Old saying goes "You don't get a second chance at a first impression". MW once dominated the GC Parks in Customer Service. It was something that myself along with thousands of others who took great pride in during it's early years. From what I can tell, things really started going downhill in the last 10 years, now that all of the original Bosses have finally called it a day. @Brad2912 I am a little shocked to hear that you have never known MW to be a place noteworthy of Service? As is the case with most Theme Parks globally - One Entry and One Exit. That's where a Park makes it's first and last impression. If they want to fix this problem you have to start somewhere, so start with the Front Gate and work forward from there..

Hmmm.. not sure of the words 'Lawyer' and 'Great' belonging in the same two sentences. ..

A bit of a Nerd story; back in the 'Olden days' of WWF, MW created an in-house system of upturned aluminum frames that were placed along the channel out the back of the ride. . In case you don't believe me, maybe take a look back on this site and old footage?. No shit, the idea actually worked and created a bit of a 'bubble' effect that raised the water level and kept the boats buoyant throughout. . For many years it worked flawlessly and uninterrupted. That is, until some stupid Lawyer dreamed up a "better" idea of a Person actually getting hurt while riding

Hey @pushbutton this one is for you

DW seems to be running with the attraction name as "i-ride". A bit like calling JL "Sally Dark Ride" or Green Lantern "El Loco"... It means nothing to the Lamen. I hope their marketing department is smarter than this because it is a huge investment for DW and a big change in direction for the Park. Most People have no idea what to expect when they experience this kind of attraction, but when they do they are absolutely blown away by it. It's difficult to convey on any medium just how good it is except maybe word of mouth/experiencing for yourself.

Rocky Mouldy Slug ride?

I mentioned this in a customer feedback survey recently.. pretty shithouse really. As far as I am aware there is only 1 bubbler that is adjacent to the Ladies room in the Castaway area. It is just a bubbler- no chiller or filter and the water that comes out of it tastes pretty unpleasant. Not a particularly rewarding discovery being right at the back of the Park!

Hey @pin142 I take it you are suggesting that extra sand is coming from the dredging work taking place in the lagoon next to Dockside? Judging by the colour of the sand mound in the second picture I'd say you are correct. You can also see what looks like dredging pipes running from COTD Lighthouse area across the Lake in front of the Whale. That is a huge pile of sand they have pulled from the lagoon, so perhaps all this is just SW making more room (depth) for their life-long Residents?

Visited SW for a couple of hours today. It is always a lovely place to take a stroll and enjoy the Day with the Animals and Environment, if not anything else. Being so close to where I live, if anything else SW is a spectacular Parkland and I am glad it's still there, despite seeing better days. Some potentially exciting news; it seems progress is finally being made on the reclaimed area beside the old Corkscrew/Pirate Ship site and around the old Lighthouse where some dredging work continues. Ray Reef remains closed. My guess is Village Lawyers found a risk and won't reopen until deemed safe. Wtf Pfff.. Shark Bay is getting some TLC and Storm looks to be getting some serious work too.. tick! A few pics from my phone..

What 10 Rides Do You Think Will Permanently Close First?
MickeyD replied to themeparkaddict's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I must be biased but I don't find AA painful to ride. Sure, it shakes and shudders but at no stage (at least to me anyway) jolts or jars you the way that HWSW does. The only discomfort I get from AA is the tightness of the restraints after hitting the 1st brake. When the Car hits the bottom of the loop on HWSW it is one of the most painful moments of any rollercoaster operating today. It also has a couple of turns that are reminiscent of the neck-busting days of the Thunderbolt. I agree that AA is the next major MW ride to go but would give it at least another 5 years. Another Kumback train should be on the cards if they want to keep it around as long as possible. HWSW on the other hand is a shit ride and hurts! A ride that can and does inflict pain and minor injuries has no place in any Park and especially not DW. It needs to go yesterday. -
What 10 Rides Do You Think Will Permanently Close First?
MickeyD replied to themeparkaddict's topic in Theme Park Discussion
WWF is one of the single most expensive rides ever built in Australia, originally costing around 20 million. It's still a great ride and offers important balance to a Park that is too thrill heavy and too few Family friendly rides and attractions. It is also the most aesthetically spectacular looking ride across all Parks. If WWF gets the same kind of love that we hope for Scooby-doo one day, then we can expect it to hang around for a very, very long time. If anything, get rid of that pathetic excuse for a Flume ride at DW. Surprised nobody mentioned that one. -
Wow thanks @Levithian some of my dear old MW work Pals are featured in this video. I would love to pass this on to some that probably had all but forgotten about it! The AV Tech featured 'Mark' always just as excitable in real life.. A top bloke. P.S. How good does Scooby-Doo look?!? The Loading area and Main Laser room looked (as ol' mate JM used to always say) FANTASTIC!! .. and to the young Cynic out there, the ride really did look that good.. true story

Hey @joz I'm just about to hop into my alter-universe transportation bubble and pop down to the Bottlo to pick up a pack of the hangover-less stuff.. While I'm there, can I get you anything to congratulate you on the new SW GM role? Top shelf buddy, take your pick!??

