  1. I cannot afford.both :-( and its true. I ended up going with dw passes this year... Now, there has been more erections outside moviewprld recently ?
  2. If I was a parent the decision would be easy for me. VRTP all the way. The new ride my kids are to small to ride. The coaster out front will.be the same story. They.stripped nickelodeon theming for generic and no.official announcement of replacement. VRTP have the WB gang and Sesame Street friends. Not to mention the great family movies at wet n wild once the weather heats up. That's if I was a parent...
  3. Does mw need a facebook page with 300000 fans ? Nope... They are probably worried about teenagers who have no other connection to thr park other than thr annual pass their mummy bought them for good grades, speakibg for them and acting like they are the voice of the park. Once those kids grow tired of playing thr facebook like game, mw might think about ramping up its socail network presence. Further, VRTP knows its sitting on quality. It does not need to rely on a facebook campaign because its planned poorly for the future Dreamworld know they can't match VRTP's 2011 offerings so its banking on a bigger fbook presence. Movieworld know that once they release details about the new ride they won't need to bank on 300000 fans .
  4. Did you know.Disneyworld has its own fire station? So if a fire takes.hold they take care of it in house.and don't call an actual outside fire department. I thought that was interesting
  5. Yep csp, bit late on that one, but first to post it here I think. Buzzsaw, shockwave; 2 new rides Add dreamworks And there's your suprise. Movieworld come on Show your hand What's in store for Superhero land ? And over at seaworld, Where's the love? Bermuda 2: Ghosts from above I'm wet, I'm wild I'm seeing a flick White water world What's your next trick ? End of poem.
  6. So for those in the "know". Are we looking at another superhero ride or perhaps a Batman.villian ? If its another Batman themed ride I really think they should look at retheming that whole area of the.park to a superhero type.metropolis.gotham city type deal.
  7. That's my point ads... Surely they dont need firefighters for all evacs
  8. Yes I was aware of Norway... we live in a horrible world... Another question - Do firefighters have to evac people from Cali Screamin'? Surely the ride ops would be trained to do it..
  9. http://www.news.com.au/world/firefighters-rescue-23-after-dropped-bag-brings-disneyland-ride-to-a-screamin-halt/story-e6frfkyi-1226100346214 Must be a slow news day... So you can take lose articles on California Screamin'?
  10. Agree Gazza. This paragraph of the release got me excited. "Unexplainable occurrences recounted by staff working in the area and historic research dating back to the late 1800s have inspired the rides theme and will have guests wondering where fact ends and fiction begins." This makes me think that they might do some sort of theming. Granted, the theming may be a sign held up with bandaids and a ride op wearing a white sheet as a "spooky miner" but I'm willing to give Dreamworld the benefit of the doubt. (Annual Pass don't fail me now!)
  11. Richard and other admin staff are being kept up to date with the amazing process made so far If Richard decides he does not want me to continue, then I'm sure he will exercise his right to (and fair enough) but I have had nothing but positive feedback so far and admin are happy with the process to date. Nate
  12. Yep, sounds like their will be an attempt at solid theming... That's a welcome sign
  13. Dreamworld Press Release http://about.dreamworld.com.au/Media-Centre/Press-Releases/Press-Release-Pages/July-2011-Dreamworld-Reveals-its-New-Bone-Chilling-Thrill-Ride.aspx meh to big "7" thrill rides... They can't honestly include motocoaster in that...
