  1. Or they already spent too much on a certain new Hyper? I share everyone's disappointment on this too but I guess it is what it is. If we now have to wait another year I wouldn't go hedging bets on a Scooby-Doo return. What better way to market a brand new ride opening in 2018?
  2. MW actually have a number of roles in place. There is a Park Supervisor who spends a good deal of their day roaming the grounds and each Attraction has their own Supervisor / Senior stationed in each Control room. The more senior Peeps like Greg and Selena also spend a lot of time in the Parks and would no doubt spot stuff that is broken/needs fixing and pass it on to the relevant dept for a maintenance request to be actioned. Such requests would be dealt with in order of priority. If is something that will not critically effect the show, safety or operation then it may take longer to fix. E.g. SDSC is down from today for extensive work. Anything that can wait, waits. Chipped paint may be something for an off site Contractor to receive and action and the broken clock may be something profoundly more complicated than you think - those clocks were part of the original MW design and the parts may be coming from overseas/and/or are extremely difficult to source.
  3. Look out MW Push is on the Warpath today! In all honesty, have you been to GS today to tell them about your gripes? A clock not working, a cable in an area that is so dark that only you noticed it and now a bit of chipped paint? Sounds more like someone got out of the wrong side of bed this morning 😁
  4. You have your areas confused Push. The temporary attraction is going in by Kevil Hill and the kiddie wheel down by the river where Captn Sturt once docked.
  5. ^ you should try it in the rain because wow that thing is fast when everything is super-slick! An added bonus - no wait to ride = WoW. Seriously you need to go back and ride it again. She's a bit like a good bottle of Red really. Or maybe cognac🤣
  6. Of both VTP and Ardent, TG will be the attraction that I personally will use the least. It's a Venue more than an Attraction that will appeal to the Aussie nature of getting groups together and having a bit of competitive/social fun. It's Bowling with Golf and that's how I've explained it to friends that have asked me what that new Coaster is going in next to AOS 😆 Interesting that once I have told them what this is they show no further interest. Been said already, this is not so much an Attraction for GC tourism as it is one of a Local Attraction. @pushbutton you really need to save your pennies up and take yourself to Disneyland one day . AOS sales may forever suffer but your life will never be the same again.. promise😁
  7. Thanks for the update @themagician. I didn't mind the Wirlpool when it was kind of a ride in the warmer months. Every Winter they would reconfigure it into those stupid spas and eventually the Wirlpool ride never came back. Probably costly repairs, I'm not 100% sure. If Surfrider is to stay next door another flat ride would fit the area and keep diversifying the brand.. Something that goes round n round and could be described as Wet and/or Wild shouldn't be too difficult to source surely?
  8. @Levithian Everybody has their own view but there's no need to start by being rude about it. Please show some respect. 90% of Australian Heritage listings are Privately owned. I never suggested GCCC step in and buy DW, just acknowledge it's relevance to the future of the GC. Giving the area iconic/historic/heritage status would protect the land from being re-zoned and forever keep the bulldozers away. -Something that should have happened decades ago with Nobby's Castle and arguably Cloudland in Brisbane. Maintenance within the Park seems to be impeeded by the many revitalization projects going on. These projects should not be taking hours from daily Operations and have entirely separate contracting budgets. I'd say this has not been the case, given how things are playing out right now. Insurance and Negligence are not mutually exclusive. For whatever reason, DW altered the original design of the Conveyer system at TRRR, making the gaps wide enough that allegedly lead to the tragic accident. If this retro-fitting was done entirely in-house (it was) and without notification to it's Insurers to advise of the change, then it's entirely possible that DW be found negligent. While Liability Insurance will all but certainly cover the family's of those affected, I can't say the same for the Park and it's Owners.
