But are we sure it was MW that asked for them, or did S&S already have this design in planning/ready to go? I'm sure it wasn't just MW that wanted this, it's also beneficial for S&S because they can then sell the model with an extra option. Just like how Mack can sell their wild mouse with a lift instead of the standard lift hill. Or what about SE, that might be a similar system to others around the world yet carried risk because that design had never been built before. I'm just saying we have no idea what pressure was put on S&S to create an 8 seat, if any was at all, and that's something I doubt we'll ever know.

Not from Sea FM, written for the entire HIT Network. Probably from Melbourne or Sydney. You'll find it on all their HIT websites, you'll also probably find the article pop up on the Triple M network as well as their Local Works stations like Gold FM.

When you look at Disney Hollywood Studios they seem to be following the same path as Movie World, instead of just showing you behind the scene of movies they're want to take you into the movies themselves.

SeaWorld overflow car park lost.
Original replied to New display name's topic in Theme Park Discussion
And until SV had to be demolished & they filled in part of the lake for Wild they were very land locked and I don't really want to see anymore of the lake filled in, give the park a real charm. With the car park, I'm not suggesting build a second across the road just acquire the land for future expansion, most animal exhibits need large plots of land, just look at Shark Bay & Dolphin Cove. The car park could always just go up -
Well I'd love to see the park start to expand past the DC area and bring people to the back area of the park around the Stage Show & WWF. Or the entire WB Kids area get some love. However, around the DC area I'd love to see something go into the helix of SE and the unused cinema of LW/AA and open up the LW shop as a food outlet or something.

SeaWorld overflow car park lost.
Original replied to New display name's topic in Theme Park Discussion
If the State Government is happy to give out/lease some of the land on the spit, which it seems to be at the moment, could SW perhaps make the move across the road to give it plenty of room for expansion in the future? -
So I heard this on the news on the radio in Sydney going back nearly half a month now. However, I haven't been able to find one single article about this on the Internet so I hope someone knows what I talking about. But while listening to a breakfast radio show every half hour in the news break they airing the story of the possibility of VRTP's opening a new theme park in Sydney following the massive success of WnWS. I mean this news doesn't surprise me at all, my guess was we would see something like this in the future and the VR was using the WnW brand as a testing ground; if it is true it seems to have come together a lot quicker though than what I thought it would. What I didn't like about the story is they said VR were exploring the possibility of building another Movie World in Sydney. I just feel like really with only a population of only 22million, can't we get something we haven't seen here in Australia yet?! What is surprising me is for a radio station to air the story but not find it anywhere else, I mean they're a news organisation so I'm presuming they must ave heard it somewhere to report and not just get my hopes up for nothing Just wanted to know since I can't find any info online if someone had heard of something as well (I guess not though otherwise someone else would have already started a thread).

Wait, how do we know the island where the dinosaurs were located has anything to do with Wild?

Being I'm not an expert at law I can't be certain here, but wouldn't Wet'n'Wild's response of 'we have the correct procedures in place' be a way specifically not to take the blame, because if at any stage they admitted to being responsible for your food poising they are then liable for you to sue them. Unfortunately these days even when someone gets stuck in a slide or **trips** over they see $$ signs, so now ALL companies these days seem to deny, deny, deny and demonstrate the procedures in place to ensure it doesn't happen.

Although I don't watch the show form what I saw on Instagram, the Today have also been to Wet'n'Wild and Sea World. I guess Dreamworld would be still to come then! -

Adventure World New Coaster - Abyss
Original replied to colliric_855's topic in Theme Park Discussion
^ The way I see it though as Storm is more family friendly, Abyss aimed more at thrill seekers. Less thrilling means less airtime. I'm presuming you mean world class. Without riding it, and working on the budget they had this definitely is very impressive and looks to be up there with some of the best coasters we have in Australia. But I'm going to add Scooby to that list, it might be a standard wild mouse in the coaster section, but lift, added 'haunted' section theming, puts it up there. It may not be thrilling but perfect for families and crowd favourite (look at it lines everyday). I'd add Jet Rescue as well, it may be short and a family coaster but TPR constantly talks about how much they love it and how solid it is. And surely back in its hey day ToT was there, it held a 2 world records, and America built one at the same time, thats got to count for something! Anyway, talking about Abyss at AW: I'm really impressed to see how this turned out, pity its too far away. If I ever went over to Perth though, its definitely on my list if I ever make my way over there! -
^ It does get used for a maze, but I'd prefer it if they could find another spot to put the maze and use the show stage for what it was actually built for... a show! And yea after posting that and thinking how much revenue it would take away your right not the best place. I'd still prefer not have one in the Scooby queue either.