  14. That's awesome for them, but this thread is for discussing Official Parkz Events. As I said, negotiations for Parkz events are on-going and things are looking very exciting. Nate
  15. Hi Everyone, As most of you would be aware I have recently been in negotiations with our local Gold Coast parks in regards to organising official Parkz events with the perks you would usually see on a "TPR" style event. I am happy to announce that these negotiations have made some good headway and while details cannot be given yet, a "Behind the Parkz" event is currently in the works. This event would be an official event held in conjunction with the Theme Park. This official event should not stop you from organising informal meet ups at the Parks, but I am asking that any official contact with the Parks go through the Leadership team or myself, as I have already begun this process. I am wary of the parks receiving contact from many different people trying to organise a Parkz event. Please know that an Official Parkz event is being negotiated and any further contact from Parkz members with the Theme Parks would delay and muddy the negotiations already taken place. Thanks for your help. Nate (Just adding: The Parks do read these forums, so let's keep this thread positive. If you have a wish-list of things you would like to do at a Parkz Event - here's the place to post)
  16. So, as you would be aware recently I decided to purchase the Dreamworld annual pass for 2011/2012 and it was with a lot of excitement that we ventured to Dreamworld today for our first visit in many years. I don't think we could have picked a better day to go to Dreamworld. The weather was terribly cold and the lines were short just about everywhere. We were greeted at the front gates by a very enthusiastic girl who pointed us in the right direction for our passes. We decided not to get our annual pass cards until later in the day. 10/10 First to ride, Tower of Terror II . We were first on this ride upon opening and were treated to two shots up the tower. Going backwards on TOT really changes the feel of the ride. The tunnel lighting and sound effects were well done, and all up I think reverse is better. (0 min wait) 8/10 Motocoaster was next. It was fairly disapointing. Even after reading the lackluster reviews about its speed, this ride looks better than what it is. The restraints are uncomfortable, and its simply not thrilling enough to be a thrill ride. Don't judge a book by its cover (5 min wait) 4/10 Giant Drop followed. It is as I remember. (5 min wait) 10/10 We headed into ocean parade and hit The Claw and Wipeout both with no wait times and they havnt changed from last visits. 7/10 and 8/10 respectivly We rode Shockwave and even as a "filler" ride it is boring and not exciting. It was only worth one ride. 3/10 Cyclone was the last of the big 6 and this ride has gotten so rough in the last few years. It's really turned into a head banger and was not enjoyable. (5 min wait ) 3/10 We met up with some friends who were celebrating a small child's birthday so we ended up hitting Big Red Car and the teacups. Big red car is ok and was enjoyed by the Target demo I rode with . Walked down through AWE and fought the tourists to feed a kangaroo and see thr koalas. Took a trip on the vintage cars and headed back to the main food court area near Kid Central. Lunch was a cold hamburger and chips that set two of us back $30. That price is ridiculous and we will not be buying lunch in park anymore. There were 3 food places open today, the pizza shack, the burger place next to it, and the buffet. So in-park options were very limited 3/10 for lunch cost and quality. We watched the "Goldie the clown " show after lunch and the demo loved it. Just a note, Goldie called it the "stupid" clown show about 30 times. The family I was with didn't really like the clowns use of the word and the family in front also commented as we were leaving that they were disapointed with the amount of times it was said. 7/10 We ended up hitting TOTII and motocoaster again. Found some awesomely cheap AFL merchandise in one of the shops and got our passes on the terribly flimsy paper cardboard thing. The new ride looks exciting, and ill try and stay positive about it all until I ride it. All up our visit to Dreamworld was fun and worthwhile. It was the people I went with that made the day fun. Look with a score of 63/100 I'm not going to be heading back simply to jump on the rides. After feeling tonight like I had an amazing day then that's gotta mean something. Im going with dreamworld virgins in a few weeks time, So ill be able to get a perspective from someone who has never been. I can't help but regret the decision to go with Ardent passes, and really feel like I have a better time at VRTP . For me, it becomes an issue of quality over quantity. The VRTP rides and attractions get me going, DW lack of good themed attractions is disapointing. Anyway, like I said ill.be going back in a few weeks time with a new crew, and will get to experience some of the things I didn't today. I'm not writing off these passes just yet Thanks for reading
  17. Gazza, please use your mapping skills to give me a rough footprint of thr new coaster ??
  18. Yes - it is totally plausible that mw would build a ride 100metres outside the park boundary, and then obviously connect this to the park via a series of bridges leading from inside the park to outside the park and back again. I'm all for Movieworld expanding but to claim that they were going to plonk a ride out on the grass - and then to say it was rejected by council because it would cause a distraction on the highway... seriously... And if this was a planned ride for the cancelled motorsport themepark then fair enough.
  19. Dude, to claim they were going to put this coaster nearly 100 metres outside the park boundary makes you look foolish. Regardless of how correct your other info was,you really should have thought it out before posting that. I mean, what kind of reaction did you expect when you posted that completly outlandish rumour as fact ? I just heard wet n wild is joining with the outback spectacular and the outback spectacular will now be shown in the wave pool.
  20. Yea, being only 10 minutes from my home growing up, we were taken out there on school trips etc. Was a fun place and was cool to see those pics on that fbook group.
