  1. Why not Sea Cork Viper Screw? Although any name that has "screw" in it can become more interesting quite quickly.
  2. Poor comparison given the fact that a number of times a game has appeared on Steam for the $60 then suddenly jumped to $100 over night. Also comparing video game pricing to the price of a ride just doesn't work as you can't import a coaster from overseas through Amazon or another seller at a cheaper price than locally so our parks only really have one channel to go through to get a ride, the manufacturer.
  3. Looking at those last two photos it must have been a really dark day when they visited the park! Will say it is going to be weird next time I visit not seeing Cork Viper there.
  4. It is going to be a kids ride in a kids area of the park. Why are we surprised at this fact? Sure it may not cover the same audience as what LTRR did but it fits the area and the age group the area is aimed at. I would however have a problem with this attraction if it was a thrill ride in an area dominated by rides and attractions aimed at younger audience.
  5. This just in, vintage cars which are modelled after real cars can actually perform like a real car when not on a guide rail.
  6. Not all thrill rides are horrible, Wipeout, Claw and Drop are examples of some of the best thrill rides you can find in the world. As far as coasters go our parks can't simply throw US$20+ million on a coaster and get the same return as a park in the US would. Look at what Six Flags did prior to bankruptcy as a fine example of what would happen if our parks were to do this sort of spending on a regular basis. Coasters? Well we may not have the best in the world but look at Superman and Scooby, these are two examples of world class coasters and prove you don't have to spend a large amount to get something decent. I would love to see something like Banshee or Gatekeeper over here but you have to look at it from the parks view, will it get the same return spending the US$20+ million as it would spending much less on something like a RMC wood/steel hybrid. Our parks are aimed at a much smaller audience than what the US parks are and what they add is based on this. Very few people will travel to the Gold Coast for the theme parks, especially from overseas. They are usually here for other reasons and the parks are a small part of why they are in Australia to begin with. We are known for beaches, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Opera House, kangaroos and koalas and not theme parks as far as overseas tourists are concerned.
  7. You do have the alternative of Steve Irwin Way then through Caboolture to go back on the M1 around Morayfield. Went this way last time I headed back from the Sunshine Coast on a public holiday.
  8. You will get 2015 access however to get the following Gold pass benefits you must validate the pass in park before November 2, 2014. Season Parking at every Six Flags theme park VIP early entry to Six Flags Magic Mountain VIP early entry to Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Extra Bring-A-Friend Free ticket on select days
  9. They should have placed it where the infamous gate is. With the gate still closed of course.
  10. Interesting line up, seems some parks only got things (loopers) to make it seem like they have got something and not left out. Looking forward to riding Twisted Colossus next year. The Justice League rides sure do look familiar only with what I feel is a slightly more stronger storyline. Also have a feeling Six Flags will market them properly unlike ours.
  11. I'd be careful making posts with mistakes like that else you may end up with a warning I gave the first the benefit of the doubt but just couldn't get into it. Correct me if I am wrong (which I am sure someone would have done anyway) but it is also a TV series right? If so having not seen that or being a fan of it I guess there would be things missing that I wouldn't get.
  12. Abusive behaviour by you? Can't see that happening
  13. Will be honest and say I have no idea why I am the only user with a warning point field. All I know is at one point the forums were updated and I somehow ended up with one. As for the why I have points, you think that is bad you don't want to be around me at work! Getting back on topic after seeing the first movie and not getting the big deal over it even with the inclusion of local parks and attractions I don't think I will be seeing the second one.
  14. I'm sure there is a good chance of something that is a splash plant which is wet "n wide on the Gold Coast, it isn't cheap but I hear if you pay a bit more you'll also a couple of others thrown in
  15. For those wondering how it worked you would queue as per normal until you reached the black/white wall room or the end of the narrow section after (near the base of the stairs). The queue would end and you would be grouped and board the elevators, go up to what is now the purple room where you would exit the elevators and a short wait to board the ride. The stairs have basically removed the need for an additional operator for the elevator and two elevators to maintain.
  16. As reanimated said it is due to it not being confirmed as a maze and just because it was used as one the previous years you can't just assume it will be used again as one this year. Also it is a show stage, somewhat sure when people do things around shows they make sets and those sets are made from, wait for it... wood! Whilst it is highly likely it will be used for a maze again due to the enclosed nature of the building nothing will be known for sure until we get closer to the event, as far as we know they could be building a boat!
  17. Based on previous years that is like asking them if they agree that a traffic light is going to go green after being red. There is an extremely small chance it won't happen.
  18. I'll be driving past today, I won't be taking any photos! Also did the fact you are going there tomorrow have to result in two posts in two topics advertising your Facebook page? I know if I was running a page or more I wouldn't be advertising it here to gain interest and traffic. All I will say is good luck, but I think you should take up the offer in Slicks signature, might have more luck gaining attention with a page name like that! Getting back on topic I was at the park last Sunday rode the Wipeout and will say whilst the ride cycle is somewhat shorter I prefer it due to it more varied elements it has. Really like the diagonal lock and flip over the random twisting it used to do. Great to see the park putting the time and effort getting a ride back to what it was like opening day. Sure the water down the wave isn't there but the return of the water and fountains show they do care and are possibly even listening to people. I will be the one to ask do they really need more water than what it has? The pool might not be full but it has enough to get the desired look the ride needs. For those going on about the water sitting still, if you look in the middle you will notice an outlet where there is water being pumped into the pool from so the water isn't just sitting still.
  19. Noticed on Sunday that The Claw will now be using the middle queue line for Q4U. Whilst it is good to see the queue line finally used would have been great to see it used like the Wipeout and handle single rider as well.
  20. Am I correct in saying where there is a plane there is a... turbine! Another ride with low capacity. One thing I am not surprised about. Artwork for it looks good but as Reanimated has said be interesting to see just how much the finished product looks like the artwork.
  21. With the Cyclone though there is only so much you could tolerate of that looping video but at least it had a theme and gave a reason for where you were and why. Dreamworld may be argued as a theme park but when they do things like AVPX in Ocean Parade, Motocoaster-town it makes it hard to call the whole park a theme park especially when you have a section with themed lands. Dreamworks is like a theme park in a theme park. I also agree that the queue line sets the story for the ride and it is a must if you are going to theme attractions make sure said theme fits the area of the park and don't create a "themed" area just so it fits in. There is no reason Ocean Parade can't have all attractions that match the theme, there is more to the ocean than the beach, the zombie laser tag is a step in the right direction but a shipping port over-run by pirates could work as easily as just one example of what can be done with existing attractions. There is lots of room for improvement but it requires people and management who care about it enough to look at how it is all now and go about fixing what needs to be fixed providing they can secure the required funds to do so properly, no point doing it half-arsed or it will just end up where we are now.
  22. With the ride in testing adding the water would be the last thing they would be doing, easier and safer to access all parts of the ride when the pool is empty compared to having to deal with water. It also makes no sense to fill it only to possibly for some unforeseen reason have to drain it again.
  23. There was a reason why they got rid of the shark from the Wipeout
  24. Seriously? I expected rides to be expensive but that is just crazy! Reminded again why it has been years since I have been to the Royal Queensland Show (Sorry, but the term "EKKA" is a strange and odd one, guess "exhibition" is too big of a word for the locals to pronounce).
  25. Because when you are paying around $10 to experience each spin and spew you appreciate it more!
