Putting Dreamworld's questionable definitions of "theming" and "paying homage to classic attractions" aside, I think we should be thankful that they didn't cease operations of the train altogether. Since the locomotives still had life in them it would be great for them to live on elsewhere, however, I believe Dreamworld would only get rid of them if they could make some money out of it.

It's odd that Boomerang Bay was actually the original tentative name for the wave pool. I was under the same impression. I found an article from July that states the wave pool will be the biggest in Australia and feature surfable waves. Whether that's WhiteWater World quality surfable waves, I don't know.

What will replace Looney Tunes River Ride?
themeparkgc replied to WED99's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Sea World got rid of the Sesame Street theme about two years ago and the area got a generic theme. I think they did a bit of a polish at the time, but nothing too major. Although they did get rid of one ride, they added a frog hopper, so the ride count is equal to 1999. In saying that, both areas could do with some new kids rides by Zamperla, SBF or the like. With the removal of LTRR, could a Mack Twist'n'Splash fill the family water ride void? Maybe a small Wacky Worm-sized coaster could be added to Sea World taking up a small portion of that reclaimed land and the aforementioned former ride location? -
What will replace Looney Tunes River Ride?
themeparkgc replied to WED99's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Nope. The water ride was installed in the 60s and given a Looney Tunes retheme by Sally Corp in 1992: http://sallycorp.com/dark-rides/custom-designed/yosemite-sam-and-the-gold-river-adventure/ As for a Fright Nights maze in the building, I'd be all for it. However, as joz pointed out there are many more suitable temporary locations for mazes. I wouldn't want to see the LTRR building remain empty just so it can be used for Fright Nights. -

Update? That ride opened in 1992, within a year of LTRR opening. The animatronics were both done by Sally and both feature a slow boat ride system. Plus, when we see the inside of the building is like this, I don't think we'll see an update to the old water ride: -

Sea World Storm Coaster construction 2013
themeparkgc replied to alex_1's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Based on the construction photos from earlier in the year, I doubt there will be any extensions to the standard model's track layout. You have the remember the show building now holds a splashdown for a sub-28m drop and the station. The slow winding canal that was Bermuda allowed for tighter turns and thus could fit more in the show building. -

According to the database, some of Superman Escape was fabricated by a local firm too. -
Disney Kingdom Resort for Australia (brainstorming)
themeparkgc replied to omega237's topic in Theme Park Discussion
The original layout was much more like USS than MW. The only similarities I can draw to MW would be that there is a superhero-themed area in the front-left and a kids area on the right. That's it. Using that same level of logic we could say IOA has a layout similar to MW. It's also worth pointing out that the current plans are not for a Marvel theme park, nor a family entertainment centre. Amazingly enough Marvel will actually be one themed area in the IMG Worlds of Adventure theme park. Definitely not proof that Marvel could hold itself as a standalone park. The most plausible plan for Disney and Marvel is that they will integrate Marvel into their existing theme parks (as they are already starting to do with Iron Man and Thor at Disneyland) or create new themed areas in new parks (such as that rumoured for the Disneyland Resort) which cover multiple themes such as Marvel, Star Wars and Avatar. -
Doomsday - Potential New Tower Ride at Movie World
themeparkgc replied to Gary86's topic in Theme Park Discussion
If this is a supersized Intamin Spinning Star minimum area for the ride's footprint would be 21m x 21m, which would just fit inside Superman Escape. However, I'm inclined to think this could even be a new Funtime creation. They have recently reached the 400ft/122m mark with the Texas SkyScreamer and have another one going in next year at SFNE which will probably go a tad taller (maybe 410ft/125m?). Having a local firm with experience in building tall rides of the same/similar tower structure could be a benefit when going with a "world-first" installation. Although the ride experience is obviously similar to a Spinning Star, I can't find an Intamin tower ride (apart from their spaceshots) which features a tower structure of the style shown in the pictures. -
When the whole topic is about Dreamworld's steam trains, it's obvious people have overlooked your tenuous links to a railway line in Melbourne, colliric.

Adventure World New Coaster - Abyss

Looking at the latest pictures from Theme Park Review, it will be an immelmann. I think we are looking at a layout like this: black is current track, red is my prediction for the rest, grey is transfer track. -

According to RCDB, that will actually be a cobra roll. -
In a press conference SFGAm confirmed RMC trains for Goliath. I'm also thinking Medusa would feature the RMC trains because if a company can offer an all in one product (i.e. track, trains etc) for the same or cheaper price, why bother outsourcing it? I think the Gerstlauer trains were an interim measure until RMC had their own trains designed and built.

Also, don't forget this is only a temporary attraction.

Just stumbled upon a casting call for a "tie-in film" to be "screened within the new attraction, briefing guests on the back-story". All sorts of roles involved including a wealthy industrialist, a crackpot doctor, an army commander, a security guard/policeman, as well as good-looking and odd-looking extras.

You're clutching at straws again RWC. The details DazzaMoes posted on the previous page were from Taman Safari Indonesia which opened two scare attractions under the "Kevil Hill" banner in 2011. A quick Google search reveals a design firm who has worked with Sudden Impact several times, including a 2011 project in Indonesia. Also, the font used for Kevil Hill matches that on Dreamworld's Evilution page:

I agree with Keegs in that a full season would probably run from September through to April. One thing I noticed on the ticketing page was this: Nickelodeon/SpongeBob themed children's area?