In other news.. The Oxford Dictionary is preparing to remove the word ‘gullible’ from its next edition after a committee agreed that the term may cause offence to some people. In an effort to ‘clean up’ the Oxford Dictionary, the word ‘gullible’ will no longer be defined within its pages. The committee hopes this will cause the word to die out.

For sure there is a fine line and you don't want to be over the top. - not acknowledging people is the common theme throughout and not just a first impression. Frankly I feel for those in the minority that are doing their jobs right because clearly good service is going unreckognised.
-
Most have found that it wasn't so much me nitpicking, more that a total lack of good Service can allow for the mind to wonder. Suddenly all those 'insignificant' little things become glaringly obvious. Ironically, as @AlexB and others have found, DW Staff engage with their Customer and show pride in their Park. I am sure the wages across the Parks are similar yet only 1 doesn't charge for a smile. To anyone who thinks Service is unimportant in a Theme Park, (or any business where there is a Customer) you are obviously too young, too stupid or too self-absorbed to know better. In case MW Management are reading, the picture below is for you.

A lot of years have passed since last time I celebrated Mothers Day, so today my Partner and I decided to visit MW instead.. Arriving at the Front Gate I was greeted with a Human holding a Card read device that I matched with the barcode on my Pass. No 'Good day', 'How are you' or God forbid 'Welcome to MovieWorld'.. nope. I didn't even get acknowledged. -Mind you, it was nothing personal because neither did anybody else during our visit. hmm.. Anyway, let's go on a ride! - Green Lantern was first, sighting practically 0 wait. Highlight was the lush gardens leading up to the station. Once again I was barely acknowledged by an Attendant. The track of the ride itself is looking more rust Brown than Green and the noise and clutter from the lift itself eats up most of the atmosphere. Hmm. - Next up DC Rivals. Wow what a Coaster. 99% probably wouldn't notice this but the wall on the Exit side of the Station is already weathered. Cheap job no doubt that will bite back in another season or two. Again the Staff were doing just their job. Nothing more and clearly no incentive to be any better. - That 'work in progress' Jackhammer on Main Street is worn away at the base, revealing the bolts around where it was added.. you look at it and just ask yourself huh? - Scooby-doo is unneccaptable from start to finish, seriously wtf. Again the Staff barely acknowledged us throughout but I have gotten use to the unload attendant not saying a single word. Bypassing the shop just makes the whole experience that much more underwhealming. - WWF. Having been part of this ironic ride's original crew I think I have every right to be critical. It's already been said about the shallowing of the Flume throughout but not sure if anyone has mentioned how much the ride experience itself has been affected. The Boats bump and tremble along the channel making for a sub-par ride experience. Oh well.. The absence of original FX certainly doesn't help but once again ZERO interaction from Staff was the nail in the coffin for me. Finally the Villains Area.. Just two of the interactive scenes were actually working. All else were broken including the Popular Joker, Croc Water scene and Poison Ivy with wristbands either broken or stolen. (See pictures). I am sorry this is a rant but to be frank, I feel nothing short of PISSED OFF and LET DOWN FROM YOU MOVIE WORLD!! Your Show standard SUCKS BALLS right now and frankly, I get better service from Staff at my local 7/11. I am writing this because it breaks my Heart to see our Parks looking as bad as this. We can only hope for Merlin to buy DW and push a firecracker up Village's arse, coz frankly it just isn't good enough right now right across our Parks. Mr Kirby gave a glowing interview about a year ago to Parks and right now all that was, was a bunch of empty promises.

Do you condone this kind of behaviour at parks?
MickeyD replied to Slick's topic in Theme Park Discussion
.. for such a smart arse he clearly knows fuck all about what WDW has to offer, given the trouble gone to - and just to get on 1 mediocre ride? Tossa.. How about pulling those wires out your ears for 5 seconds and maybe listen to that great big beautiful world around you?
