  1. Well that’s the other thing we’re talking peoples accounts. I’d assume the ride would record every button that is pressed and when. Almost like a black box for eingineer to go back and see what an op has pushed or for a situation like this. And if there was another button that wasn’t pushed you’d think the DW lawyer would have today brought that up with the ride op when questioning him as to why he didn’t push it.
  2. Well looks like DW are trying to throw the ride op under the bus by insinuating it’s his fault he didn’t get to the second E-Stop in time. What everyone seems to be missing in this is, except for people here is where that button is located. Not at the unload area, but at the top of the lift. Which make DW look better that they had the system in place and incompetent ride op didn’t press. With 2 people trying to run a ride like that, getting to that button Is argue can’t happen, between loading and unloading and watching ride conditions. Walking over to press that button and have the conveyer shut down would take about as much as the 8sec button on the control panel. Even if they were running to it, which I would guess wouldn’t be easy with all that water the catwalk would be slippery. what should be being asked is why wasn’t such a button placed on both the main control panel and unload panel so either op could notice something and immediately shut it down. Rather than navigate all the way over to where it is placed now.
  3. ^ You’re not too far off. Have the Corckscrew white with the old trains and I’m right there with you!
  4. So it will open the day after Boxing Day? One of the busiest days of the year for the parks!
  5. I'd be inclined to think this will be good value for the park. People will use these photos on social media, giving the park good word of mouth and hopefully bolstering sales. The cost of giving the away the photos for free might be offset by the marketing bonus they get from them.
  6. ^ What happens when managers suck the life out of those people though? They become just like everyone else working there. And missing/damaged theming and effects that havent been replaced or touched in months is not a small thing in my mind at all that adds up with bad customers service. All round there is the feeling of being sub par and no one caring. I'm sure some there really do want to see it at its best. It's just right now the negatives outweigh the positives.
  7. Yep, I don't think there needs to be an argument on what the parks missing, because it's missing most essential things when it comes to rides. It doesn't have a big, thrilling coaster, it needs a proper family ride for all ages and, yeah it's missing it's flume ride. I think Joz put it perfectly. For me, the 2 most important things to the park are the dolphins and the Ski Show as its heritage and the lake is the first thing you see when you walk in. Bring the standard up of the Dolphin, reimagine a ski show for 2018.
  8. I think that's why most people are disillusioned with the park these days and angry with how it is being run and managed. Back in the day SW was the MAIN park in VTP stable and the MAIN competitor to DW. Now through years of neglect and not spending/maintaining it is just as you call it an 'add on' and it's disappointing* that it was allowed to arrive in such a state. And calling it disappointing is being generous.
  9. 6 staff on Rivals also sounds to me like attempting to run at full capacity. how many staff normally run Rivals with 2 trains compared to that of just one.
  10. That’s an average for Sunrise across the whole 3 hours of whose watching. The number of people who actually tune in (the culminative audience) is much, much higher. So crosses like that still work as exposure to the audience, although Australians (I hope) already know who LT are and where to find them on the coast.
  11. You’re both right because 7 & 9 now share the one chopper, as they do in Sydney, Melbourne and most cities.
  12. My guess is that this is DC going down for its first check, just to make sure all the components are wearing in as they should. Every brand new ride does this not long after opening. And correct me if I’m wrong I don’t believe DC has done this yet?! Which is a lot later than it normally would. I’m guessing it will have it’s big maintenance period where we’ll see it closed for about a month sometime in November, after Fright Nights and just before the big holiday crowds hit it.
  13. Thanks @MickeyD for that explanation. Thought that would be case since I know they keep an operator there for that reason. I do hope nothing major in the ride changes for the worse because to protect themselves from a worse case scenario that some idiot can't follow rules, forgets this is a piece of machinery and gets hurt. I'm remaining hopeful the ride is getting another overhaul and theming enhancements.
  14. Why would you think it could be seen as an area of concern?
  15. Let’s not forget until a few years ago WnW traded until 9pm in summer with Dive In Movies and back in the 90’s SW did have a night show in the lake. I think Joz has more info on that I was very young to remember it but involved the SW chopper and giant dragon breathing fire.
  16. You mean Joz rationally explaining to you the water in the penguin exhibit was too cold wasn’t sensible?! Because a sensible person would normally figure that out on their own considering it looks like one big coolroom with ice.
  17. Because the bigger the company the longer it takes for the left hand to talk to the right hand. Also these companies are fiercely (and rightly so) about protecting their brand so there will be a lot of back and forth before a final design is settled upon. Then you’ve got the job of looking for a contractor to come in and build it all, again the WB specs.
  18. I don’t think the argument is so much if it’s a good addition or well themed, but rather in a bad location. It could easily be an outdoor attraction, instead a perfectly good soundstage goes wasted for a great dark ride.
  19. You seem to have a long way to go in learning how big companies work and the intricacies of getting IP licenses signed off on. You don’t just send a Snapchat and get instant approval.
  20. The media at the time kept writing stories too about how those 2 hated working here.
  21. ^ Agreed and while we’re at it a station over by Jet Rescue to stop at the rides, especially since the land mass is bigger there now.
  22. As everyone has said it’s impossible to give lockers to everyone in the park or make them cheap, because again their won’t be enough. I don’t understand why that’s so hard to get. You have 2 options, get a locker. Or take the bare minimum and leave it on a chair in a backpack. Even the parks you love so much, Universal’s Volcano Bay is $10, and Disney’s $9 and with our Aussie dollar that would make them more. Every park does this, it’s universal practice and everyone has accepted this.
  23. Then they should be investing in new trains so capacity is kept the same, not diminished to save a buck. It’s not like this happened all of a sudden and they have to find space in the budget, the trains have been in this state for some time and they would have known their life span was coming to an end.
  24. What I like about this interview is it gives me a John Menzies era vibe. Passionate people who care about the parks and the people who visit them. They know keeping guests happy keeps them spending and coming back.
  25. Again another great improvement, this ad looks great and makes you excited about the parks. I can see people’s faces on the rides, but the scale of the rides, just how big DC Rivals is and love the tag of saying the best roller coaster.