I have no problem with increasing prices and increasing crowds if a few things could happen: 1) Run the night till later, the hardest part is the forever complaining residents. But if they could someway get past it for just the month but in America, Universal's nights finish between midnight and 2am, depending on the night. 2) Definitely run Scooby and Justice League till the end of the night. I know some people said on here the park didn't have JL open at the beginning, did this change. 3) Again you'd have to get residents past this but somehow open the rides till later if you could get it past them, it would be nice if they could all open till the end, or even some right at the front like batwing and GL could maybe be allowed. 4) Open Wild West, I know Joz or DJRappa have already said on here before logistically its a nightmare, but to light the ride up in spooky colours put a couple of Halloween sets up, I've always thought the ride would be perfect for it, heck it already has the ghost town. 5) Run the 4D theatre, I don't know if it did this year, either Halloween themed or not, I'd like to see it run to just soak up crowds. 6) Keep a stunt type show in the HSD arena and in the show stage have a Bill & Ted (Universal) or The Hanging (Knotts Berry Farm) Horror/Comedy type show, while still having smaller shows in mainstreet and have big ending type show like the chainsaw's at Universal. 7) Have the park add at least one or two more mazes and stop putting one in the Scooby queue and let the ride with its full queue since the night gets so busy. I've always thought Infinfity could fit amaze in if they took out the games for the month. If they did these things, I'd be happy to pay more and have more people, I know that still wouldn't help overcrowding or lines, but what a heck of a night if they did all of the above. You've got to remember over Universal and Knotts, I've seen reviews of mazes getting lines of an easy 2 hours, and I presume lines for rides aren't short either. You've just got to realise when you got the events be prepared to be patient and waiting in queues as part of the experience

What will replace Looney Tunes River Ride?
Original replied to WED99's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The only place I'd like to see a kid friendly Halloween is SW and dress it up like Disney does. -
While I champion the return of a theme park to Sydney, I'd like to see one return under a different name! Wonderland has been dead and gone for a very long time now. Some people may disagree with me, but I feel like people will forever compare this park IF it gets off the ground to the old one; and if they feel its not as good it could blow up in their faces in a very bad way. While, I never visited the park, there's a lot of people out there who some to have very fond memories of the place and have a lot of nostalgia for it. I get now leveraging off the Wonderland name is a great marketing tool and to get exposure, I just feel its a dangerous line to walk come opening day.

Disney Kingdom Resort for Australia (brainstorming)
Original replied to omega237's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I'd like to see Disney here as well, who wouldn't? My gut feeling is if Disney did ever decide to grace our shores you'll see something like the resort they just built in Hawaii or a Cruise Ship. As everyone else says on these boards time and time again we just don't have the population to support one here. To get international tourists they would need to build attractions unique to our park as why would they leave their home park for a smaller copy cat and new attractions will cost a fortune because we know Disney doesn't cheap out! Like AlexB said this is probably more realistic and I would love to see a Universal in Australia, however, I'd also like to see different themes in Australia other than movie, we're a small country, how many movie themed parks can we have. Also, while Universal's rides don't cost as much Disney's correct me if I'm wrong they still don't come in at $15million our parks like to spend, I can't imagine HP, Transformers or The Hulk were this cheap! With Disney now owning the rights to Marvel movies and I'm guessing rides? Since their rumours of an Iron Man ride, I doubt we'll be seeing anymore Marvel themed rides (If Disney now also have the attraction rights) at Universal, period. Not unless the 2 somehow decide to co-exist sharing Marvel rides at the 2 parks and Universal is prepared what Disney is asking for the license. We also have a Halloween nights in Australia now at MW, I know its a smaller event than the US, but remember if Universal came here they would only bring a smaller version of Halloween here as well! Anyway since this is a thread about dreaming what we'd like to see, I'd love to Disney to recreate a DisneySea theme park here -
Thanks for the info, I guessed with the age of WnWGC's wave pool I assumed it would use compressed air, because the other methods, well at least the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon seems like it is a newer method. I thought maybe WWW might use a different system since they claim their waves can be surfed. Does anyone know what system WnWS will use? Another question, while they holes at the back of the pool look pretty freaky, who else thinks that? How safe are the systems, and is one safer than the other?
-
I'm very sceptical of this since after what happened with Fright Nights and there is no link on WnWS Facebook page but there is a twitter account @wetnwildsydney that says it is official Twitter profile.

