  1. Nice and Toasty on the SW Monorail today Push?
  2. What happens after they go broke, bail out of Australia, abandon the site and leave behind a derelict flood-prone facility with an even bigger one of these?
  3. Went yesterday and despite having tkts for WC, my group had enough and couldn't be arsed staying back for something we have all seen plenty of times before. What I noticed on today's visit: - Increased street Ent/Atmos. Cudos! Great to see some live music roaming once more! - Main Street overall looking great with nice themeing touches etc. - Plaza area space improved to better facilitate Seasonal and ongoing events. Tick๐Ÿ˜ - Giant Xmas Tree and seasonal decorations all looking great. - Front Entry area (including Archway) looks tired, rooftops covered in leaves, worn paint, that horrible White Xmas Sign on the Archway (MW you absolutely can do better!). The whole Front Gate area needs love and I hope to see them take aim at this area of the Park next. - SDSC. Never been in worse condition. An entire month down and apart from a bit of paint in the queue area, everything else was, well lets just say it wasn't. At the very least, have the fx working in the main ride section please! The ride felt less rough so assume the refurb has been mostly mechanical. - Great to see max train operation on Coasters throughout, really keeping smiles on facers. Max wait for us today was 15 minutes (Rivals) and as little as walk on for GL. - GL is more brown than Green nowadays, in need of a complete paint/refresh (trains included). - JL ride stopped half way through and out of sync rest of the ride. The last screen was off completely and scenes (such as when you enter the Spaceship) have been brightened up too much, imo affecting the mood of the ride. - Superman Dark ride section needs some love.. lighting seemed brightened again too much. Gee I hope this isn't a new safety standard to make Dark rides bright? Water effect was off. Again. Love the new free lockers! - Doomsday/Villains area. So much more life in the area now that everyone can interact with the Villains! I hope for a permanent plan than just attaching broken bands with zippy ties to the Stations, but it's a good start. Overall, some great improvements throughout the Park but it's a little disappointing to see so much of what MW is all about, missing right now. I suspect 2018 will be a big year for cleaning up areas showing their age as the Park edges closer toward the big 30.
  4. I'd be interested to know how DW can possibly justify opening something like this at a time when their Major Attractions are falling apart and barely able to keep running for Customers to enjoy? Meanwhile, 'ambitious' projects are full speed ahead at DW to re-invigorate rides like a 1980's Log flume - complete with embarrassing (possibly dangerous) bird-cage cosmetic adjustments. -AND- all this to compete with what? .. Oh yeah, the Gold Coast's 2nd most expensive EVER (and arguably) most elaborately themed ride (WWF). Hahaha ugh, seriously, best of luck with that! Get your shit together DW because you are fast running out of time and the clock is ticking!
  5. TBH I cannot remember a time that the Lasers and Smoke FX WEREN'T working @bladex?? Gee, you must be pretty unlucky? Either that or a Shit Stirrer.. ๐Ÿ˜
  6. Not sure what you are trying to say with this @Minions! .? Umm... No Cages now? @Minions! Do you seriously think People who care about the DW product (like me) are happy to stand by and watch it smoulder under the chaos and Moronic Stupidity that/what we see in the present? Think not.
  7. Vale DW Mine Ride. . At least now we can finally have closure on this whole saga - one that has plagued the Park long before the Horrors of late 2016.. Time to move forward. If DW believe they can survive beyond 2018, now is the time for them to reflect on the success of the Past, Respect the Reality of the Present and look forward to a Future that may possibly bring the very best of ideals that DW, Park and it's People have always stood for. After all, Dreams are free.. right?
  8. In the case of WWF it was a safety recommendation by the ride Manufacturer. There are multiple sensors around both turn tables that would E-stop the ride if crossed during Operation. The main concern in that area being the backwards drop and subsequent risk if someone panicked and tried to get out. The Attendant must hold down a button each time a boat load of Guests enters the area, holding it until dispatched and safely cleared. A high pitch alarm would sound should the Attendant's hand slip or they not be paying attention. There was also a similar role in the Lift at the Tune River ride in it's day.
