  1. I cannot believe this thread. When was the last time you went to a theme park and rather than looking for something to pick about and write up here to bring down a theme park, you went and just enjoyed the day and not leave thinking about how crap the day was? I posted a thread recently when I went to Movieworld and although i still wrote about some things that were kinda annoying, i still enjoyed myself anyway. Where else can you hang out with a group of friends and have an escape for the day? And i agree with JD, almost everyone on this site is anti Dreamworld. Now, i don't care if you work at a WVTP, good for you, I'm jealous of the stunt drivers and dolphin trainers. What i mean is, you work at a theme park, which is competition to Dreamworld, so there is going to be banter between staff, but can you seriously say that your day is going to be ruined because there isn't enough themeing at a ride or the food's expensive? If thats what ruins someone's day at a theme park these days then the world is in dire straits. I havent heard of any interstate or international guests that have said that their day was ruined because of food prices and themeing. The just come to the parks to have an escape from reality for 8 hours. I think that what we need to do is that, rather than saying how crap everything is, to look at positives at the parks. Because i know that to me, a theme park is a fun place to go for a day. I'm not ripping on the other three parks, and saying DW is superior to all other parks, i'm just saying that rather than saying that WVTP is superior and DW is bottom of the barrel, we give all theme parks a level playing field. So i think that rather than all of those people saying crap things about DW, you should say something good about another park. I'm sick of seeing one thing written about DW saying it sh*thouse and there's a huge thread about it yet the same problem occurs at a WVTP and it isnt talked about or theres a list of excuses that says why it isnt such a problem yet it is incredibly similair to a DW problem. So rather than making excuses, suck it up and take it, or expect the same thing that yuou give to DW in future. So all up, i think that if you hate DW solely because you work at another theme park, then i say give it a chance. When i go to Movieworld i enjoy the fact that the place is different. So i say, stop holding grudges and get over it. -kieron
  2. I would have to agree entirely with you on the Hollywood stunt driver side of things (i havent had a chance to ride jet rescue so i cant comment on that). i understand that new shows need time to get settled down however, after seeing the police academy stunt show several times, the new stunt show left a bitter taste with the distinct lack of substance. As i've said in other threads, the show has great driving that does eventually get boring after its repeated for the 4th time and the distinct lack of characters that provide physical slapstick comedy and stunts leave me wondering if i want to go back and see it again, which is completely opposite to the police academy stunt show which i wanted to see every show of.
  3. as far as i could see superman was running 2 trains. but everything else seemed to be runnung on outside peak settings. batwing is definately not worth waiting over 45mins for. I agree that the stunt show is great technically, with good driving and fireworks however after seeing 4 cars drifting for 10mins, the next 10mins of the same thing left me wanting more from it. for example, the police academy stunt show had physical stunts as well as motorbikes, explosions and slapstick humour. So that's my opinion: its good but can be improved 10-fold. i understand that its new but still should something that makes me really want to go and see it but at the moment i feel that if i was there i'd see it but wouldnt be absolutely dying to see it again.
  4. just went with friends. myself and 3other friends of which one doesnt ride rides
  5. Went to Movieworld yesterday for some fun and mainly to see the new stunt show. The first thing i noticed was that mw has a board with approximate queue times. Immediately i decide to desregard these times when i saw a kid moving the magnets to 45mins+ for the batman simulator too and 10mins for the superman ride. We headed over to Wild West Falls, which had a fairly shot queue line. The ride was fine albeit a bit rough bit that can come to be expected with age. When coming into the end of the ride however we ran into the boat in front that was stopped entering the station. We proceeded to sit in the sun for a further 5mins without being told what was happening with the ride and how long we were going to be sitting there. A bit disappointing considering that the unload operator was standing leaning on a pole not 2 metres away. After leaving the ride somewhat hot and sweaty rather than cool and wet we headed over to superman which was good as usual except for the 5mins waiting on the ride while the ride operator decided to flirt with a rider. After superman, we headed over to the new stunt show where i sat down with my $10 worth of cold popcorn and hot coke to watch a show that i cannot fault technically with great driving and effects however i left feeling like it lacked humour and character, did not compare in anyway to Police Academy and was a 20min show of showing off driving skill with some fireworks. We headed to Scooby-doo and waited in a queue line that it always confusing to me seeing as its 6metres wide and someone can always just slip up the side, however the ride was okay and the staff were moving the queue line quite well. From there we moved over to the Shrek 4D and after lining up for 15min we got to the fron to be told that they were out of glasses. (Maybe the staff should've counted the number of glasses left and told the queue line earlier who was going to be the last one in?). So we had some food and went back for the next show which was fine and then headed over to Batwing Spaceshot which we found to have an incredibly slow load and unload time. I don't know if it was just the ride operators for the day or if thats just the way it is but it was frustrating to wait 20mins from almost the front after waiting 45mins to get to that point. After that ride we decided we had time for one more so we headed to lethal weapon at 4.25pm where we found a one ride long queue line. We didnt end up riding until 5.05pm becuase of such a slow load and unload by the staff, and i know its possible to move a ride in and out on that ride with one train a lot quicker than that because they;ve done it on the haloween night. All in all, the rides were good except for some incidents that have made me think about how much better it could've been if we weren't stopped and had to wait long times for the rides to load and unload. Once again, the stunt show was good but needs work.
  6. The Q4U system is currently in use in every six flags in the United States. In great Adventure in Jersey the unit sells for $44.99 for one person on a standard unit and $89.99 for one person on a gold unit (which cuts 75% of the que time of ur waiting time). Some of the parks sell in excess of 1000 units a day. I think that $15 for one person at Dreamworld is not an unreasonable price to pay for the convenience of not having to stand in a que line. And the fact that the unit is only able to que for one ride at a time means that the user does not have the ability to "jump" que lines. Also, Original, this is not an issue about park staff. On a recent visit to Movieworld I found that the ride operator had bought a new pair of jeans the day before. So i don't think its particularly fair to blame somebody who day in, day out has to put up with people complaining about the heat and how they've had to line up for hours and they're day's ruined because they haven't got all of the rides in that they wanted to do.I think that all ride operators grin and bear alot regardless of what park they work in. Overall, i think that the Q4U is a step in the right direction for the park. It shows that Dreamworld is grasping a concept that has taken off in the US and running with it. As with the issue of que jumping i feel that if someone wants to pay for the convenience of not having to stand in line but still wait the same time, then i say go for it. i certainly would.