  9. Spot on read there. Thanks Parkz Crew for delivering the hard facts of our beloved DW as it continues to struggle. It's difficult to watch as the progress of development inside is running so slow that the ageing line up of attractions appears to be falling further and further behind. It is becoming sadly obvious that Ardent are deliberately dragging their feet until the Coronial inquest is finalised. I believe this is somewhat of a guise to Shareholders etc that Ardent remain committed to a future DW. Carrying out work on revitalizing Mine ride , Log ride, WipeOut etc but doing it all at such a Glacial pace that the rest of the Park is falling apart around them - all with little to know contingency. Hmm.. My fearful prediction is this is all intentional stalling. A muti-gazillion dollar court ruling would lead to inevitable closing the gates once more by mid 2018 - Only this time for good (at least as we know it today anyway). I hope I am wrong. The only good thing I can see coming out of all this is Ardent is found negligent and charged. They sell off the DW asset and bow out of Theme Parks all together. GC City Council steps in to preserve DW as a sort of Heritage listing, preventing it from ever being anything other than a Theme Park. New Owners buy it for a song, commit sizeable Capital into new Attractions and remove all the old dated crap. The Park closes for an extended time (say a year) reopens all shiny and new.. Guess we will have to wait and see? I sincerely feel for the Staff that have been part of the DW family for a longtime. No matter what the future holds, I hope their loyalty can somehow be salvaged.
  10. What is @Evie? That new structure or Zombie Evolution? The Zombie maze was a bit of fun for a couple of visits but after this Xmas period it's time to go. I'm with @Roachie, that whole area is just a great big jumble and has been for too long. Some ideas for placemaking the area; Rip out Flowrider and put it over at WWW where it belongs. Move WWW DW entry south west out of the old TBolt Q. Re-theme the area to a 'Sea-side boardwalk' with Carnival Games and food - only better food truck style quality. Theme is cohesive with Ocean Parade and DW could do it before SW does! Shut down the Car Museum and put a classic 'Ghost Train' dark ride in. A perfect 'experience' that DW can afford and desperately needs. They already have the building after all. Tear down HWSW and junk it. Put a Custom Woody in that would cover over the land expanse from the Arcade, Zombie, old T/Bolt Q, part of the Boneyard and existing HWSW footprint. Call it 'Thunderbolt'.
  11. Wtf? Are you DW Management because honestly what an absolute steaming pile of shit that just was. Could someone else here care to elaborate on the complexity of a standard fairground Carousel because frankly I'm just a little lost for words right now.
  12. Sorry to hear that @Laridae. If Rivals had opened a year ago I probably would have had trouble getting on myself. Visiting the Parks regularly alone since has proven a great little exercise program for me. It's something I find enjoyable and motivating. When DD opened I struggled to squeeze in. Still rode but found it quite uncomfortable. A few weeks later I went on the Claw and felt rather embarrassed that I couldn't get the seatbelt to attach. The Attendant again squeezed me in and the ride experience was just awful on my shoulders. With a fake smile painted on my face and trying to hold back the tears, I couldn't wait to get off. Today I am about 15kgs lighter and can ride (and enjoy) them all, Claw included!! Of course everybody is different but I do hope that if you have the opportunity to one day experience Rivals for yourself. It would be a fantastic reward for you and I know there are plenty of people here that would love to hear from you when you do😃
  13. I hope not @AlexB. It looks like the only spot to get some shade in the area, for Parents while Kids play. Charging extra just to get out of the Sun? irresponsible move imo. Not to mention pointless. I get having Cabanas in water parks as places for ppl to base themselves during their day. There just isn't enough down the back of SW to warrant having them. Then again, this is a Park that charges almost 10 bucks for a cup of 3 dead feeding fish for the Rays, I guess anything is possible?
  14. Thanks for the update @Luke. I visited about a week ago and notiice those Flinstone looking awnings have gone up since. For a kid's splash zone I think it will be pretty impressive. We always knew it wasn't going to be anything more than something minor and besides, SW is finally going to get that Fountain everyone's been banging on about🤣
  15. That Cave has been falling to pieces for years and having barely been touched since the Park opened, it had become a haven for all sorts of Creepy Crawleys over time. It's also the deepest section of the canal and an area of the ride where the logs could be rocked easily without touching the bottom. Perhaps narrow the Canal with guide rails inserted below the water line and starting from where the tunnel exited all the way up to the main lift.
