  1. Aussie World wooden mouse. Real shame it was removed.
  2. Meanwhile I'm reading all manner of fun commentary on Movie World operations from people on the ECC trip It's a few years since I was there, but I remember getting really annoyed by how Green Lantern dispatches suddenly accelerated to German fair speeds after the queue was closed for the day.
  3. Yeah, that's a new one. There's something very like it touring in Europe called Sharky and the Pirates, but that's different.
  4. Speaking in extreme generalities here – water slides tend to be more or less the same experience wherever you happen to be, whereas coasters are much more likely to be unique layouts or have different theming. I challenge anyone out there to say one ProSlide Tornado is a materially different experience to another ProSlide Tornado. I enjoy water parks but I very rarely bother with them. If I want the water park experience, I can go to an indoor one close to where I live; I don't need to travel half way across the world for that.
  5. Do you have a link to the news broadcast? Found it. https://7plus.com.au/seven-news-perth?episode-id=7NNP23-015&autoplay=true Starts about 28:40.
  6. The ECC has members of all ages – including quite a few in their seventies. For the Australia tour the demographic is skewed a bit towards our older members, given that younger people can't generally afford to drop $10K AUD on a coaster trip, no matter how much that they'd like to
  7. Presumably you've got plans to visit Murmansk for the most northerly coaster too?
  8. I've flagged it to the team. People are landing into Perth that day after the 17 hour flight from London, so whether there'll be appetite for late night coaster riding I dunno, but I'll suggest it :-)
  9. The ECC is doing an 6pm flight after the day in Adventure World. It lands into Melbourne just before midnight.
  10. I've previously been told "no" to the last ride of the night at a park in Europe, despite there being several empty seats on the dispatch in front of me – because I joined the queue precisely at close time.
  11. That'll teach them for next time! Just my €0.02....
  12. I'm late to this thread – but I'd just like to say that from my perspective the best coasters in the world right now are made by Vekoma. I'm salivating at the thought of one park getting three at the same time. Like it or not, B&M make reliable crowd pleasers. They rarely push the envelope. The new Vekoma stuff is fantastic. F.L.Y. is an extreme example, but even stuff like Lech Coaster and Formula demonstrate that they're the ones leading the way right now.
  13. I managed a successful four and a half week US trip in August – and more or less everything was open – but I've a feeling we're heading back into a difficult place again now.
  14. I had in my head that you could fly straight from Australia to New York, but I guess that was one of those experimental Project Sunrise flights. Just a few more random points on this thread: - I agree with@Gazzathat I'd pick Hersheypark over Kennywood if I only had time for one, but I'd do everything in my power to make time for the other. - Skipping over Knoebels is a sin. That park is a joy, and arguably one of the nicest environments in North America. The two wood coasters are phenomenal and the atmosphere is in a league of its own. - If you're taking a domestic flight cross-country I'd personally suggest flying into EWR (Newark) and going to Six Flags Great Adventure instead of Coney Island. Driving in New York is expensive and a pain in the ass, and the coasters and rides at the Six Flags park are vastly better. - VelociCoaster at Universal Florida is the best coaster I've ridden in years. If you're even remotely close to there I'd recommend making the effort.
  15. There is so much to do and see in the US. California and Florida are a long way apart and you’ll miss an awful lot of things in the middle.
  16. Speaking as someone who's just finished an 11,350 mile trip around the United States.... ...trying to do Florida and California in the same trip is nuts, even if you're flying from Australia. I'd strongly recommend focusing on a smaller area. Not that I would, of course
  17. Update – I've just watched it. It's worth paying for.
  18. Hell no. The wooden wild mouse is an absolute treasure and one of the last rides of its type anywhere in the world. Removing it would be sacrilege. I think you might have ridden Arkham a few too many times if you thought it was totally rideable and enjoyable
  19. As a data point, a short video I made last year cost me almost €400. Not that I mind, though – it was a fun project, especially since I got to have a go in a real DeLorean