I really didn't want to start a new thread for this, so I realise I am bumping an old one a REALLY old one, but obviously the park is still closed and still nothing has happened with the park. I've just been wondering if the park were to sell off the rides if we could pick up Led Zepplin/Time Machine. I've read reviews that said it was in the middle, wasn't great, but wasn't bad either and thought this could be Australia's chance to pick a new massive coaster and a B&M a cheap price. Now I would be thinking with how old this ride in a closed park it would be in bad shape, but its still looking really good, even the paint hasn't faded that much. There's some other good photos a dead, deescalate and weed overgrown park. It has a really eery feeling to it IMO, but the entrance really did look nicely done. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=47373&start=2620 It sure is a photogenic coaster, the only problem is its not for sale, an article recently states lights have been turned on around it but they claim its for preventative maintenance. With the condition the ride is sitting in, and the park, I don't know whether they hold out hope for it to reopen, or are keeping rides in their condition to sell them to make some of the money they lost. Thoughts?

I was thinking the other day, how exactly does a wave pool work? I did some searching and found out the basics which I sort of understand, I have to say those massive holes at the back really unsettle me, as much as I love wave pools. It appears as though there are 2 different systems, an older system using compressed air and a system Disney uses at Typhoon Lagoon where they fill tanks with water at the back of the pool and then a trap door opens to let all the water out. I was just curious as to what system WnWGC uses compared to WWW and what we will see at WnWS, or if anyone could provide more insight on the systems? I sort of understand the basics but don't completely understand how they work yet.

Doomsday - Potential New Tower Ride at Movie World
Original replied to Gary86's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Isn't Wonderwoman and Cyborg both in JL? I think 2 superheroes they could include is Hawk Girl and The Flash, but I don't think Flash fits this ride. See AlexB to your second and third point, I don't mind it going into the helix of SE because I'd like to see another flat ride built into the old LW cinema building and use the old queue outside and with a new eatery and maybe toilets in that area would bring a lot of people to the area, especially when they finish whatever they were doing with China Town Alley. Yes I think the WW needs attention first, but I won't stop them for putting more rides in -
Doomsday - Potential New Tower Ride at Movie World
Original replied to Gary86's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I personally think this looks really cool. I think it will be a great addition to the park. I'm yet to do GD because I just can't get over the free fall from that height, yet I've always wanted to get to the top to see the view and I think many people are in the same boat as me. However, I will probably take on the less thrilling mode because if on thrill mode it spins too much then I'm out, I'm really horrible at anything that spins quickly. I wonder if they can spin a few of the gondolas faster, while having one spin more gently. I'm also intrigued as to how they have the ride rise to the top quickly, compared to fast it will on the slow version. I'd prefer they both just go up at the same time. We have all said MW would be great if it added some more well themed flat rides and that space at SE would be perfect and it seems like someone at MW has listened and they've gone all out. Surely the public can realise one (GD) is a drop tower, one is a launch tower (Batwing), and one is a sought of observation/spinning tower. This will make huge impact on the skyline and really affirm to the general public that in terms of rides, MW is the place to go to. I'd really like to see them add something like a Vekoma MadHouse in the old LW cinema and an eatery in the LW gift shop, it would really finish that whole area off nicely. Yes I agree there are other areas of the park that need some attention badly such as the WW area with a new show and ride and the LT area and new ride but aren't we already a getting a new replacement for that building? I'm just glad the park is again looking at new attractions, its more than what can be said about what's happening down the road. I also agree on the footprint it does look like it could be really hard to fit in that area. I'd also like to see a different theme, I didn't even realise it was a comic and most people won't. The name makes it sound IMO more thrilling than what it is, and could get people's noses out of joint, much like how MDMC is on the thrill ride list. I'd prefer to see something like Lex Luthor and the ride queue and outside exterior themed to 'The Daily Planet', but that's just my opinion. -
2Day FM announced it on their Instagram and Facebook pages and are giving free tickets away. Really no different to what the Brisbane and Gold Coast radio stations do.
-
Yep, completely unrealistic.... But it would be cool to see it happen Just adding to that, considering it just went through a major rehab in which people on here in the know said maintenance told management it would be more cost effective to scrap the ride than fix it, yet they went ahead to make sure it could live on... So unless something major happened to it that was unfixable I think it will live on for some time yet. As a side note, this is the difference between VRTP and Ardent.