  16. If anything, you might find DD more restrictive. The seatbelt buckle that plugs into the restraint on Rivals is fully adjustable and 'guides' in to the restraint. I actually find the seats more supportive than most office chairs and even cars! Mack have done a brilliant job to ensure your not only secure but also physically supported while flying around the circuit. Have fun 😃
  17. For me personally $19 is pretty steep to jump a Q for a ride.. for 1 go.. but that's just me.. - Riding with my Partner would be a one off cost of $38 which, to me is far more realistically spent on fuel getting there / food / and or in the shops while visiting.. but that's just my opinion. There are plenty of ppl out there who WILL and DO fork out big bucks for the prestige of instant access to DCR. I enjoyed 2 rides with my group yesterday afternoon before FN and waited no more than 10-15 minutes on both occasions. If People are that wealthy, impatient or time poor that they can't possibly forego 15 precious minutes of their busy lives waiting for a World Class Rollercoaster then let em.
  18. Wasn't it just? Great pic btw @Brad2912 Apart from being a total washout, more or less the crowd was making the most of their time. Surprising to see all the rides running in the rain tonight.. and boyoboy did it rain!! Super quick review: Conjuring2. Basically same as last year. Great looking maze but not enough to it really. This maze has had it's run. 3rd place. Dusk to Dawn. Same as above only this maze just wasn't scary. Sorry Girls but I found myself pulling faces back at the not-so-scary actors. 4th place and please don't come back! Halloween. Scary! The Mike Myers's were intimidating and kept coming at ya. Lots of scares and effectively creepy. 2nd place. Jigsaw. Scariest! I loved all the smoke and strobes as well as the solid scares throughout. By far the most dissorientating of all the mazes. 1st place. There were often such big gaps between groups going through, ops staff were really not pushing as hard as they could. Given how bad the weather was. Despite the rain, a great night as always but probably the weakest FN overall in years. 6/10
  19. ^ WetnWhat? Oh yeah, good point @AlexB I forgot about that place for a minute. Seems I am not the only one😁
  20. Absolutely @Luke and to think SW could probably have bought and rushed in a couple of modest flats for what this project is costing.. Another small Kid's attraction isn't exactly what that Park needs right now
  21. I thought that voice over in SDSC was recorded by Chris Broadway a zillion years ago..
  22. I wonder how many times over the years people have walked inside from the bright Sun only to crash into/trip over the queue rails and chains inside the main queue and actually hurt themselves? I was saying this to my other half only just the other day when a couple in front of us walked into a chain and we agreed it's an accident that's easily avoidable. #1 the entry host simply needs to do their job by ensuring the queue chains are adjusted and tidied according to the wait. #2 If there is little to no wait, Entry Host 'groups' Guests just inside the entry for a few moments to allow eyes to adjust to the darkness before entering the Building. #3 install LED tape lighting that runs along the queue floor and with a flick of a switch, the Entry Host can change the lights to direct Guests in the queue, little bit like an Airport runway. The LED's could be colourful like green, purple, deep red to add to the ambience of the room. As for the areas of the queue being damaged by fidgity Guests, perhaps consider some Curtains/drapes for the corridor and still have the dungeon lights poking through the gaps and maybe some gold ropes holding back the edges to enhance the look. Whilst they are at it, please fix the back stage light shining through from behind the monitor. It breaks the themeing and looks just crap. A simple scurting curtain across the top would do the trick.
  23. Rode last Saturday. Not sure if this is new but I did notice framework (insert wall here!) surrounding the track throughout the ride. I could also see one of the Monsters sitting in the Dark - the one who extends his arms toward you as the Car passes. Also the Cars themselves seem to have been repainted. Faces look freshened and shiny overall. A good sign that the ride will maintain it's Scooby-Doo theme. Paintwork in the corridor leading up to the station is in terrible shape. Bored Patrons have had a field day etching their initials here for too long, I am sure this area will be dressed up when the ride goes down next month. Finally, the ride experience itself seemed improved with less pressure applied to the brakes after the last 2 drops. The braking here seemed less abrupt since last time I rode a few months.
  24. Seeing inside you get a pretty good understanding why the ride couldn't be opened without as it stood. Anyone remember how hot it would get? It certainly felt like an exploding Mine! Just as well they DIDN'T have a Ride Op stationed at the top (like at WWF). How awful would that Shift be? Frankly I'm amazed the err building was still standing for the most part. Track looks in surprisingly good nick but the actual supports might need a bit of re-reinforcing. It wouldn't surprise me if that Melted-Easter-Egg-Wire-Cage-Thing has been holding much of it together all these years😅
