  1. My advice would be go and become a shareholder, as lets face it, these are the people that these "Higher Ups" are supposed to listen to first and foremost before anyone else in the chain. The goal of a corporation is first and foremost to maximise shareholders returns. Then you can get up at the AGM and say "I went to (insert theme park here) and I noticed that the (insert ride here) was looking very rough and worn out. What are you going to do about that?" And of course you will probably get looked at oddly by the board and everyone else there. Hey if you have enough money, you can buy enough shares that you can get a seat on the board, and start telling the "Higher Ups" what to do yourself.
  2. I did actually (it was out the front of the big wooden roller coaster), My girlfriend actually pointed it out. They were quite colourful, I wish I had taken a photo. (although that sounds a bit suss)
  3. My mistake Yeah 9 seats! Tonnere de Zeus, is AWESOME, there are simply not enough superlatives in the english (or the french) language to describe just how good this ride is, its a shame the queue was so long, (and the girlfriend came along) as I could probably ride it all day, it was everything you could ever possibly want from a wooden coaster. Goudurix, a bit rough but I enjoyed it, it has a lot of very tight turns, and does not really flow from one element to the next very well. My Mrs said she almost blacked out going into one of the loops, its not the greatest coaster I have ever been on, but its not the worst either (*cough* The Thunderbolt) . But if you go there you have to go on it. The Bobsled was surprisingly entertaining and was easily my woman's favourite attraction (we ended up going on it 3 times) and I really enjoyed it. It was flowing and smooth (I guess a ride like this has to be, and was quite the contrast to Goudurix) but it really is a totally different experience. Yeah if you wanna establish database entries that would be cool. I took about 30 photos all up of the park, (I didn't include all of them in my post) Bussy: France is going very nicely indeed, (I actually just got back from a 2nd visit to Eurodisney today. I was with an ex Wonderland cast member) The food here is awesome. (although at Eurodisney it sucks) Rival:, when you get to Paris, head out to Eurodisney during the week, (for gods sake DO NOT go on a weekend), and head out to Parc Asterix on a Sat or Sun (as its not open midweek, except during school holidays) I know you posted a thread a little while back about Eurodisney, I put some thoughts about it in there. I am tossing up whether to get an annual pass to either Euro Disney or Parc Asterix as I am going to be here for a little while. I can't really decide just yet.
  4. Howdy, This week I took myself off to this little known park in Paris, which is infact the 2nd largest park in France behind Euro Disney, (so I have been told anyway) If you are a fan of Asterix and all of his friends and their adventures, then this is the place for you. Also if you feel like riding a massive wooden roller-coaster, hey this is you place also. I was more a fan of the latter, so after a 20min trip on the train from Paris to the airport. Then a 10 min trip on a bus, I arrived right on opening time at 10am. After studying on the internet the night before, and reading about people whinging about the queue on the big wooden roller coaster (called "Tonnerre de Zeus" or in english Thunder of Zeus) I went straight there and there was already a good solid queue. This ride was freaking awesome. I had not been on a Wooden coaster since the ol Bush Beast at Wonderland, but my god this thing was soo good. It snaked its way through and around the trees in the back of the park, away from everything else so it was impossible to get any decent photos of it. It was bumpy and rough and had enough twists turns and airtime in the 2 min trip to satisfy me, and leave me wanting more. Here are some pics After that I couldn't resist wanting to head straight around and go on this very nice looking looping coaster called 'Goudurix' This ride was also pretty awesome it had 5 inversions and plenty of tight twists and corkscrews to keep anyone happy. There was quite a short queue here so I went on a couple of times. They also had a toboggan style roller coaster, the likes of which I have never ridden before and was keen to try. Called 'Trace du Horra' it sort of wound its way through the trees, with you sitting in these little individual cars that can seat 2 people one in front of the other, and like a toboggan, it just makes its own way down the track without rails or anything like a normal rollercoaster. For me it was a rather strange experience and it rides its way up the walls of the long sweeping turns, (and back down) as it gracefully twists and turns its way back to the station. Here is a selection of photos of other rides in the Park. Sorry I just realised I am in a hurry now, I will finish off my thoughts on the Park shortly.
  5. Is it going to be another 'exciting' Croaker production?
  6. This looks superficially not too bad, at a very quick glance. Looking at it deeper, I am trying to work out exactly how this will all come about. 1) I am trying to work out exactly what it is that this JVplay company actually do. It looks like they (own?) some kiddies indoor playland somewhere in Liverpool? And according to their web-site have facilitated in someway the construction of three similar small kids play environments around Aus, and are the local distributors for a host of 'structures' aimed at children aged 0 - 8, as well as some other attractions. Do they have the expertise to pull off something like this? 2) I myself have been struggling a bit recently to make some money out of the share market, I don't know who in their right mind would think that in the current environment it is a wise decision to invest (as a guess from looking at their little proposal) $100 Million dollars into an industry that has never faired well in Sydney. (Look at all of the failures in the industry over the last 30 years) But good good luck to them, I hope it comes about, but it sounds very very pie in the sky at the moment. Oh yeah one other thing is this "Proposal" actually a proper proposal, like a business plan or is it just a media release at the moment?