  9. From Wikipedia: Projection mapping, also known as video mapping and spatial augmented reality, is a projection technology used to turn objects, often irregularly shaped, into a display surface for video projection. These objects may be complex industrial landscapes, such as buildings, small indoor objects or theatrical stages. By using specialized software, a two- or three-dimensional object is spatially mapped on the virtual program which mimics the real environment it is to be projected on. The software can interact with a projector to fit any desired image onto the surface of that object.[1] This technique is used by artists and advertisers alike who can add extra dimensions, optical illusions, and notions of movement onto previously static objects. The video is commonly combined with, or triggered by, audio to create an audio-visual narrative. Does this hurt your eyes @djrappa?
  10. Only at the top of the 1st one, actually - and probably the single most boring shift in the entire Park. Fortunately 1 that's no more than 2 hrs at a time.
  11. ^ maybe they're fitting cages on top of the Boats?
  12. Thanks for the scoop Team Parkz๐Ÿ˜ƒ How refreshing to hear such passion coming from VTP's new Top Dog... BRAVO! Kirby is leading a Team of Rock Star Managers that are not afraid to shake things up by connecting with their People (employees) and Customers alike to make a real difference. And whatdoyaknow.. it actually works!!! This has got to be the most exciting time for Village Parks Employees in a very long time! Hopefully the guys down in Coomera pay attention.
  13. That's cool! How does he get on and off 'stage'?
  14. When Lethal Weapon opened, I was there running it. When the Looney Tunes River ran, I ran it. When I Supervised Wild West Falls, I broke it. (While parking the Boats at closing... oops!) Roxy, Batride, Movie Magic, Studio Tour and Gremlins. All the Classics. Supervised and Presented in all of them for years. @Minions!, I can say with absolute confidence that I could do a far better job of running DW - even with my dated Theme Park experience. For one, I would stop doing so many modifications in-house (because I am DW and know better?? Yeah right!) and at least consult the big guns in the Industry first! Re-fitting the logs with cages is the dumbest idea (in the list of dumb ideas, getting bigger!) since they modified the TRRR conveyer. When will they ever learn that certain things really should not be done in-house? I really hope this stupid plan is reconsidered because wait till the media jumps on to this one. The GP will make up their own minds if/when it does. If this is the best they can do, keep it closed too and figure out a better solution. Only this time speak to the Experts first?
  15. I feel embarrassed for DW right now. What complete Arse Clown came up with this one? As others have suggested, incasing the logs with cages will actually raise the risk level, possibly trapping riders in the event of an emergency. Safety is the #1 reason why Parks worldwide ARE NOT doing this!! Ugh fucktards.
  16. Thanks for the pictures @themagician. I can see what they are doing but I still don't get it.
  17. ... re Wipeout I think the big issue here is over promising and under delivering. It's a mistake to keep promising the GP an opening date and then break that promise, over and over again. Not a good move for a business that is trying to win back trust in the marketplace. Leave the dam thing closed and set a reopening date only when they are 100% sure they can.
  18. So according to the App, Castaway Reef is not only open but also located in the Kiddie area? How helpful
  19. ^ apparently you haven't read Richard's Parkz reviews, young Padawan..
  20. DW simply doesn't have the budget to execute Jurassic to Universals standards. Even if they did can you imagine how bad all the Dinosaurs would be looking in no time? They had a temporary Dinosaurs attraction at DW years ago that was similar to creatures of the deep only in true DW style, they just plonked them randomly all over the Park. Despite being around for 1, 2 seasons tops, the animatronics were in pretty shit shape by the time the event was over.. Time to come back to Earth Push. Ain't gunna happen.
  21. What is so amusing about all this; For years and years the GP have been begging DW to bring back the Mine ride based on a notion of how good it was. Management today seem almost as misguided as the legions of fans in bringing this thing back. The GP (especially in Australia) are hardly experts in theme parks - even DW themselves can run a better Park! Bringing back the Mine Ride using the existing system is a complete waste of money and if it will take another year to open it is bound to disappoint those who wanted it back so badly. The cost involved in this project would include structural reinforcements, track detailing work, new cars, PLC, safety, braking and all other OCC systems BEFORE they begin to inclose and God forbid, attempt to theme it.. All this would have to be comparable to buying a replacement outright so why the fuck are they making this so hard and really what are they actually going to save?? All this just shows what complete and utter tight arses Ardent really are.
  22. Plenty of People in Australia don't care for Theme Park themeing
