  1. An Employee told me the other day that it will peak at 70 metres. The person stopped short of telling me the Theme and that would be announced 'soon'. I'd be quite happy with a 70 metre first drop, if indeed that is true😀
  2. Very exciting news and congratulations to the hard working Animal Care People!! Sad to see so many uneducated twits out there willing to condemn SW for their conservation efforts. It baffles me that supposed die-hard Environmentalists would sooner see these amazing Animals fade into extinction in their depleting natural habitat than support the efforts of those trying to save them.
  3. It's a pretty sad thought that we have become so price affected that we have lost respect for what we Value. I think it's more about how businesses respond to a change of demand in Society. Consider this scenario; A Customer chooses to go shopping for some new Clothes at a local Westfield. Before they even walk in the door, they first have to get themselves ready, drive to the Centre, find a Parking space and spend a sizeable amount of time searching stores before finding what they want. By the time the Customer has made their purchase they have committed a good amount of effort in obtaining the Product. The question is how much Value did the Customer receive in return for the Effort put in? Given they could have stayed at home and bought it all on line, probably for less, the entire Shopping experience would have to be of greater Value than the alternative, to be viable. In the case of our Parks, additional Purchases can represent Value and not just by price either!!! Quality, Quantity, Variety, Uniqueness and of course Service among other factors. The amount of focus put on each of these should vary depending on the target demographic except for Service which should always be consistent and ideally exceptional.
  4. I hope everyone here is aware that Movie Park was originally opened as Warner Bros. Movie World Germany. It was built as a true sister Park of the original. Some of my fellow Ops colleagues at the time from MW had the pleasure of travelling over to Germany months before and assisted with opening the Park. It had a significantly higher budget with more rides and higher capacity (Batman had 8 simulators instead of 6 here). It was built in the image of our original Park and I guess much like ours, the Locals just didn't take to it as well as hoped. When the time came it was no doubt a huge job to strip the WB's indices from the Park and rebrand all of the existing rides at the time. With the addition of many Thrill ride and other experiences over the years, Movie Park Germany has become worldwide recognised and on many Enthusiasts lists when visiting Europe. I still haven't visited but from what I do know, it absolutely deserves high ranking on the World stage. As does the original. e/r Back on topic, I think it is up to the Departmental heads to focus more on their target demographic, ie Passholders. SW does OK with the Animal Experiences however in-Park dining across the Parks continues to be a massive missed opportunity. Surely squeezing an extra 20 bucks out of every Punter is better than none? Despite this, Per Cap Spend is a key KPI of any Theme Park and over-inflating prices inside the Gate seems to be the norm. They really need to identify and Market toward their Target demographic by offering VALUE in the Products available to the People prepared to pqy for them.
  5. I don't believe it.. and why July? It's the middle of Winter for crying out loud
  6. Oh God this subject makes my brain hurt. . Two cents here. Let's not focus so much on the Gate price being the REAL issue here. I think it's important to keep things relative and when it comes to that, in-Park F&B is off the charts, both in Quality and most importantly, Value for money.. No matter where you go in the Consumer world today, the Customer wants value for their investment. A sandwich at the Bakery or a Burger and Chips for nearly 20 bucks per person is bullshit expensive - and given that doesn't even include a drink, sorry it's simply out of touch from reality. Especially when reality is a short drive across the road. I have been a loyal Passholder for years and visit the Parks often - I'm also happily prepared to spend between 30-50 dollars on any given visit. Typically I am down a measely $2 coin for a spin on Superman.. Why? Because I (like most regular visitor's) do not see value in the Products available! Solution? Listen to your Audience!!! People will spend money on the things they see VALUE in.
  7. I'm loving the twist at the top of the most recent piece before the track descends and heads Northwest.. Expect some pretty sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet 'Ejector air time' here😲 F U C K Y E A H 😲
  8. I think you might be right with your assumption @thunder001 because the marks lead straight across to meet the GL queue. This would solve the issue with needing to free up some more space and open up the thoroughfare to the new ride. I'm currently having a coffee across from MW and looking at the impressive sight of what has been achieved so far. Comparing it to what already exists on the skyline, I can't help but think this ride ia going to be 'The Dark Side of Superman', aka Bizarro.
  9. ^ it would appear so! Or perhaps the Park Wall could be moved outward toward GL? For the sake of widening the in park foot print by just a few metres I doubt that. My money is on this being a Pathway/Platform to an Observation Area
  10. Visited MW today for the first time since the development went skyward. Whilst waiting to ride GL I noticed Paint marks on the grass that extend across from the Observation platform all the way East toward the new Coaster. I wonder if we will see another raised platform placed here?