  7. I actually went last week to Disneyland Paris, it was the day after a public holiday (we went on a Friday) and it was choc o bloc full of people. I have never queued so much anywhere in my life. (Even Disneyland Calif in the middle of summer was not this bad) The queues out the front for all ticket booths stretched about 80m, (my advice pre pay on the internet if you can) we ran into some fellow Aussies inside who said they queued for over an hour just to get inside. Queues were pretty large for everything (best wait we had was for Space Mountain, even in the middle of the day was only 30mins, bad luck for those who grabbed a fastpass for that) We grabbed a fastpass for Star Tours, as it is notoriously slow at loading, the regular queue was 90mins, even with our fastpass, and going back late in the afternoon (5:30 pm) we still queued in the fastpass queue for 30mins on our return. The queue for Thunder Mountain was a little over an hour, so to for Indiana Jones (which we happily queued for) Couldn't help ourselves and went on Pirates of the Carribean & Its a Small world, just because they were short queues and any trip to Disneyland would not be complete without it. Here is a pic of Thunder Mountain If you have small kids, there were hell long queues for the Tea cups and for Autopia, (or whatever its called) and some of the other kids rides. Also, whilst you are buying food and drink don't even think about trying to do the conversion from Euro into Australian dollars as you will have a heart attack. Infact that goes for Paris generally. Speaking of Paris, I also took myself along to a large Carnival in a Park at the edge of the city called "Faire du Trone" It was basiaclly a massive tempoary carnival that rolls into town for a couple of months every Spring. I did go on the best temporary roller coaster I have ever been on here. Called "King" And they had plenty of other rides as well, here is a couple. Finally, if you are comming to Paris, I HIGHLY reccomend going to Parc d'Asterix (which is based on the Asterix cartoons) it has some pretty dammed good rides, especially a couple of awesome looking roller coasters. I am going there next week
  8. I did some more today, I even managed to make a festy lake. Shame you cant have brown water.
  9. Howdy, I have been on hols and today I was really bored so I thought I might create 'The Beach' from Wonderland Sydney. Here are some shots from what I have done so far. Shot0002.bmp Shot0000.bmp
  10. I remember when I was about 5 years old going to paradise gardens. There was some boat you went on and you looked at some dinosaurs, I seem to recall a small train that went around the place and some water slides and a 9 hole golf course. One thing I really remember is one of the staff was telling my mother that the place would be closing down soon because they were going to build a golf course. I have since played golf on this course many times, as what was once Paradise Gardens, is now Riverside Oaks Golf Course out at Cattai. Infact if you play the front 9 at Riverside oaks this pretty much the old 9 hole Paradise Gardens course (has had some significant work but it follows the same route) Now that I have been out there as an adult many times it seems like a bit of an odd place for a tourist attraction, as it really was way way way out of town and a little bit in the middle of nowhere. If you have a look at Riverside Oaks on Google earth you will see what I mean. Infact
  11. I found some new vids on YouTube on Wonderland Sydney, check em out, There is one of the Beastie, one of The Demon and one of the Zodiac http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnHDdrN3OMg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUnIoS8m-2g http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Md7t_zI8p74
  12. I wonder what the former Wonderland Operations manager is (whom was ops manager at SpaceWalker) is doing with herself now that it has shut down.
  13. I read a post elsewhere about an episode of Mother & Son where Ruth CRacknell visits a very young Wonderland and rides the Beastie. I managed to track down a copy of the DVD and I have captured some screen shots of Maggie on the Beastie. According the episode it was filmed in 1987.
  14. Well done Lg you are absolutely correct. Indeed a lot of the video was taken from the centre of the ride, among other places. The video I have is about 5meg, (and i cant seem to post it here cause of the size) So if anyone wants it send me a PM with ya email and I will email it to ya
  15. Here are some screen caps of a vid I made from the final weekend of Wonderland
  16. And sucked in to all the people who left Wonderland to go and work at Fox Studios when Sunway took over Wonderland. What a great career move that was. Mind you, Wonderland didn't really do much better in the end now did it.
  17. I actually took it from walking up the stairs on the lift not from riding the ride Here are some more
  18. Howdy all. Here are some new pics and stuff that I had scanned today. Let me know wot ya think
  19. I remember one day when there was a Charlie at snowy, (a few years ago now) when the water drained out, one of the boats came to rest ontop of one of the logs that made the rapids about halfway around the ride, it did not make it around to the dock area. I remember that the guests had to be exacuated out of the boat from in the trough and walked along the trough and out of the ramp near T1

  21. CM was a bit before your time Dj
  22. If my memory serves me correct the OH&S manager at the time was a lunatic Canadian
  23. Was it the one with the firey red hair and freckles? I saw her in the city the other day. looks as silly as she ever did, and I am sure she is still as un-intelligent as ever!
  24. Thats fine, I was thinking of another time that it happend. The one I was thinking of was late 2001, it seems crazy that it happened again (late 2003? When u were operating. Is that right) like 18 months later It happened one other time, that caused the ride to get stuck in the boomerang. (without guests on it) cause a certain lunatic maintenence manager decided he would play with the train and was reversing it out of the station manually. For some unknown reason he thought it would be a good idea to keep stopping at starting the pully, and before he knew it he had the train ocillating on the cable, (sort of bouncing forward and back) and on one of the bounces about 1/2way up the lift the cable could not take the stress and the cable snapped right where it attaches to the catch car, sending the ride down through the station, up into the boomerang, where it came to rest
