and you can see the internal roof...
  4. Do you mean that they are building another tech box near the Willy Wonker store? Why would they need a second box? Also, did they ever build that 'phase two' of HWSD?
  5. I'm sure there are parks overseas that have internet cafes. I just hope that it doesn't stick out and wreck the theme of Main Street. On another note, the Willy Wonker store was being worked on last time I was there... let's hope that they touch up on some other buildings while it's quite. The speaker (and whole window) was missing off one of the buildings and you could see the internal roof from the street. It's been like that for a while. However, there's a high chance that it has been fixed by now... hopefully!
  6. I would think that MW has the western photos and the other park(s) have Pirate photos?
  7. I went to Movie World on Wednesday and Scooby Doo was looking terrible! The mist/fog in the main room was no where to be seen -- or so thin that it appeared to be absent. The last room had no lasers and the final drop was lit up with the house lights from underneath (was pretty cool to see under there though). Both Wild West, SDSC and Batman Adventure seriously need some work because they're starting to show their age. The River Ride, while old, is looking better than the rest. While I have some negative comments regarding the park's older attractions, I am pleased to say that Superman now has subway sounds playing near the boarding area (although you really can only hear these if you're sitting in the train). Also the Batman-themed area (near the Gotham City Cafe) now appears to have a lectern out front of City Hall. I also thought it would be worth noting that the new Sweet Treats store isn't air-conditioned. I'd hate to be working there in summer!
  8. Personally, I'd love to see every single photo of Movie World (taken before 2005) that you've got
  9. I don't remember exactly what happened in the tunnel, but I remember that there was something in the tunnel that sprayed water on us. Also the elephant sprayed us as well as a few big water jets up near the GD pathway. I'm not sure if any of these are new, but I hadn't seen them before.
  10. I'm not sure if I'm imaging this or not, but last time I went to Dreamworld I noticed that some of the theming on the river rapids had been replaced and that some new water sprinklers had also been installed.
  11. Does anyone have any pictures of the sets, trams or 'station'? Reviews would be great too!
  12. While I love the idea of having some sort of studio tour return to the park, I am worried about how this will be done. Firstly, where will the trams depart from? If it begins on Boxing Day, then that's too soon for a building to be constructed. So I'm guessing that they are going to be using that shelter in the Wild West area that was used for the farm tours. Great... Secondly, will those old trams be used? While I understand that this isn't a permanent attraction, it would be good if the park worried about their image somewhat more than they have been lately. I mean those old trams remind me of something you'd see in a zoo, not a 'world class' theme park (world class being their words, not mine). Lastly, what are they going to be showing us? While the Narnia set might be interesting, it's not really going to make for much of a 'studio tour'. I hope they show us around the whole lot and put some effort into it.
  13. I should be able to do the 29th of December
  14. Sorry, skimmed over Alex's post. My bad
  15. I have been wondering for a while what that new shop at MW was. I am glad it's something that fits in with the classic Hollywood theme -- but please, they should of completed the experience by having uniforms that complement the theme, not take away from it!
  16. rival81, are you kidding? The cost to install a few booths and have 2-4 operators on would be MUCH less than the revenue raised from charging each car $5-10.
  17. Well I started a thread a few weeks ago about a meet-up at Movie World and/or Dreamworld. Give me a shout on MSN as I would love to get something organised. ERT is great, but I'm sure we could get something else organised instead if it's too expensive.
  18. I simply stated my opinion, which was that people aren't going to send money to someone who they don't know. DJ, you mentioned that Ed was at the R-C meetup, and that's great! But that does nothing for me and most of the other members on here, as we didn't attend the trip. I am sure he's a great bloke, but I'm not going to send money to someone who I have no idea about. I stand by everything that I have said as I know that it wasn't intended to make Ed feel bad, but give him an understanding of how I felt.
  19. You kind of missed Alex's point. People aren't going to send $1,000+ (or any money in fact) to someone who is simply conducting a 'project'. Start off with something simple. A forum, your own trip reviews and some video footage. Start small, and then organise a one-day event at a park (like your previously proposed trip). Do that a few times and then organise something bigger. Maybe a weekend at the Sea World resort which has a bus going between the various GC parks... Of course, you'll need to get a fair amount of participants in order to make it profitable. That's what I'd be doing. After all, Theme Park Review wasn't build in a day.
  20. Can you tell me what the event is for? Does it have a webpage or anything where I can gain extra info? I think many of the members on here would be hesitant about sending money to somebody they don't know. In saying that though, I am slightly interested. However, I'd like a little more information first.
  21. I went to Warner Bros. Movie World's Halloween Fright Night last night, and while it was my second visit for this year, it was MUCH better than the first. Firstly, the night apparently had just under 2,000 people in the park, while my first visit (October 17th) apparently had 5,000. Tonight (October 31st) is apparently a sell out at around 8,000. The park was great, with the beginning of the night having a fair few actors around Main Street scaring guests. Of course, these actors seemed to disappear later into the evening, accept for one, who was chasing kids up and down the street. The fog throughout the park was thick and made guests (at times) have to put their hands out in front to stop them from running into other guests. The lights, however, were not as good as last year. I don't know why, but last year's lighting seemed to provide more 'wow' than this year's. The shows were really 'meh' this year. Firstly, the rock band was replaced with a stupid vampire show, which was so boring! The Nightmare House film was just two short films thrown together, which left some guests walking out before the second one even started! However, unlike last time, the projectionist fired up the chairs' air puffers right at the end and caused everyone to jump! While cool, it would have been even better if the effects were fired off when the film was at its scariest, not at the end. Superman Escape was running two trains and wait times weren't an issue. Road Runner was only running one, however, wait times were not an issue either. I didn't see Lethal Weapon because when we went over at 8:40pm the queue had already closed -- even though it was meant to close at 9pm and wait times for that ride hardly ever exceed 20 minutes. The mazes on the second visit were MUCH better, despite one. The Fun House was full of clowns and while I am not afraid of clowns, I did still jump in a few spots... and got chased out by a clown (8 out of 10)! The Bedlam Manor was also full of actors and they didn't just stand there like last time -- they were pretending to be wall hangings and dead people -- and really did cause everyone to scream just a little (9 out of 10). The Dragon Alley was very boring on my second visit. I did not see even one actor in the main room, and this type of maze really needs actors, otherwise you are just walking through a pitch-black maze (3 out of 10). What else? There's not much else to add. The night was great and next year's should be even better. However, it does get boring at around 10pm when the actors start disappearing and the guests depart. I think a show in the show stage is a must and more actors in the mazes is essential! Plus, I think we should keep Main Street for live music acts and use the show stage for any real 'shows'. I also am really angry that I missed the Thriller dance... Pictures!
  22. Funny you should mention Sizzler, but I see your point. However, don't they charge more for 'extras' at different venues? Then again, I don't buy hot dogs normally. Back on topic... how long did it take to get through Superman's queue?
  23. Well I guess it would have to do with the weather. Roller coasters wouldn't be able to operate with buckloads of snow coming down. It would also be VERY cold to go to a park when it's snowing.
  24. This park looks amazing! I am planning to hit the park when it opens. I really do hope that these new SLCs prove to be better than the old design...
  25. "a little coaster track with dips and turns" What would you suggest? Sounds like a wild mouse to me...