  11. SW needs new Monorail Trains to replace the 1980's fleet and the only way I can see this possibly happen is if/when the proposed Casino development goes in across the way. The line could be extended and a new Casino/Resort station added with the Development cost shared, however largely fronted by the Casino that would perhaps benefit from it more. Given the adjacent Resort It's pretty essential for the Monorail to continue to exist however in it's current state it's pretty sad too. VTP would not be keen to invest millions in something that isn't really going to get a return so the only way to get it a face lift would be to get the Casino on board.
  12. Hey @LORD_Noodle welcome to Parkz! So far, all of your questions have been answered. You only need to look over the hundreds of pages spent the past 12 or so months of discussion on this particular topic alone. I don't mean to be rude chap - be assured there are plenty on here that will happily be so if you continue to frustrate them unnecessarily!! Suffice that would be wasted time spent on all our parts😉. So, if you want to spend time on your love of Theme Parks here, Welcome! Be respectful of those here and they will be to you. And for the love of all things whatever, P L E A S E have a good read first before asking stupid questions that show ignorance and contempt. Have a Happy Day😃
  13. My point is the WWW Gate doesn't appear to be used as an Entry at all anymore, so why keep it looking that way? It is a little confusing for Guests to have two Front Gates/entries when only one of them is EVER used. Summer and Sept/Oct School Holidays should surely bring big enough crowds to operate both gates fully? Waterpark Goers might then use the Lockers provided in the Waterpark area rather than trapse back and forth through the main Park all day long.
  14. So if the Audio on the ride has been turned off then one must ask the question why? Annoying Track? Audio issues? Play rights? Hmmm.. maybe the latter?
  15. It somewhat renders the entry gate to WWW as superfluous as it's now only really used as an Exit.
  16. Or this.. Eddy current test method can detect very small cracks in or near the surface of the material, the surfaces need minimum preparation. The biggest advantage of the eddy current test method is that is can be employed to determine surface flaws on painted or coated surface. Eddy current flaw detection is commonly used in the aerospace industry, crane industry, concrete pumping industry and other general industries where the protective surface coating cannot be removed.
  17. Thanks @Theme Park Girl the Counter weights look like they may have been repainted however this all looks pretty much as it did a week ago. No way will they have it ready for the 24th. The ride would have to been assembled by now to allow for testing etc. I am concerned for the supports either side that have been marked orange in various places. Not to raise unnecessary concern here but it seems to me that problems have been found. Cracks in welds perhaps?
  18. Thanks @Theme Park Girl! It doesn't look like a whole lot has changed since when I visited a week ago. I had to use the amenities behind that big screen and was a little disappointed to see they haven't been upgraded. Maybe there is still a plan to properly address them once the new Exit precinct opens?
  19. My bad.. I should have taken some snaps but if you saw it in person you would agree that it is nowhere close to ready.
  20. The DW Maintenance page has Wipeout reopening 24th of May. TBH I can't see it. The Gondola is sitting on the ground, arms unnattached and spray paint marks all over the supports, suggesting areas that need attention - perhaps needing re-inforcement but it looks like a similar job to what a panel beater does to a vehicle circling damage spots etc. While it's sad to see the old girl in such crook shape I am glad DW are putting so much effort and expense into what appears to be yet another significant rebuild of the ride. Does anyone know anything about the situation?
  21. I couldn't see any sign of activity at the Log Ride yesterday. It doesn't look to be opening any time soon.. Now with Winter on the way, I would anticipate a September Holiday date.
  22. I visited DW yesterday and was approached by a Ch9 female Journo and Cameraman upon leaving.. She asked me if I had visited the Park and seen the ride breakdown. I shrugged my shoulders and said 'no' then added that "rides stop all the time, it's what they're meant to do". She said, "we know - just keeping an eye on things". They were approaching just about everyone leaving the Park from the foot of the stairs outside Lego. No one else I saw was interested in speaking to them. Parasites.
  23. Wow I am really surprised and delighted to see how good that Theatre is looking! I must get in there next time and try out those comfy looking seats😃
  24. If the Track height reaches 196.8 feet then the train, seat and passenger height should easily eclipse the big 2 0 0 mark, from the perspective of where riders view it (assuming head's are on top of their bodies as is usually). This be the case then AA places it's riders significantly lower than the track's peak height of 30 odd metres.. but when was the last time anyone cared to question that? It's a Hypercoaster.
