Eureka Mountain Mine Ride reopening discussion
Noxegon replied to rappa's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Not any more. Shows April 17th now. -
Ugh. That's obvioudky wrong, and a victim of the editing process. I'll fix it tonight.

Okay, disregard the above – I used a Scooby Doo shot instead. Movie World is done: http://www.bannister.org/coasters/trips/2015/0216.htm

Does anyone have a good close-up of the front of the train on Arkham Asylum (or indeed any seats/restraints) that I can use in my trip report?

Terrain layout on the hill between the water slides and race track? Or relocate the pirate ship somewhere else and use that area? -

Er, how do you figure that one exactly? -

I've not ridden Python Loop, but if it's anything like the other ZL42s it is well beneath a park of the calibre of Adventure World. I love the idea of Australia's first B&M... -
Is this Parkz or TPR?

Accident during Stunt Driver show at Movieworld
Noxegon replied to Theme Park Girl's topic in Theme Park Discussion
FWIW, I always thought this show was pretty poor. There's a fantastic car show at Mirabilandia that other parks would do well to learn from. -
The world does NOT need more Vekoma SLCs.

Giant Drop at Dreamworld is my favourite. There are a few honourable mentions though -- Scream at Heide; Fritt Fall at Grona Lund; Lex Luthor at Tragic Mountain; Blue Fall at Hakkejima Sea Paradise.

Adventure World 2015 - 'Mi2' Kraken Tornado slide
Noxegon replied to Tim Dasco's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Don't think you'd get that for $6m. Mammoth was $9m USD. http://www.holidayworld.com/holiblog/2012/05/18/mammoth-fact-sheet/ -
Adventure World 2015 - 'Mi2' Kraken Tornado slide

I really love the way Mark is contributing information like this to the enthusiast community. You won't get the world's longest and steepest coaster for $6m. Simply has to be a slide of some description... ...though I'm now giggling at the idea that this is all a build up for something silly like the world's longest/steepest escalator. The current record is 135 metres in Hong Kong; could Adventure World be about to out-do this? -
Buzz Saw Harness Does Exactly What It's Supposed to Do

The one at Magic Springs has belts attached to the lap bars. They hold the lap bar in place rather than touch the rider. -
Try to catch up :-) http://www.bannister.org/coasters/parks/sp_bigapples.htm

I'd completely forgotten that this is not in fact the first major incident on an El Loco. http://www.asahi.com/articles/ASG3M7R69G3MULOB02K.html Before anyone asks, Sansei Yusoki is part of S&S.
-
Yeah, I was toying with the idea of leaving those two as Lethal Weapon but decided that'd be too confusing.

I'm going to respectfully disagree with you on Justice League – I thought it was excellent – but you do have a point about the number of rides in the park. IMHO Warner is only a full day park because the operations are so poor – if the rides were run properly you could do everything and a few repeats in a couple of hours. That's an interesting thought. It's worth calling out that the Steel Dragon 2000 accident, which was fairly similar, occurred on a train subject to a lot more stress than the rest of the coasters of that type. Hopefully the root cause of this event will be published. I can only assume that Robb hadn't read much about the accident at the time he was quoted. Coasters wheels do fail quite regularly, but they don't generally end up on the ground next to the ride. This.

I've just posted my Warner Bros photos: http://www.themeparks.ie/australia/warner/index.htm

I was under the impression that the Scenic injured twenty people every time it dispatched
-
There are photographs linked earlier in this thread that show a wheel on the ground.
-
Very true. However, there are places where this is supposed to happen, namely the block brakes. That's why many coasters have evacuation stairs and platforms at these locations. Actually, this is an enormous deal. This failure dropped ride parts on the ground and caused the car to stop and tilt sideways in an unintended location. Earlier in this thread someone mentioned QF32; that's a good comparison to this incident, where a major failure had the potential to end very badly. Only good luck (and in the case of Qantas considerable skill) prevented that. It wouldn't surprise me at this point if all El Locos worldwide were shut down until they figure out what happened to this one.
-
Small. There were probably about twenty people in the park the last time I was there.
-
Ouch. Coaster wheels do delaminate quite regularly, but they're not supposed to break away from the car. The last time I can think of that happening was on Steel Dragon 2000 -- and that ride was closed for years. I really hope they get to the bottom of what happened here and quickly; I thought Green Lantern was a fantastic ride. It was/is significantly smoother than most of the other El Locos and the soundtrack is great.
